If Panthers coach John Fox needed a excuse to bench Jake Delhomme, he’s got one. (Well, he’s got 18 interceptions to look at, but that didn’t seem convincing enough.)
Delhomme suffered a broken right finger late in Sunday’s 17-6 to the Jets; Carolina’s starter threw three of his four interceptions in the first half. It was Delhomme’s third game this year that he’s thrown at least three picks.
Fox considered pulling Delhomme against the Jets, and now has a convenient way to get an extended look at backup Matt Moore. Delhomme is considered “day-to-day” and Moore is expected to take the majority of reps at Wednesday’s practice.
Moore started three games at the end of the 2007 season, showing some promise.
