In Week 11, a stellar performance by quarterback Brett Favre (22 of 25, 213 yards, four touchdowns) was overshadowed by Lions quarterback Matt Stafford.
In Week 12, another great day from Favre (32 of 48, 392 yards, three touchdowns) was overshadowed by Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
For all of November, however, Favre stands alone.
He’s the NFC offensive player of the month, for the sixth time in his career and the first time since November 2004. Favre also is the first Vikings player to win the honor since quarterback Daunte Culpepper in October 2004.
In four games, beginning with his return to Lambeau Field, Favre threw 130 passes, completed 91 of them, and generated 1,193 yards.
Most impressive of all? He threw 12 touchdown passes and zero interceptions.
By our calculations, Favre racked up a passer rating of 129.3 for the month.
And the dude is 40.
40 yrs old and no slowing down…….. WOW!
who cares.
It doesn’t matter how old you are……If you are a GOD. He makes everyone around him a better football player. Now, only if he could make AP hold onto the damn ball. Thank You Brett, we needed you!

Good thing Brett was kicked off the Packers Train when it left the station or he’d be stuck playing with Thompson’s NFLE rejects. I wonder how McCarthy and Thompson like their crow prepared ?
Sweet sweet revenge.
Favre Four MVP !!!
He also went 10-14, 119 yards and 2 TD’s in the Wrangler Bowl that they show clips of on TV sometimes.
Amazing to see what this old man can finally do after getting out of that crappy organization known as green bay and with a team that has some talent around him.
Amazing to think what he could have done on top of all of his accomplishments already if the Green Bay Sackers weren’t holding him back all of his career. I bet he can keep playing at this lever for another year or two with the Vikes.
He plays like he is 25, I really never questioned it, I questioned the players, coaching but never Favre… he has made bone headed plays but he was really shafted when it came to talent.
he had not Jerry Rice, Randy Moss or Marvin harrison.

clearly you are concerned enough about it to try and dampen others enjoyment of the fact. You out yourself as being concerned over the fact that Favre is clicking with the vikes in a way he never could with the packers. quit being a closet vikings and favre fan and jump on board. The vikes will certainly appreciate the fans of all three lesser NFC north teams cheering their division champions on to greater things.
I think Uncle Leo might have just jumped off a bridge.
That is probably what most FudgePacker fans should do. It is criminal what they did to Favre (i.e. surrounding him with NO talent over the past 10+ years.
And I cant remember the last time I took a dump and flushed the Favre’s down the toilet.
Favre will choke and meltdown, its just taking awhile, stay tuned…
i sure do hope he can keep this up!
How does a reporter ask Favre if he is thinking about retiring after this year?
Brett, you have typically been asked about, and pondered, retirement by now. Your thoughts?
I can remember all the idgits that in the beginning of the season said he wouldn’t last half the year, that he would throw 3 ints a game, all that crap……
Wonder where they are now!
@Uncle Leo
There’s nothing wrong with that.
Where are all the Packer fans to say:
Get ready, the trainwreck’s comin!
Or:
Vikes and Favre will choke in the playoffs!
You’ll see! Its comin Queens!
They keep on saying how Favre has helped coaches around him land jobs or get extensions (Gruden, Mariucci, Holmgren, Chilly. . . ). Add Florio to the list of people riding the Favre gravy train. Mike, where would your website hits be this year in relation to last sans Favre “un”retirement?
I gotta say I am a Packer fan and still a little bitter to see Brett in purple, and I will say I am impressed with his play. However, I think Brees is more deserving of the NFC POM award and also MVP. He straightup out performs Favre. To sum it up Favre=great, Brees=Really great.

