Groh gone in Virginia

As the postseason for many college football programs begins (especially the crappy ones that won’t be playing in bowl games), we recommend daily visits to CFT for the latest developments.

Here’s one:  former Jets coach Al Groh has seen his career at Virginia come to a conclusion.

Groh was fired today, along with Mark Snyder at Marshall, who has not coached any NFL teams yet.  Or, likely, ever.

Don’t be shocked if Groh finds refuge with the Dolphins in 2010; he inherited the head-coaching job in New York after Bill Parcells elevated to G.M. a decade ago.

It seems like a stretch to consider this PFT-worthy.

What does this have to do with the NFL? And no, some baseless speculation (even for you Florio) doesn’t count.

Coach Groh is one of the most well liked guys within the NFL / NCAA circle. Plus, his wife was a great 5th grade “language arts” teacher. Some community will be very lucky to have them both.
    Go Rams!

please fire dan henning and get a normal play caller for the phins. Could be groh?
wildcat is nice but used at the wrong times.
he makes some horrendous calls and has lost many phins games for them (aka today and the bills with the ricky pass…)

Well, technically, he got the Jets gig after Bill Belichick resigned after Day One on the job.
(and people call Belichick stupid? Smartest move the guy ever made!)
