8:30pm ET – Mike, what do the steelers need to do to win tonight?
Pray for Dennis Dixon and Tyler Palko to be injured in the first quarter.

8:30pm ET – Hey Mike, you there yet?
No. I’ll let you know when I get here.

8:32pm ET – Hello Mr. Florio. Do you think the Bears can use a new coach?
Yes. Absolutely. And they might be getting one before Christmas, at least on an interim basis.

8:33pm ET – Yo Mike, what was the best game of the day? Tennessee and Arizona?

First half was a snoozarama. Second half was great. Last drive was classic.

8:36pm ET – How about Vince Young? What a comeback!
The challenge now will be to get him to stay humble.

8:42pm ET – Whats your pregame meal to get you ready for a night full of chatting?
Actually, I had a sub from Subway. And I’m not just saying that
because Subway is an NBC sponsor. But, coincidentally, Subway is an NBC
sponsor. (Unfortunately, mentioning that didn’t get me a free sub at
the local Subway.)

8:42pm ET – Chris Johnson for MVP?? I’m tired of Manning getting it…
After today, someone has to take it away from Brett Favre.

8:47pm ET – Mike, where are you? Did you run the VW bus into a fire hydrant and tree?

I’m actually having some technical problems. So my wife hit my laptop with a golf club.

8:50pm ET – Charlie Weis to the Colts? Really? Why?
They’d like to tweak the Patriots. And improve their offense.

8:50pm ET – Mike, do you see the Green bay Packers making the playoffs?
Yes. Absolutely. And they’ll get another crack at beating Favre.

8:52pm ET – Do you think Charlie Weis is a good option as a offensive coordinator for the Bears?
I think it depends on who the head coach is.

8:53pm ET – Percy Harvin for rookie of the year?
Who else would it be on offense? Mark Sanchez?

8:54pm ET – Mike, you’ve answered my questions 2 weeks in a row, want to make it a 3rd week in a row?
Nope.

8:55pm ET – Just remember the valuable lesson that as long as you don’t meet with the police, you won’t get in trouble.
I missed that day in law school. (Then again, I missed plenty days in
law school. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be doing this for a living.)

8:56pm ET – What is your favorite college football team?
You’re new around here, aren’t you?

8:58pm ET – Mike: Do you see any of the big name candidates going to the Bears before Christmas or after?

None of the big name candidates will take a job until after the
regular season. They want to survey all options and build maximum
leverage.

8:58pm ET – What color is your VW bus? Black and gold or purple and white?
It is orange, like rust. (I really should have gotten that Ziebart thing.)

9:00pm ET – What is the best question you have ever been asked?
It’s a close call. I’ll go with this one.

9:00pm ET – Aren’t most WV fans also Steeler fans Mike?
Holy crap. I’ve been outed.

9:01pm ET – Was Indy-Houston protected?
Only Bears-Vikings was protected this week.

9:02pm ET – What was the your best side dish at Thanksgiving dinner?
Milk steak.

9:03pm ET
- If Roethlisberger does go in and starts puking in the middle of the
field will everyone (esp. Ward) finally believe concussions are serious
things?

No. They would just think he’s impersonating Donovan McNabb.

9:04pm ET – Mike, when I order my Subway sandwich I want the salami on the side, if it’s on the top, I’ll send it back.
Nice try. But a little forced.

9:05pm ET – Do you think the Patriots will beat the Saints tomorrow?
Yes. Absolutely.

9:07pm ET – Has anyone ever said you look like George Stephanopoulos, only less handsome?
Wait, George Stephanopoulos is handsome?

9:07pm ET – Do you think Minnesota-Carolina stays on NBC in two weeks or do you think it will get flexed out?
I think it gets flexed out. Vikings play next week on Sunday night, against the Cardinals.

9:07pm ET – Is Charles Woodson the defensive players of the year thus far?
Yes. Elvis Dumervil and Jared Allen get votes, too.

9:08pm ET – Mike, who do you see as the 2 wild card teams from the AFC?
Pittsburgh and Denver.

9:12pm ET – Since it looks like the Browns are without their best
defender in Rogers, is there anybody that they would be able to pick up
off the street? Anybody at all?

It’s very difficult to find a good 3-4 nose tackle.