When the 40 year old Favre finally has a bad game, even if it’s the Superbowl, these geniuses will crow, “Told ya so.”
(… then suck down another beer and pump their fist in triumph.)
Suck on this:
10 – 1.
That’s ten losses for you.
Brett is great theatre. It is just a great story.
One may never see something like this again…
However… It was still the right move for the Packers to move on. There is no doubt about that for the reasonably sane.
No doubt what so ever.
Favre winning this award still doesn’t mean Green Bay made a mistake by getting rid of him. In case anyone forgot, Rodgers won the Player of the Month award for October.
“Amazing to see what this old man can finally do after getting out of that crappy organization known as green bay and with a team that has some talent around him.
Amazing to think what he could have done on top of all of his accomplishments already if the Green Bay Sackers weren’t holding him back all of his career. I bet he can keep playing at this lever for another year or two with the Vikes.”
Sorry but the 1996 Packers had just as much if not more talent around Favre then Favre has right now.
and the Packers holding him back? Dude bullshit. Favre had every oppourtunity to retire and leave the Packers but every time he decided not to retire and come back to the Packers. So therefore it was him that kept coming back. It wasn’t the Packers holding him back.
What Favre is doing now will never, ever, ever eclipse of what he did in Green Bay. Never. And don’t try to make it look that way either.
Crappy organization? Packers? You mean the team that actually sells out games without help from TV stations? And are never on a verge of blackouts?
Anyone who has the audacity to suggest the current Minnesota team is more talented than the 96 (or 97 or even the 2007) Packers are ignorant at best…which fits since most talking heads and media hacks, like the one here that regularly licks Favre’s ass….these are the same people who thought Ricky Waters was a HOF back, that Blair Thomas was a great draft pick for the Jets and that Gino Toretta was the next Dan Fouts. Little more than flavor of the week BS fueled by the media’s love for Favre…the same love that Florio himself bitched about for years, but now he is more guilty of it than most? Not only a hack but a sellout too…his office must be adjacent to Olbermann’s….that would explain alot.
Favre NEVER had a running game like he has in MN. Say what you want about ’96. They won the Superbowl. They were great. But, don’t try to pretend that this team isn’t anywhere near as good as the ’96 Packers team. This team hasn’t done anything yet, but so far, I think it’s entirely valid to compare them to, even argue that they surpass, the ’96 Packer team.
Well said, Fire Ted. Commercialized, it is, but the man has a right to make some money off it.
I’d do it in a heart beat, and he is probably just getting caught up in it.
Kinda like Favre. Florio, when will you retire? Have you pondered retirement on the long trip to N.Y.?
Fan_Of_Four, Aaron Rodgers was the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for the month of September. Charles Woodson is a front-runner for the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Greg Jennings and Donald Driver are one of the best one-two punches in the NFL as far as receiver goes. Clay Matthews is having an impressive rookie campaign.
These are not NFLE rejects. They are actually quite good and are very young as a team. The Packers future is looking bright.
You seem like a very strange man or woman that has an unnatural love affair with a forty-year old quarterback and an intense hatred for the Packers GM who’s only crime in your eyes ran said quarterback out of town for an ultra talented twenty-five-year old.
You’re obviously not a Packer fan anymore, and that’s probably a good thing. Because really, liking a team for just one player? That’s something a third grader does. It’s pathetic.
Fire Ted says:
“Anyone who has the audacity to suggest the current Minnesota team is more talented than the 96 (or 97 or even the 2007) Packers are ignorant at best.”
I guess that would be Favre, himself, you are talking about. He was the first one to say it.
I’m just enjoying the amazing season that’s being put together by a legend. For those of you that haven’t watched every second of the Vikes games really have no room to speak. The season Favre has put together is seriously something special, former NFL QBs are saying they haven’t seen quarterbacking like this ever.
Ever.
And there’s really no sign of Brett or the Vikes slowing down, so if you’re waiting for a meltdown, don’t hold your breath.
love him or hate him…but you gotta enjoy the flippin show!!!! And pervyharvin…you got WAY to much time on your hands bro!!
If the Packers did the right thing by moving on from Favre why is it that Packer fans won’t stop complaining about him? You have a good QB and Aaron Rodgers. For an organization that has such a winning history, the GB fans sure are bitter. It goes beyond Favre playing for the Vikings. Either GB fans are cocky because they’re on top or angry and complaining because a another team besides them are dominate in the NFC North. I get it that you people are ‘real fans’ and ‘stick by your team win or lose’. I just don’t get the over the top pissed off attitude when you’re not on top and the over the top arrogance when you are. GB is in the hunt for a wild card and statistically your defense can’t be denied. You have things going for you, the complaining and whining is getting really old though.

