Tommie Harris calls Favre his "daddy"

Five years ago, Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez famously tipped his hat to the Yankees, and called them his daddy.

Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris has added another memorable entry into the daddy quote lexicon after Chicago’s 36-10 loss to Brett Favre and the Vikings.

“They play well up front and they got a daddy [Favre] in the backfield.
I felt like a little kid out there with a daddy just beating us up,” Harris told the Chicago Tribune.

Between Harris’ comment and Brian Urlacher’s remarks Sunday, the Bears are providing a lot of good quotes for the team’s 2009 yearbook.

Let’s just hope Vikings fans don’t turn this one into a chant next season.

The Vikings are the Bears daddy, the Lions daddy, and most definitely the useless GB Packers daddy.
What do all 3 of those teams have in common? That’s right, they got their asses handed to them by Favre and the Vikes.
It was fun watching them beat the shit out of the Lions and Bears, but it was flat out entertaining watching them beat the shit out of GB not once, but twice this year. I have respect for Chicago and Detroit, but none whatsoever for those pathetic Packers.

Then after a hot start where he threw almost no interceptions, it’s “Just wait until the second half, Favre and the Vikings will fall apart!”
Now, we’re half way through the second half, and now it’s, “Well….well….he sat out camp, give him another 4 or 5 games!”
You Favre haters are a joke, but even more, you’re dead wrong about the guy and the Vikings. Tip your cap now or you’re just going to be wrong for another two months.

You Packer fans do realize, that even if Green Bay gets into the playoffs (big if), they will have to win a wild card game, on the road, before they even get a chance at the Vikes. And there’s a good chance, that if they win their first game, they would then travel to New Orleans to play the Saints before getting a crack at the Vikes. This means that Green Bay, a team that can’t even beat Tampa Bay on the road, would have to win a game, and probably 2, against playoff teams on the road. Probably not going to happen boys and girls.

Interesting SI players poll asking players to name the teams they’d least like to play for — the Packers were third ahead of even the most crappy teams. Those are my thoughts exactly. Much as I would hate to see the Vikings finally win it all, their fans (the loyal, long-term ones, not the recent bandwagoners) deserve it, and Favre has earned it.
Most of all, it would almost certainly guarantee Thompson would get his walking papers, which would mean the Packers could get back to respectability and have a unified fan base once again. That alone might make the pain of a Viking championship easier to accept.

  52. Ron says: Nov 30, 2009 5:55 PM

Packers were plagued by line issues during the first two games. The Vikings have provided Favre the type of line protection a QB could dream for, while Rodgers put up elite numbers running for his life. Few Packers fans miss his media-whorish presence. I’d love to hear his excuse for blowing the NFC championship against the Giants. He had his chances to drive down the field to field goal range, and blew it. btw, Brian Dawkins called and said thanks again for the INT in 2003 playoffs. So did the Rams secondary for the SIX picks in the 01 playoffs. If the Vikings face the Packers in the playoffs, look for Woodson to be his number one WR. Packers reclaim the NFC North throne come postseason.

  53. alphamail says: Nov 30, 2009 6:02 PM

I love how much hate Vikes fans have for the Packers, when the Packers know the #1 rival is Chicago. Oldest rivalry in the NFL, 20 championships between the two teams. Dozens of Hall of Famers. Vikings? Sure, a border rival, but please….2nd bananas, down there with Detroit in the who cares? division.
I don’t believe in hexes or curses, but I won’t be surprised if the Vikings collapse against a quality team in the playoffs. Beating GB is not difficult….beating New Orleans, Indy, New England, etc….they can do it but can you really trust Childress, Peterson, and Favre to all come through in the clutch? Come on.

Face the facts Packer fans, you can hoot n hollar about how loyal you are and how much love you have for your team, but if it weren’t for metro areas like Minneapolis, Chicago and beyond, your team wouldn’t exist.