9:12pm ET – Mike, why is it that your Sunday night game chat tends to talk about anything but the game itself?
Because I have to sift through questions like this.

9:12pm ET – When did Roethlisberger get a concussion?
He took a knee to the head last week against the Chiefs. On a related
note, we’re glad you recently have begun following the NFL. We hope you
will continue to do so.

9:13pm ET – Bye bye Kubiak?
I think he’s gone if they don’t make it to the playoffs.

9:14pm ET – Do you think a concussion is a serious injury?
There are degrees of concussions. Some are serious. Some are not. All should be taken seriously.

9:15pm ET – How about Darren Sharper? Can he get a defensive MVP vote?
He has disappeared lately. He gets a big stage tomorrow night.

9:17pm ET – Do you think Tony Romo will overcome his horrible December-January record this season?
I wouldn’t bet on it.

9:18pm ET – Mike, what are you putting on your W2 this year, attorney or psuedo journalist?
In keeping with the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia vibe, let’s go with “full on rapist.”

9:19pm ET – Do you think Indy will go undefeated?
If they beat Tennessee next week, yes. But I also think the Chargers or Pats will beat Indy in the playoffs.

9:20pm ET – Do you think the Viking have what it takes to go all the way to the Super Bowl?
I fear an untimely fumble from Adrian Peterson in the postseason.

9:21pm ET – So Mike are you forced with a gun at your head to answer questions on here?
No. It’s a crossbow.

9:22pm ET
- DeSean Jackson and Jason Campbell suffered concussions today. Are
there more in today’s NFL or just being acknowledged more?

I think the media is reporting on them more.

9:22pm ET – Hey Mike who do you think poses the biggest threat to Indy the rest of the season?
Titans in the regular season. Chargers and Pats in the playoffs. Vikings in the Super Bowl.

9:24pm ET – Mike, Saints will go down in flames after tomorrow?
I think they’ll lose convincingly, and that they’ll then have to try
to refocus once they realize that beating the Pats, Colts, or Charger
in the Super Bowl will be a tall order.

9:25pm ET – Do you think Jim Zorn should be fired?
I think everyone in that football operation should be fired.

9:25pm ET – Do you think the Green Bay Packers could make a run in the playoffs?
They still need to show they can overcome the loss of Al Harris and Aaron Kampman against a quality team.

9:28pm ET – Mike, you gotta be impressed with Dennis Dixon so far, right?
Yes. But remember that if he didn’t tear an ACL he would have been a first-day draft pick.

9:28pm ET
- Is this the year Leslie Frazier finally gets a head-coaching
opportunity? As a Vikings fan, I hate to see him go, just like Tony
Dungy and Mike Tomlin.

Working against him this year is
that there are a bunch of good candidates. If the Vikings make it to
the Super Bowl, I doubt that any team will wait for him.

9:29pm ET – Mike, Who are the top 5 teams in the NFL right now?
Colts, Saints, Vikings, Chargers, Patriots.

9:29pm ET – Do you think the Titans will make the playoffs?
Yes, and they’ll be a tough out.

9:30pm ET – Do you think Mike Tice or Denny Green could do what Chilly Dog is doing with Favre and this Vikings squad?

I don’t think either of them would have made the play for Favre.

9:32pm ET – Who is the best running back?
Without question, Chris Johnson. Adrian Peterson has already lost a little something, and he fumbles too much.

9:33pm ET – If Zorn goes what about Campbell?
New coach will want his own quarterback.

9:34pm ET – Do you think Chris Johnson can reached 2,000 yards by the end of the season?
Given the large chunks in which he chews up the yardage, I rule out nothing with him.

9:35pm ET – Where is T.O these days?
He has had two straight games that were pretty good.

9:35pm ET
- Steelers fans gotta be happy with the play of Dennis Dixon so far.
When do you think he’ll show he’s really a 3rd string QB?

I think he looks good. Lots of potential. Batch will be gone after
2009. Then they’ll have to make a move with Dixon or pay him good money
to back up Ben.

9:36pm ET – Mike, do you think the Ravens are better than their record?
They sure don’t look like it so far tonight.

9:37pm ET
- Why did they kick the extra point at the end of the tennessee game
when the outcome was already decided and the point was irrelevant? Was
it not the same as overtime when you do not kick on a touchdown?

