Peyton Manning takes the lead in Pro Bowl voting

As the returns continue to be reported from precincts throughout the United States, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has claimed the top spot in the annual Pro Bowl voting.

Previously, Saints quarterback Drew Brees owned the top spot, with Manning in second place.

With three weeks of voting to go, Manning has 853,565 votes.  Brees has 848,624.

Two Vikings have flipped positions No. 3 and No. 4, with quarterback Brett Favre (840,498) now leading running back Adrian Peterson (838,985).

Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald (529,904) remains entrenched at No. 5; Pats quarterback Tom Brady has leapfrogged Bengals running back Cedric Benson (469,568) for the sixth position.

Up two spots to No. 8 is tight end Dallas Clark (462,638).  Texans receiver Andre Johnson (422,888) is still at No. 9, and Colts receiver Reggie Wayne (414, 931) has entered the top ten, at No. 10.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, previously No. 7, is no longer in the top ten.

At the various positions, the Vikings continue to dominate, with Peterson, fullback Fahu Tahi, tackle Bryant McKinnie, guard Steve Hutchinson, center John Sullivan, kicker Ryan Longwell, kick returner Percy Harvin, defensive end Jared Allen, defensive tackle Pat Williams, punter Chris Kluwe, and special-teamer Heath Farwell currently in first place.

The Pro Bowl will be played on the Sunday before the Super Bowl in Miami.  We’ll be there; why not get a ticket or two and join us?

Too bad Manning and Brees won’t be playing in the Pro Bowl because they’ll be facing off in the Super Bowl…

  2. hay1111 says: Dec 1, 2009 4:42 PM

I guess it’ll be an all-Viking Pro Bowl because they certainly won’t be playing the game that matters

  3. nfcbeast says: Dec 1, 2009 4:45 PM

Too bad lil bro Eli wont be there…..Peyton can get him a souvenier while he is down in Miami….course he probably wont play b/c he will be in the Super Bowl. Maybe he can just take Eli to Pollo Tropical!! (best “fast food” in Miami) They might need to bring Mark Sanchez to order for them though….

oh my….sure this thread will bring out the Viking haters in full force! Enough already, worry about YOUR team!

  5. packers4life says: Dec 1, 2009 4:48 PM

Who the hell is Fahu Tahi? and wasn’t Chris Kluwe about to get cut at one point this season?

  6. evilmajortom says: Dec 1, 2009 4:48 PM

Sullivan hasn’t played that good, he’s been above average at best.
Tahi shouldn’t be there either, maybe if he could open a hole for AP once in a great while.

Wow, I am shocked. Stankass Florio got through this article without slamming the Cleveland Browns. I expected a “Brady Quinn is only 753,682 votes behind Peyton Manning in the Pro Bowl voting” at the end of this article. Florio you’re such an arrogant piece of crap and with my Journalism degree and a superior knowledge of sports to yourself I openly challenge you to your job.

Not only did you make the joke for him, you reamed him out for no real reason. Good job…?

What does it matter if you vote for Favre, he’ll never go. He has his head buried too deep in his own ass to give a damn about his “fans.”

  15. natelan says: Dec 1, 2009 5:16 PM

As a Charger fan, I’m slightly disappointed, although not entirely surprised, that there are no Chargers even mentioned on this list…
Rivers? Gates? VJ? Getting no love? None? Nada?
Remember last year, when Rivers threw for a league-high 34 TD’s vs. 11 INT’s, led the league with a 105.5 avg. passer rating, and still didn’t make it to the pro bowl…?
But Jay Cutler got in last year instead?
    It’s got to be a conspiracy…

Every story on here talks about the stanky Vikings fans. Well, even though I think the Pro Bowl fan vote is a joke, I stuff the ballot box anyways because they allow me to.
    SKOL!!!!!

Bingo. Watch Ryan Clady miss the pro bowl again after setting an NFL record this season.
Too many players that are having great seasons will miss out to big name players who are past their prime and to homer fans with nothing to do and an affinity to clicking.

Furburger, could you be a bigger douche? Why do you still read the site so religiously?
And Hay1111, are you certain that they’re certainly not going to play in the game that matters?

    sigh… people are so stupid.

The Vikes will be in Miami, so that will allow Karen Rodgers, Georgia Jennings, and Daniela Driver to go as replacements.

  22. purpleguy says: Dec 1, 2009 6:09 PM

Tahi and Sullivan should only be at that game if they’re in the stands drinking beer and eating hot dogs.

  23. chapnasty says: Dec 1, 2009 6:21 PM

The Pro Bowl hasnt been relevant since the internet allowed fans to vote multiple times.

  24. CanadianVikingFan says: Dec 1, 2009 6:30 PM

Ok, Nafahu Tahi, John Sullivan, and Chris Kluwe definately do not deserve any spot on the pro-bowl. Pat Williams, I could see as a part of the wall. But those 3 are just rediculous. As for Ryan Longwell, sure why not. Its just kickers.
Harvin, Favre, Peterson, Allen, Hutch deserve though, Iffy on Bryant McKinney.

nobody cares about the pro bowl. or who is in it. the only people that this matters to is the players contracts and legacy: more probowls = more money, and bigger legacy.

  28. shaggeez says: Dec 1, 2009 7:25 PM

who the hell is giving cedric benson more love than cj.
ridiculous. oh well even better would be to have cj not play and not risk injury.

You and your little band of brothers do the same damn thing. Get over yourself.
What, are you Adam Shitterson in disguise?
You seem to have to answer every post with a comeback.
I’d tell you to stick to the Packer threads, but they are so irrelevant to playoff football, there are hardly ever any new ones.

Dude, I don’t do that kind of crap. Maybe some other Packer fans do but that doesn’t mean I do.
I would like to know where you found a post of mine where I changed a player’s name to a girls’ name.

“You spelled Favre wrong up there smart guy, its F-A-V-R-E, not B-R-E-E-S.”
    ————————-
no, Favre spells Favre wrong. it’s F-A-R-V-E.
either pronounce your own name correctly, or change the spelling. Brett, you’re an idiot. you’re from the bayou and clearly have a french name. in no country, or language, is AVRE pronounced ARVE. it’s like he went for a castle move with the V and the R. (yes that was a chess reference and i’m embarrased).
i may even be ok with pronoucing it “FAV”, if you could convince me of a silent “R” existing. but not the Mississippi letter swap.
