Veteran offensive lineman Jon Runyan joined the Chargers last week for the six-game stretch run.
And for the first game of that run, he wasn't active.
For the second, he might be.
"He's a lot more comfortable than he was a week ago," coach Norv Turner said in comments distributed by the team. "We'll see how it goes this week. There's a chance he'll be active this week."
But if Runyan is active, he likely will be coming off the bench.
"I don't see him starting this week," Turner said. "That could change as we go through the week."
The Chargers open the December portion of their schedule with road games against the Browns and Cowboys, and Turner has not lost a game in two prior Decembers with the team.
"There are a lot of things that go into it," Turner said. "I think we've got real good players. I think there's great focus. I think the schedule the last two years has helped us. I think the schedule is much more difficult this year. There are a lot of things that are a part of that."
Last year, the Chargers beat the Raiders, Chiefs, Bucs, and Broncos in December. The prior year, San Diego beat the Chiefs, Titans, Lions, Broncos, and Raiders.
Runyan could make his debut this week
