Delhomme doesn’t know if he’s still the starter

Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme had what might have been the worst game of a season full of bad games on Sunday, throwing four interceptions in a loss to the New York Jets.

And now Delhomme says he thinks it stands to reason that coach John Fox is probably considering making a change.

I would assume, but to say we’ve talked, no we haven’t,” Delhomme said.

When asked directly if he thinks he’ll be the starter when the Panthers take on the Buccaneers Sunday, Delhomme said, “I don’t know.”

Fox doesn’t sound like he knows, either -- but he said he and the coaching staff talked about benching Delhomme in favor of starter Matt Moore during Sunday’s loss.

“There was discussion about it,” Fox said. “But overall, we felt like Jake was the best guy to be in there for what we were doing in this game, and that’s what we did.”

If Delhomme is the best guy going forward, that doesn’t say much for Moore. At this point, it’s hard to see what the Panthers have to lose by giving Moore a shot against the Bucs.
