As expected, wide receiver Steve Smith and running back Jonathan Stewart will be in the lineup for the Panthers’ matchup with the Jets at the Meadowlands on Sunday.
Smith was a late addition to the injury report with a rib injury, while Stewart’s Achilles injury has made him a regular visitor to the list in the days leading up to games. He hasn’t missed any games, however, and will continue to share time with DeAngelo Williams at tailback.
Linebacker Na’il Diggs, who was also questionable because of a rib injury, is also in the lineup for the Panthers. They’ll also get safety Charles Godfrey back on Sunday, although they will still use rookie Sherrod Martin as the starting free safety.
The Jets will be without cornerbacks Dwight Lowery and Donald Strickland, each of whom was injured in last week’s loss to the Patriots. They will have linebacker Vernon Gholston back in the lineup, although history says that won’t help them all that much as they try to avoid a seventh loss in their last eight games.
