Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner sat out Sunday’s loss to the Tennessee Titans with symptoms related to a head and neck injury suffered a week earlier. And Warner said after the Tennessee game that he doesn’t know if he’ll be ready for next week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports that Warner doesn’t know when he’ll play again because he doesn’t know when his post-concussion symptoms will go away. Neurological tests on Warner turned up no problems, but he still doesn’t feel ready to go.
“One day at a time,” Warner said. “I don’t know if there’s anything else scheduled, because neurologically, as far as the tests were concerned, the MRIs, everything looked good.”
But everything didn’t feel good. Warner said that when he woke up Sunday morning he realized he hadn’t recovered sufficiently to take the field.
“It’s feels like a light sensitivity or my eyes aren’t quite adjusted right,” Warner said. “I had some tightness in my neck all week, so I think we were trying gauge whether what I was feeling was coming from the issues in my neck or whether it was an issue with my head.
“If we could’ve pinpointed it and believed that it was just muscular and in the neck, then I probably would’ve played.”
The Cardinals will have an awfully tough time beating the Vikings without Warner on the field. But Warner’s
decision to treat his concussion with caution is a wise one.
Just as long as he’s back by Week 14, I’ll be happy. I need Fitzgerald and Boldin to bring their A-Game for me during my fantasy playoffs, and I’m not entirely confident in Matt Leinhart.
The Cardinals would have a awfully tough time beating the Vikings WITH Warner starting. He would be wise to sit this game out as the Vikings defense beats the hell out of QB’s. Ask Aaron Rodgers that question and he will let you know exactly how dominating the Vikings DL is.
If he plays this game, he is risking serious injury getting thrown to the ground by Jared Allen and company. What do they want, Warner missing this game, or Warner missing the rest of the season? Its their call.
Jared Allen just opened up another can of beer…
Neurological tests DO NOT turn up symptoms of concussion/post-concussion syndrome. Having a nuerosurgeon consult on these issues is worse than useless – since they don’t treat and don’t have the right training to make a correct decision on these issues.
If there are questions about his ability to withstand a hit and suffer additional head trauma, then Warner needs to be smart and be a cheerleader for Leinhart.
The Vikings D-line is not one to take a chance with, and the odds are that whoever the AZ QB is he will get a dozen or so solid hits with 3-6 of those being sacks.
It will be interesting to see how many purple jerseys are in the stands Sunday night — half the state lives there in the winter.
@ Vikes-n-Favre
Unfortunately, I gotta agree with you on this one. If he’s got any symptoms at all-STAY OUT OF THE GAME. Haven’t watched any Cards games this year but if his line is anywhere near on par with what the Pack was putting on the field during those two Vike games, unless he is 100% sure he is perfectly healthy, he needs to sit. Course, he does get rid of the ball alittle faster than Aaron does but still–there’s life after football and he needs to enjoy a few of those millions.
PervyHarvin you have waayyyyyy too much time on your hands bro.
Haha it’s funny how all the Vikings fans want him to stay out becuase it means they will probably get an easy win. They won’t admit it but that’s what you are thinking. If All Day was in the same
situation come playoff time you guys would want him in no matter what becuase with out him you are much less balanced and Favre…is Favre. I hope he sits out every game too, not really for his saftey, but becuase I’m a Niner fan and if they lose to the Vikings and we beat the Seahawks then they have to come to SF with a chance for us to tie, with St. Louis and Detroit still on our schedule. I’m just not masking what I want in some injury crap.
Does Warner really want 700 pounds of Williams man-meat piling on him for three hours next Sunday? I think not.
And then there’s Jared Allen. And Ray Edwards. And Jimmy Kennedy. And Robison.
Looks like whoever draws the short straw plays QB Sunday.
The Vikings’ (thus far) charmed season continues. And NBC has to be ecstatic that it chose a game that people will be turning off at halftime.
I’m going to that game and I do look forward to the Warner/Farve matchup, but I understand Warner wanting/needing to sit one more week.
As has been said above, the Vikes line is nothing to mess with, and if you go in at less than 100% you are asking for nothing but trouble!
Seriously Kurt?

LOL Sometimes. I made my cheese bro, don’t hate. It all good!
Well, the Vikings still have about 9 cans of whoop-arse to open up, and they’re bringing one to Arizona.
Leinart’s big break (again).
Go get’em Matt, a chance to show you should be the starter regardless.
Funny listening to James Lofton (old receiver) talk about how when he was playing – playing with a concussion was a badge of honor.
I don’t blame him for wanting to take a pass this week. He’s got a 2 game lead in the division and a much easier schedule after they play the Vikings. Throw Leinart to the wolves this week and then start against the 49ers next.
