Firstly Bobby is the man and you people dont have a single idea of what he’s about. He doesn’t broadcast the games, he does the post game show and hes not a sportswriter. He’s from LA, played college here and played for the Saints. The self-proclaimed founder of the “Who-Dat Nation” he is nothing more than the avid Saints fan alive. He has a radio program after the games in which he

As teke184 points out, Hebert is strictly a pre- and post-game guy, so it’s his job to be homer. That said, he’ll slap ‘em around when they’re not playing well.
The Saints game announcers – Jim Henderson and Hokie Gajan – are actually pretty tough on the team. I remember a Gajan comment from a few years back: “There’s a word for the Saints secondary, and that word is ‘sucks’.”

Actually, SmackMyVickUp, when Hebert started for the Saints he was 21-0 against AFC teams and the Saints had the 3rd best record in the league over a 5 yr period (#1 was SF (same division), and #2 was Buffalo).

I think we’re missing the point a bit. In conveying in your medium, if you want to be a cheerleader or not, that’s up to you. If you are a ‘homer’ on radio, TV, or print, knock yourself out.
What you can’t do is overtly cheer in the pressbox and it’s always been that way. That’s always meant not appaulding or cheering like Herbert did in the YouTube clip noted later in the post (fumble/TD cheer).
Journalists are supposed to be impartial. Whether you actually are in what you write or broadcast, that’s up for debate. But applauding or cheering like Herbert did? Way over the line.

This story is hilarious – I was at work Monday night in the midwest, with no TV, and so I went about perusing on-line radio stations to find the game.
I found one that featured some periodic commentary by Hebert, and not only is he an unforgiving Saints homer, but when did he begin sounding like the late-great Wolfman Jack?

In radio, the homer rules don’t apply…TV, yes…unless they are also watching Favre, then they also lick his ass.
To the dumbass that talks about “dumb Cajuns” Saints fans are more loyal than what I assume are the fans of your overrated team, the Vikings. The Superdome is a far superior facility to the Metrodome, it sells out regularly, especially when they host a playoff game, unlike that dump in Minneapolis.
To the Vikings fan who referenced a playoff game from 12 years ago, well, at least you’ll always have that game to hang your hat on…dumbass.

I just became a bigger fan of Bobby Hebert. That was great.
Native son and former team QB. Of course he’s gonna root for them. Doesn’t look like he’s calling any kind of game. So who cares?
Our Dolphins radio color guys (also former Phins players) scream like banshees when we score. And the fans LOVE it.
The only people who don’t like this kind of thing are…..other media types.