Different rules. They have to do the try, whether for one or two points.

9:38pm ET – Hey Mike who is your pick for MVP this year?
Right now, Favre.

9:40pm ET – How in the world did the Hochuli crew get a nationally televised game?
Throughout the season, they rotate the crews.

9:40pm ET – Do you think Vince Young should be in the running for for MVP based on his 5 wins?
If they finish 10-6, he’ll get some votes.

9:41pm ET – What about Moss and Favre with AP in that backfield and that defense?
Actually, with Favre throwing him the balls, Sidney Rice is looking more like Moss all the time.

9:42pm ET – Do you see Fewell having a shot at becoming the Bills permanent head coach?
He needs to win out to even have a remote chance.

9:47pm ET – Have you seen the Michael Oher movie yet?

We went Wednesday night. Good, not great. Could have been 30 minutes shorter.

9:49pm ET
- King said two teams would not pass on Tebow in the first and
speculation from PFT has JAX and Minny. Do you think Minnesota would
trade up for him, or play the waiting game?

“The waiting game sucks. Let’s play Hungry Hungry Hippos.”

9:49pm ET – Can WVU’s Jarrett Brown play in the NFL?
I think 6’8″ wideout Wes Lyons is the one to watch at the next level
– another Jerry Porter/James Jett type that they never used right in
Morgantown.

9:50pm ET – Do you think there’s any scenario in which the Bills can hang on to T.O. next year?
New coach won’t want him. By the team is ready to compete, T.O. will be long gone.

9:51pm ET – Who has the better shot of going 19-0? Saints or Colts?
Colts. They’ve got more playoff experience, which will be critical if/when encountering adversity in the postseason.

9:52pm ET – Is Jay Cutler a lost cause in Chicago?

Not yet, but he has killed Lovie Smith’s career there.

9:53pm ET – Do you think Vince Young will be a premier quarterback in this league?
Um. I think he already is.

9:54pm ET – What is it with corner routes in the end zone?
Relatively safe route. Rarely double covered. Good quarterbacks can throw it where it’s either caught or incomplete.

9:56pm ET – Do you think the Chiefs will keep Todd Haley?
Why wouldn’t they? He’s 3-8 and he inherited a horrible team. They beat the Steelers.

9:58pm ET – What do you think of Tebow as an NFL QB?
There’s concern he can’t make all the throws. Lack of experience
taking snaps under center hurts him, especially when executing a
play-action pass.

10:01pm ET – You’re top pick is Favre right now, but do you think Chris Johnson has a chance to go above him?
Chris Johnson and Vince Young might soon be splitting votes.

10:02pm ET – Is Caldwell a good rookie coach or did he just inherit a good team?
He inherited more than a great team. He inherited arguably the best quarterback of all time.

10:04pm ET – Who do you think will take the NFC East? Cowboys or Eagles?

Don’t rule out the Giants — they get Cowboys and Eagles at home the next two weeks.

10:05pm ET – Who would you take Vince Young or Mike Vick?
Without question, Young. Vick is on the decline. Young is on the upswing.

10:05pm ET – Who do you think is the most overrated team in the NFL?
Cowboys.

10:07pm ET – Is Portis done as a premier back?
Yes, but he’ll likely be back next year. He has a huge chunk of guaranteed money due.

10:09pm ET – What do YOU think of Tebow in the NFL?
I think he has the work ethic and motivation to do whatever he has to do to be successful.

10:09pm ET – Seriously? After a handful of starts you’re touting VY for MVP?
He’s 5-0. If he goes 10-0, he’ll get votes. That’s all I’m saying.

10:10pm ET – Where do you think Michael Vick will play next year?
Much of it depends on how the coaching carousel shakes out.

10:12pm ET – You say the Cowboys are overrated, all I ever hear is people writing them off, despite being 8-3 with a two-game lead.
Wait until the Saints get a crack at them. New Orleans scored 48 against the Eagles and 48 against the Giants.

10:13pm ET – Do you think it was a mistake for Michael Turner to come back so soon following a high-ankle sprain?
It’s easy to say “yes,” since he was injured today. They surely knew
there was an increased risk of re-injury. Not sure why they felt the
need to rush him back against the Bucs.

