Dungy not interested in Notre Dame

Former Buccaneers and Colts coach Tony Dungy, who has made clear his lack of interest in returning to coaching at the NFL level, has now made clear his lack of interest in returning to coaching at the college level.

Per ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick has said that Dungy would be ideal for the job.

But don’t look for it to happen.

“Is there anything less than zero percent chance?  Because it’s less than that,” Dungy told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

So scratch Dungy off the list.  And check CFT for the latest info about the names that can be added to the list.

Dungy spent one season as an assistant coach in the college level. I think he realizes that there is a huge difference between the two levels. He knows the on the college level, the head coach spends more time away from the family than they do in the NFL.
I don’t think Dungy will ever return to coaching.

why would any coach want to go to notre dame?
top players don’t want to go to a school where academics comes before athletics. they want to go to a school where they will be preparing themselves for the next level of football. unless a coach can convince the university to become more lenient with their academic requirements, the program is going no where

Good for him. He seems happy where he is right now, especially helping out troubled NFL players. He doesn’t need the trainwreck that is the current state on Notre Dame football.

Dungy is smart and knows Peyton carried him to a SB win, he left while on top.
Just waiting for his invite to HoF cause you know they need a token entry for a coach of his..um..background.

Because he likely realizes that his lack of coaching skills have been overshadowed by the excellence of a certain Manning. Thus, he doesn’t want to ruin his reputation.

Wow, could it be that a coach who retires from the NFL and says he doesn’t want to coach again actually means it?

How does Dungy’s lack of interest in Notre Dame equate with a lack of interest in all of college football?
