Chiefs-Chargers one-liners

Four turnovers led to four Chargers touchdowns and a 43-14 loss for the Chiefs.

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles had a career-high 147 yards from scrimmage, but his fumble in the second quarter helped San Diego run away with the game.

The Chiefs secondary struggled all day, but didn’t blame the offense for putting them in tough spots.

Chiefs WR Chris Chambers caught a season-high seven passes and scored his third touchdown since joining the team.

Chiefs C Rudy Niswanger made two poor snaps in the shotgun during the third quarter.

Chargers QB Philip Rivers threw two touchdowns and made a block on a reverse by WR Vincent Jackson, but considered a 53-yard pass to WR Malcolm Floyd his favorite play of the day.

Rivers threw both scores to Chargers TE Antonio Gates, who added five other catches and finished with 118 yards.

Gates was also honored during halftime as the Chargers celebrated their 50th anniversary with the best players in franchise history.

The Chargers offensive line didn’t allow a sack for the second straight game.

Said Chargers coach Norv Turner of the defense generating four turnovers and a safety, “You create those plays with an attacking mentality. Attacking is coaching in terms of what
plays we’re calling and what we’re trying to get done. Attacking is
also in the mind-set of the player, knowing that he can beat
someone one-on-one and make a play.”