10:14pm ET – What do you think of Tim Tebow to the Dolphins?
Well, given that the Dolphins like to use second-round picks on
quarterbacks, it’s probably safe to assume that, if he’s there in round
two, they’ll take him.

10:15pm ET – What do YOU think of an undefeated Superbowl matchup? Likely or unlikely?
Unlikely. Too many other good teams that the Saints and Colts would have to beat, in regular season and playoffs.

10:16pm ET – In terms of media attention, which NFL team do you think is the most ignored?
Nationally, it’s the Seahawks. And that’s a good thing for coach Jim Mora.

10:18pm ET – Do you think the Raiders will cut JaMarcus Russell after the season?
I think they’ll use the threat of cutting him in early September as a
way to get the most out of him in the offseason program and training
camp.

10:21pm ET – Who do YOU think will be the best when all is said and done . . . Brady or Manning?
Manning. He’d have 4 or 5 rings if he had spent the last decade with Belichick and that defense.

10:23pm ET – Who will be the next coach at Notre Dame?

I think it will be Brian Kelly.

10:24pm ET – What do you think has been the key to success for Brett Favre with the Vikings?
Favre isn’t trying to do too much. So he’s doing more than ever before.

10:25pm ET – What does an NFL team need the most in your opinion?
It’s a quarterback’s league. So a good quarterback is a must.

10:27pm ET
- What do you think the Jets will do with Mark Sanchez at the end of
the season? Do you think he is performing to (realistic) expectations?

They’re stuck with him for the foreseeable future. He’s not
performing up to the expectations that Rex Ryan created, and that’s all
that really matters.

10:28pm ET – Would you rather a great quarterback or a great coach?
Great quarterback makes coach look a lot greater.

10:29pm ET – What do you think is the problem with JaMarcus Russell?
He was content to be the first overall pick, and he’s not pushing himself to greatness.

10:33pm ET – Why is Rashard Mendenhall starting over Willie Parker?
Parker doesn’t like to run between the tackles, and coach Mike Tomlin
made the call to use a first-rounder on Mendenhall.

10:35pm ET – Is there a better cornerback in the NFL this season than Darelle Revis?
Yes. Charles Woodson.

10:37pm ET – Do you think Chester Taylor will start for a new team next year and if so who?
He is 30, so that will make some teams leery. But if Vikings play
deep into the postseason, someone will make a play for him. Like with
Vick, it depends on how the coaching carousel shakes out. Vikes might
try to keep him. They need a complement to Peterson.

10:38pm ET – Would you say that missing Steve Spagnuolo has been a major cause for the Giant’s struggles?
Pass rush hasn’t been there, so yes. But now the offensive line is
getting a little spotty. They also miss Plaxico Burress.

10:43pm ET – Florio, there are plenty of people that believe Brady
would have 4 or 5 rings if he had the receiving corps that Manning has
had.

Yeah, Brady would have gotten No. 4 two years ago
if he had Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison instead of those stiffs
Brady was throwing passes to.

10:45pm ET – Do teams with already horrible seasons consider losing to obtain a higher draft pick?
No — unless there’s one can’t-miss prospect. The money that gets
invested as the picks get higher has become obscene. Teams would rather
draft lower.

10:48pm ET – Mike, I had to suffer through
another Browns debacle today, throw me a bone, is there anything to the
Parcells rumored move to Cleveland?

Doubtful. I think Parcells would use any interest as leverage.

10:49pm ET – How in your opinion have the Bengals been doing so good? Is it something in the water? What’s changed in Cincy?
Underrated defense, franchise quarterback, good receivers, strong running game.

10:50pm ET – Would Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin put in Ben Roethlisberger if the game tonight comes close in the fourth quarter?
Tomlin said before game he’d only use Roethlisberger if other two quarterbacks get hurt, and then to hand off only.

10:51pm ET – Why do you think Brian Kelly will go to Notre Dame?
Because he’s Irish. And I hear he likes to fight.

10:52pm ET – What advice would you have for Redskins fans looking forward?
Follow hockey.

10:55pm ET – Do you think Larry Johnson can turn his career around in Cincy?
He got a good start today. The question is whether Cedric Benson
starts causing trouble if he feels like he’s being Wally Pipped.

