Michael Turner re-injures ankle

The Falcons took a risk by starting Michael Turner Sunday so soon after he suffered a high ankle sprain.

It looks like that risk backfired.

Turner left Sunday's game against the game after re-injuring his ankle.  His leg bent backward unnaturally on his last play and Jerious Norwood has taken over as Atlanta's primary back.  Jason Snelling is also available.

The Falcons have already lost Matt Ryan for the day and could see their playoff hopes crumble Sunday.  Atlanta trails Tampa Bay 17-13 entering the fourth quarter.

the sound you hear is my fantasy team season, twirling down the drain. a well invested 2nd overall pick, when chris johnson was still on the board *sigh*

Why did they risk Turner today? Why???? It just doesn't make sense. When he went down it took all the momentum.

Dumb, Dumb, Dumb, to play Turner today.

I drafted Chris Johnson 9th overall and all the guys in my league laughed.

Now I'm 10-1, kicking the snot out of them.

The coach deserves to be fired after this tabacle. Your stud RB is about 75% healthy and you play him against the Bucs. Dumb move. He obviously wasn't healthy when he had only 33 yards rushing on about 12 carries. Stupid. Pisses me off cuz I have him in fantasy and did not start him.

Seriously, man... you guys are supposed to be professional writers. NBC's branding is all over the site. Take some pride in your published work, perhaps?

Florio Jr's gotten enough education at this point to be able to proof-read this crap. Throw the kid an extra few bucks in his allowance or something.

I must also confess to drafting Turner with the 2nd overall pick this year. My team has struggled most the season and after today I will most likely be 6-6 fighting for a playoff spot. If Turner could have stayed healthy, I may have locked up a spot by now.

Not to mention the fact that Ryan was my backup for today that I started because of the team they were playing. Double whammy!

Never draft an RB the year after he gets 370+ carries. Unless it's one of the 6 best RBs of all time (LT, Emmitt, Walter, ED)...just ask Jamal Anderson, Eddie George, Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, and so on and so on.

    @ Marvin Berry

can i play in your league? I would love to get in any league that would allow CJ to drop to #9 on the board

(unrelated - i took Benson in the 9th rd of my draft and was laughed at, i just clinched a 1st round bye in the playoffs today w/o benson in my lineup)

How damned stupid was it to run out a feature player 2 weeks after he suffered a high ankle sprain .... against a team that is complete garbage?

Aside from the Raiders everyday business, does football decision-making get any dumber?

Nice work, Falcons --- looks like Mr. Blank should implement a red light, yellow light, green light code to let Head Coach Smith know how much caution he should use in playing injured players.
