Chargers concerned about Merriman's injuries

San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has started all 11 games this season. But the Chargers are concerned that he won’t be able to make it five more.

Kevin Acee of the Union-Tribune reports that foot tendinitis and other injuries that have limited Merriman’s playing time might force him to miss Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns — and more games after that.

The Chargers signed linebacker Marques Harris Tuesday to bolster their linebacker depth. In addition to Merriman’s injuries, linebackers Jyles Tucker and Antwan Applewhite have been placed on injured reserve.

Chargers coach Norv Turner said he might sideline Merriman for the Browns game, and Acee reports that Turner and other team officials think Merriman won’t get better unless he rests.

Merriman, who played in only one game in 2008 because of a knee injury, has battled a groin injury in addition to the foot injury.

@texasPHINSfan: At the very least Merriman should contact Santonio Holmes to see if Santonio can make a call to see if his dealer can hook him up with some weed to ease his pain.

This is bad news for the Bolts because they are going to need him to slow down the Browns potent offensive attack this weekend.

Merriman should call an electrician; his lights have been out for awhile.

Heaven forbid! How will the Boltz every replace his 2 tackles a game! The only hard hit he made all year was to 90 lbs Tila!
Cut his butt…..there are dozens of guys looking for work that can provide his level of play for a whole lot less!
Other then Urslacker….is there another LB more over-rated?
