Bucs' Johnson, Cox, Sears out for season

Three Tampa Bay players are out for the rest of the season after the Buccaneers made a trio of personnel moves today.

The Bucs placed cornerback Torrie Cox and punter Dirk Johnson on injured reserve after both sustained injuries in Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Cox suffered a hip injury, while Johnson sustained a hamstring injury.

The injury to Johnson came under unusual circumstances for a punter: He tore his hamstring while trying to throw a pass on a botched fake punt.

“When I was running and tried to plant, it popped,” Johnson said.

The Bucs also placed guard Arron Sears on the reserve/non-football list. Sears started every game except one the last two seasons, but this year he hasn’t played at all. Per Pewter Report, Sears has been dealing with a personal issue.

Rah will undoubtedly say the loss of the punter and Torrie Cox really hurt this team — maybe the Glazers are stupid enough to believe that and give him a second year. Dirk Diggler Johnson’s fake punt was the worst in the history of organized football. Pulling a hamstring trying to throw a pass defies the laws of physics. But, this is the same franchise that fired Dungy for making the playoffs and Gruden for finishing 9-7 two years in a row.

seems like teams that are struggling put alot of players on IR. Is it for an excuse to use at the end of the season to the owners or just bad luck?

    ModHairKen,
You’re an idiot…You don’t hire the youngest coach in the NFL and then fire him after one bad season especially when you’re still on the hook for Gruden and Allen’s salaries. You probably think Gruden won the super bowl with Dungy’s team. Typical, stupid Bucs Fan.