10:56pm ET – Do you think the Steelers defense seriously lacks that extra punch without Troy Polamalu?
Without question. When he’s on the field, I think opposing
quarterbacks are more tentative because they fear he’s going to spring
out of nowhere, catch the ball with his teeth, change directions with
it like 10 times, and then run it into the end zone like a guy who’s
trying to catch a bus he just missed.

10:58pm ET – What do
you think is the chance of Titans making it to the playoffs and do you
believe Vince Young right now is to good to be true?

As I said earlier (the question and answer have scrolled off, I think),
the challenge will be for Young to keep him humility as he experiences
success.

10:59pm ET – Please explain to us younguns what being Wally Pipped means….
It means having to walk to school in a foot of snow. Two miles. Uphill. Both ways.

11:00pm ET
- What position do you think the Browns should draft this year (with
what will most likely be the number one overall pick)?

Probably one of those monster defensive linemen, like Suh from
Nebraska. Much depends on who the coach is and what defense the coach
will run.

11:01pm ET – See! I told you Tomlin has to let Dixon use his legs!! You should have gave me a shout out for that one!
They saved it all game for that one moment. He hit a high gear on that one.

11:06pm ET – Man, Dixon’s got wheels.

Effortless,
too. He’s almost got the burst Mike Vick used to have. It’s more like
the burst Vince Young had at the college level. No way they can keep
this guy on ice for long.

11:07pm ET – Mike are you real?
No. I am the computer that beat Dwight Schrute in a paper-selling
contest. And if I have said that earlier this year, I apologize. I am
merely adhering to my programming.

11:09pm ET – While watching that last Dixon TD, I swore it was Randall Cunningham. Same frame/style.
Good point. Either way, a star is being born. Steelers will have a
dilemma down the road. I’ve heard Tomlin doesn’t really like Ben. This
could make things very interesting.

11:10pm ET – What is the Saints secret to staying unbeaten?
Scoring more points than the other team each week.

11:11pm ET – How come your buddy Dwight didn’t have a show this week? And Thanksgiving is no excuse….
I agree. He has said that he celebrates no major holidays.

11:13pm ET – Ray Rice is VERY good.
OK, why does he not get the ball on every single play?

11:13pm ET – Was Flacco smiling when he threw that pass?
Doesn’t he have that flat non-smiling muppet mouth? After all, he looks just like Bert.

11:17pm ET – Florio, are you mad that Ray played for Rutgers?

Hell no; he never beat us. I’m just glad he left.

11:19pm ET – Is Ben trying to grow a mane like a lion?
He looks like a fat Will Ferrell. They probably look even more alike with their shirts off.

11:23pm ET – I am disgusted with the offense play calling that last drive.
They were paralyzed by fear of making a mistake.

11:27pm ET – Thanks again for taking everyone’s questions but mine, Mike.
You’re welcome.

11:30pm Et – HA!! OVERTIME! Told ya!

Wow. The football equivalent of a buzzer beater attempt in basketball.

11:34pm ET – Can this game end in a tie?
Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got a real, live NFL quarterback in the audience tonight.

11:36pm ET – How long was that last attempt?
Several yards shorter than it should have been. Officials screwed up
the spot after the fumble. As Al Michaels pointed out after the
commercial, it should have been moved back to the spot where Flacco
lost it.

11:37pm ET – Dixon has a good arm.
That was a missile he launched. I really like this kid.

11:39pm ET – What would be your ideal Super Bowl?

The game would be played in my backyard. In early June. With free hot dogs and beer.

11:40pm ET – Do you have a prediction for MNF tomorrow?
“Prediction? . . . Pain.”

11:41pm ET – Of course you like him! He’s from Oregon. We breed NFL-type players.
You mean like Akili Smith?

11:42pm ET – We can all tell your writing your own questions. You even able to read ours?
Nope.

11:43pm ET – Mike, why haven’t the Ravens defense exploited Dixon in his first start? Is Dixon that good?
Well, they just did. I still like Dixon. He did very well under tough circumstances.

11:45pm ET – Ben looked like someone stole his Twinkies after that pick.
It’s probably because someone had just stolen his Twinkies. The interception was purely coincidental.