    ——
may i remind you favre was mostly the reason why you were in the nfc championship game. and while we’re talkin about it, how has rodgers done since then? he has taken same team favre had and petered out. so i ask you, what is so great about rodgers? those big numbers mean nothing if you don’t get to the playoffs and win it.

    you can’t be serious?!?!
maybe you are. i hope you’re on meds or something. did you even read that statement?
so you’re happy that the packers are where they are instead of 10-1? you’d rather have rodgers getting sacked all day? you’d rather the vikings sweep you in the division and THEN get beat by the bucs?
why don’t you aim a little higher next time. oh and by the way one of favre’s 2 interceptions was a deflection off of the INTENDED receiver.
i’d say favre looks a lot better than rodgers.
    ====================================
Of course not. We’d rather be on top of the division where we belong while Minnesota sits on the bottom of the shit pile, where they belong. But this is one season out of at least 10 more for Rodgers, and one where we’re fighting for a playoff spot. Meanwhile, you’re having one good season out of a possible two with Brett. Should he decide to retire after this season, what do you do next season? Or how about the season after?
And the truth is we haven’t missed Brett. Rodgers is performing at an exceptionally high level, despite taking an obscene amount of sacks. And he’s improving. And it’s possible he’s going to continue to be good for years to come. Can’t really say the same for the Vikings. Unfortunately for you, you’re chips are all in for this season, maybe next season. After that it’s gonna be back to the drawing board while the Packers, Bears and Lions all pull ahead.

    2) Like him or love him I think anyone would agree Favre is having a great season. The Vikings have great balance and the defense has played well.
    3) Rodgers is having a nice season, that is true but one person can only do so much. One of your best DL, Kampman, is almost invisible every game. I could prolly get a sack on that OL and the running game is nonexistant and yet you’re talking about the playoffs. How on earth do you think they’ll make the playoffs with those glaring holes?

LOL! I think this is so funny. Ted Thompson is a moron. Most people dont understand the things this guy did to try and chase off Brett. The Packers would never really truly be “his” team until Brett was gone…look at some of the decision…Rivera and Wahl, Randy Moss etc…
I hope somehow the Packers and Vikings face-off in the playoffs. I want Brett Favre to beat them again…and if he decides to come back at least two more times next year.
The loyalty Brett showed to that organization is incredible…I live south of GB and I can tell you he would have made a ton more money playing just about anywhere else. Not much here endorsement wise. Favre stayed around when he was a FA…Loyalty. Interesting – actually more like pathetic that they couldnt return the favor.

Also how do many of you Pack fans say there are so many bandwagon jumpers cheering for the Vikes on here?
How do you come up with that assessment?
Is it because of the names you see on PFT?
This is my first year on PFT, but I have been a diehard fan of the Vikes since my teens, have several jersey’s from each year and favorite players. I’m 41 now! I try to go to atleast one game a year, because I live 350 miles away, still in Mn though.

Motor City Madman, Marco Rivera was hurt constantly after he left Green Bay and retired soon after. Mike Wahl was terrible in Carolina and finished his career in Seattle last year on a bad offensive line.
Randy Moss could have been had, but the Packers have a great group of wide receivers. Greg Jennings is one of the best receivers in the league and he was a Thompson draft pick.
Favre is having a great year, there is no denying that. But Rodgers is also having a great year behind a far worse offensive line. If Favre was behind that offensive line his precious starting streak would have ended a long time ago. You actually have Ted Thompson to thank for getting rid of your hero so he can have such a season with the Vikings.
But hey, you live south of Green Bay so of course you have all the inside news on what happened with the Packers and Favre. If I were you I would contact Florio so you can give your inside account. This will definitely be a must read, since you are obviously the smartest football mind that posts on this site.

Harris probably won’t be back next year unless he takes a pay cut.
Urlacher and his great defense were the ones getting worn down last year after Orton and his 3 and outs. 27th ranked defense last year, but at least they had a running game. No defense and no running game this year, not much anyone could do. Had a good defense and run game the SB year and it has been on steady decline since.
Cutler was brought in as a last hope to try and salvage Angelo’s and Lovie’s job. Bears would be worse off if Orton was around – they never would have humbled the defending champs in Chicago 17-14 with Orton at QB.
