Too much talk, not enough production for Kerry Rhodes?

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan's decision to bench safety Kerry Rhodes came as a surprise to those who know his reputation, but it apparently didn't come as a surprise to those who best know how he performs on the field.

In fact, one unnamed Jets player told the Star-Ledger that Rhodes is a big-time talker who doesn't back it up by being a big-time player.

"He's been chirping a lot and not playing very well," said the unnamed teammate. "I think this [his benching] is the best thing to happen to him. He needs to get hungry again."

In addition to Rhodes' failure to come up big on the field, it turns out that his contract isn't quite as big as advertised, either. So for the Jets, cutting Rhodes after the season wouldn't be quite as painful as his supposed $20 million guaranteed contract would suggest.

Which means that Rhodes has six more weeks to start playing better than he talks, if he wants to stay in New York.

He's just following his coaches' lead by running his mouth and not backing up a word of it. How can you fault him for doing what he's told?

The freakin team is 4 - 6!!! They're all mouth.

They cam oit early telling people they weren't gonna kiss rings... that they had shut down corners... that's it's not bragging if you're confident...

The New York Jets are who everyone thinks they are. An afterthought.

    Nobody cares about this team.

Maybe it's because he got pummeled by Laurence Maroney of all people.

He mouthed off last year about Brett......goes to show it was more than Brett that was the cause for the slide last year.....D couldn't hold up either.
Attend to your own business Rhodes..it's the only thing that counts with you or anyone else.

That's a great headline. The best thing is, you can insert any Jets player or coach's name at random, and it works.

ahh, the old "unnamed teammate" of the Jets strikes again, just like it did Favre last year. Is that organization full of cowards or what? If you have something to say, say it. Don't hide behind annominity.

Hypocrisy is the best way to get players to trust you. Rex Whynan is the biggest big-time talker on the team. The fish rots from the head. I can only hope Rex spends the next 5 seasons coaching the J-E-T-S.

FYI, They play the SuperBowl in Week 20 not 2!

It seems like Darrelle Revis should be able to make anyone look good...

Doesn't too much talk, not enough production, sum up many players on the Jets team, and their Head Coach, this season? Seriously, the same can certainly be said for the unnamed player, assuming there truly is a source for the statement (which stretches the imagination).

Rex Ryan - "I'm benching myself because I am talking a lot and not backing it up"

Actually I'm going to bench my whole team.

This just in ...GQ Sanchez now listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina. Sanchez has suffered severe mental stress from trying to decide between "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob"... Sanchez said "They're both so dreamy, how do I choose? If I haven't decided by gametime, I just don't see how I can play. Maybe I'll round up my party boys and go see the movie again.".... When asked for a comment, Rex Ryan, the Jets' obese head coach, did not seem concerned. He largely ignored the question, as he rummaged through the last of several 20 piece buckets of chicken that he had polished off. Ryan was content to grunt something about having the best team in football, as he lunged towards a heavily laden pizza delivery man who had just arrived.

These posts are such a joke. I try to see if intelligent people are making noteworthy posts and all I read are ignorant hate posts about either Rex Ryan or Mark Sanchez, that have no value other than to talk sh*t.

Exactly what about the Jets D isn't holding up?

That our best run stopper is out for the season and we still made the best combination of RB's in the NFL look like they play JV football today?

Bring your facts to the debate next time...