11:46pm ET – Well, this one is pretty much over…
The fat lady is putting on her little coat.

11:48pm ET – New king in the AFC north? WHO DEY!
I still have a feeling the Bengals are gonna find a way to blow it.

11:57pm ET – Are you still there?
Sorry. Forgot to sign off. Thanks for hanging out with us tonight. See you next week for Vikings-Cardinals.

  4. Koheba says: Nov 29, 2009 8:47 PM

Why is holding never called for James Harrison? I have just noticed it in the Steelers games I have watched and it seems he is held 3/4 of the time.

  5. joe32077 says: Nov 29, 2009 8:51 PM

I hate the Steelers… here is hoping for a shutout and all the Stooler fans to cry.

  6. packerman126 says: Nov 29, 2009 8:53 PM

    Hey,
do the packers make the playoffs without kampman/harris, is almost making it enough for mccarthy and thompson so keep their jobs?

  7. Browns_fan_in_therapy says: Nov 29, 2009 8:55 PM

You have to go to the SNF Extra link to ask a question. Every week there are 50+ questions in the “comments” section. It’s funny how many people haven’t figured that out yet…

  8. jonnyfootballhero says: Nov 29, 2009 9:04 PM

Sorry for the non-football question, but how can Tiger Woods dictate when he’ll talk to the police?? Does he fund the policeman’s ball or something?

  9. jonnyfootballhero says: Nov 29, 2009 9:05 PM

Dixon look great on that TD throw!

  10. ragujar says: Nov 29, 2009 9:08 PM

Brett Favre for MVP?!? Statistically he has been great to this point, but who have they beat?? Oh yeah, they lost to Pittsburgh because Favre turned it over twice.
Manning, Brees or CJ for MVP to this point.

  11. jonnyfootballhero says: Nov 29, 2009 9:09 PM

did you stop answering questions for tonight?

thanks, Browns_fan_in_therapy. i was new to this. i got it now.

  20. Agamemnon says: Nov 29, 2009 9:37 PM

    @ragujar
MVP = Most Valuable Player. Without Favre, the Vikes are, what, 6 and 5? Maybe 7 and 4?
I cannot argue that Brees, Chris Johnson, or Peyton Manning should get great consideration, but absolutely Favre deserves to be in that conversation.
And as far as who they beat, doesn’t dominating bad teams count? I think the Bengals would love to be able to do that…

  21. shabadoooo says: Nov 29, 2009 9:41 PM

i think it’s interesting that the packers play the cardinals the last game of the year in arizona, and may end up playing them the next week. how often does that happen?

  22. whodey5 says: Nov 29, 2009 9:45 PM

Assuming the Pats win tomorrow night, who is the #2 seed in the AFC if the playoffs started next week. Cincy, SD, and the Pats would all be tied with a 6-3 Conference record. Who wins the tie breaker?

Is Bruce Arians the worst Offensive Coordinator in the league? I mean that guy doesn’t have a clue. And Tomlin does nothing about it but stand there and chew gum.

    Mike,
Is Sandra Bullock the early front runner for Oscar for her role in “The Blind Side”?
Did Michael Oher have any objections to his portrayal in “The Blind Side”?

Do you think officiating is getting worse or technology is just getting better? Or both?

We went Wednesday night. Good, not great. Could have been 30 minutes shorter.
This must be a great movie if you think it’s Good

    Mike,
Do the cowboys lose in the first round of the playoffs again this year, and how do you like your Jelly Beans with your Milk Steak?

Hey Mike, Jason Campbell gets roughed up 2 or 3 times a game where you think they would throw a flag.Today he took a shot to the head and was slammed to the ground on the last play. Both no calls. People online are starting to say its because he is a black qb.What is your take on this?

Why in the discussion of great wide receivers is Welker never mentioned? Skin color? Slot receiver? Patriot hate?

If the Bengals lose to the Vikings and Chargers, do they still make the playoffs?

@philwauke – does your cable system pick up ESPN? Mortensen, Hoge, Allen. Throw in Peter King and it’s hard to say nobody is picking your team.

I think Troy Polamalu has great hair.
***Nobody is picking the saints tomorrow.***
No really! What kind of shampoo do you think he uses?
***If the Bengals lose to the Vikings and Chargers, do they still make the playoffs?***
Troy makes me want to have the QB throw a pick to him just so I can drag him down by that lovely hair!!!
(What do you think, Mr. Florio? Can I have the job? The pay would be about right….aw darn. Now I’m asking you questions in the comments!!!)

  40. PypersRealm says: Nov 29, 2009 11:09 PM

Question: Who do YOU think will be the best when all is said and done . . . Brady or Manning?
Florio: Manning. He’d have 4 or 5 rings if he had spent the last decade with Belichick and that defense.
    —————————————-
I’ve heard you say that on a couple of occassions and I cringe every time. Somehow the idea of crediting a player with achievements he never actually earned seems to completely demean the act of accomplishment.
All these players should have the opportunity to have their legacy’s judged by what they accomplish. Not what they “COULD have accomplished IF this, that or the other thing”. Those are excuses. Excuses are for losers. Peyton Manning is too great a player to have so many people demean him with these comments.
And Tom Brady deserves far better as well. It’s interesting how similar their per game averages actually are. The main difference between the two is that 1) Manning has 65 more starts in his career and 2) Manning plays ALL his home games in a weather-controlled dome.
Do people realize that Brady’s #’s indoors actually surpass Mannings on a per game basis? Brady also has the better numbers outdoors. The only thing that throws Mannings numbers higher is that he’s had so many more dome games.
With all that being said, what is it about Manning’s game that you like so much more than Brady’s?

9:05pm ET – Do you think the Patriots will beat the Saints tomorrow?
    Yes. Absolutely.
9:24pm ET – Mike, Saints will go down in flames after tomorrow?
I think they’ll lose convincingly, and that they’ll then have to try to refocus once they realize that beating the Pats, Colts, or Charger in the Super Bowl will be a tall order.
9:29pm ET – Mike, Who are the top 5 teams in the NFL right now?
    Colts, Saints, Vikings, Chargers, Patriots.
10:12pm ET – You say the Cowboys are overrated, all I ever hear is people writing them off, despite being 8-3 with a two-game lead.
Wait until the Saints get a crack at them. New Orleans scored 48 against the Eagles and 48 against the Giants.
Ok, so you rank the Saints above the Pats so far this season, yet say the Pats will win the game on Monday night… Then you comment that Dallas will still have trouble with them on the 19th… So… What is your REAL opinion of New Orleans at this time, are they a contender or a pretender?

  42. Richm2256 says: Nov 29, 2009 11:25 PM

Yeah, Brady would have gotten No. 4 two years ago if he had Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison instead of those stiffs Brady was throwing passes to.
Most moronic statement you’ve made in a month, Mike. Go back from 2001-2006 and see the receivers Brady had while Manning had Wayne and Harrison. With receivers like those, Brady would have done much more damage than the three SB’s he won anyway.

People really should read my comments if they did they might learn a thing or two.
First off the Cowboys dont have a 2 game lead technically they have a 1 game lead.
But in reality they are essentially tied with the Eagles. Like I said before if the Eagles and Cowboys go undefeated through the next 4 weeks or match each others win/loss records then their week 17 game would be for the division title (of course thats assuming the Giants arent a top of the division).
If the Eagles win that game then that would tie the Eagles with the Cowboys in their season series against each other and in the standings. So then the tie breaker would go down to who had the best division record and because they both would be going into week 17 4-1 in the division if the Eagles win that would make them 5-1 in the division and the Cowboys 4-2 in the division which would give the Eagles the tiebreaker and the division title.
So you really cant say you have a lead in the NFL if another team can beat you if they win out. If the cowboys want to win the division their going to have to go through the Eagles to do it and vice versa.

Bizarre comment from Mr. PFT. I expect better. I was hoping to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was referring to 2006.
It’s too bad the success of this site has gone to his head. I’ve been following PFT from the beginning long before he became the tool-bag he is today. What a shame.

“10:05pm ET – Who do you think is the most overrated team in the NFL?
    Cowboys.”
Seriously?Prove this. Who is over-rating them? Show one major media who is talking about the cowboys being one of the best. They lead their division, yet most everyone is picking someone else to win it and speak about their December slide. how can they be over-rated? Explain?