Brees had a good November, no doubt, but it didn’t stack up to Favre’s.
In five games Brees completed 71% of his passes for an average of 283.8 yards per game, threw 13 TDs and 4 Ints.
In four games Favre completed 70% of his passes for an average of 323 yards per game, threw 12 TDs and zero picks.
Favre’s lowest QB rating for a game in November was topped only twice by Brees.
Both are playing great as are a number of QBs this year. Yes Pack fans, including Rodgers. Take a look at the QB stats for this year and there are about a dozen having really good years. Should make for some good games down the stretch!
@ Fire Ted
I guess we should all accept your amature, biased opinion on comparing the ’96 Packers & the ’09 Vikings rather than that of multiple unbiased experts.
Here are a few things for you to chew on:
The top three WRs for GB in ’96 totaled 2,225 yrds & 16 TDs, while the Viking’s top three this year already have 1972 yrds & 13 TDs.
The Vikes TEs currently have 460 fewer yrds, but have just as many TD as GB had all year.
GB’s RBs totaled 1,867 yrds from the line of scrimage, while Minnesota’s have already accumulated 1,841 yrds & 14 TDs.
Jacke hit 21-27 FGs & 50-51 PATS, while Longwell is 18-19 & 40-40 respectively. Hentrich punted for a 42.4 average, Kluwe is averaging 43.6.
Desmond Howard’s returns averaged 15.1 per punt (3 TDs) & 20.9 kickoffs. Reynaud is averaging 11.6 per PR and Harvin is @ 29.8 (2 TDs) per KR.
I would take McKinnie & Hutchinson from the Vikes & Winters & Timmerman from GB, and probably Dotson slightly over Loadholt at this point.
The LBs are a push across the board and the DBs are 3-1 in favor of GB.
The Williams Wall takes it easily over G Brown & S Dotson, and Edwards already has better stats than S Jones had for his entire season. And whether you want to hear it or not, J Allen’s stats already surpass R White’s as well. Remember, while White was great, he wasn’t in his prime in ’96.
I realize stats don’t tell the whole story, but there really isn’t much more to go on when comparing players sperated by 13 years. My point isn’t to say the Vikings are more talented than the ’96 Packers, but to show you the claim isn’t so outrageous when you set aside biased viewpoints.
That Packer team accomplished something this Viking team is striving to do, and as Favre pointed out, there’s more to being a great team than just being talented. The claim doesn’t take anything away from that ’96 team anyway.

Ya, just look at Brent’s stats in just the playoff games of 2001-2007.
You Favre jihadists don’t seem to grasp that HE retired in 2008. He hated not having some control over the team under Mike Sherman and he HATED the fact that McCarthy actually made him work before the season, which one can say translated into a rebirth of his career after lackluster seasons in 2005 & 2006.
If he hates Ted Thompson for drafting Aaron Rodgers, blame the 49ers on that one, not TT. The anti-Ted/anti-Packer crowd would’ve roasted TT for NOT drafting Rodgers I suspect as well.
He’s a 40 year old man playing a vendetta against a team and fans that would’ve done anything for him.

Isn’t it funny how good he can play when he cares about playing? It is still funny to compare him to the Favre that played against the Giants two years ago in the Championship game. He was cold and running on fumes..He was done. I wonder if he would still be playing on the same level if he wasnt on a team in a dome? His worst game of the season was outside. Im not saying…im just saying…..
Yah,all you other fans are right. The Vikings fans have no right to be proud of our team.We should just sit back, shut up and listen to the fans of “real teams”
I mean,we did lose one game…far from perfect.
Our QB is old…shouldn’t be taken seriously.
Our RB fumbles a bit…he surely can’t be a threat.
We have a receiver named Rice…but it isn’t Jerry.
We have a d-end who has a mullet,has to be a joke.
Having a rookie return kickoffs and on the receiving corps is asking for trouble.
Our coach wears hair hats and dresses at times, surely he don’t know ball.
We play in a shitty dome, who could take us seriously?
Stomping a team twice that has 3 Super Bowl and 9 NFL Championships in the past had to be a fluke right? You know, being that past history is so relevant today. Guess the Vikings should just give up now then.
We will go away now. Sit back and watch. See the Packers storm through the wild card and on to the Superbowl. Where Rodgers will be MVP with play as brilliant as if he pulled Bart Starr out of his ass. Its inevitable. History says so.

Guess that just proves that the little prima donnas coming into the NFL today are, well prima donnas. Poor little babies don’t wanna play out on the cold, frozen tundra. Want them a nice climate controlled dome to play in or some nice place out west or down in Florida..
Or, it could just be that TT’s there.
For anyone who doubts Favre for MVP, firstly his stats are better than anyone. He’s only 3TD’s behind Drew, then factor in that Brett was still learning the offense in weeks 1 & 2, so he could’ve easily added 3 to his total from those 2 games against horrible teams.
And here’s the biggest factor, Brett is playing this well, not only in his first season, but after 2 weeks of pre-season!!!!
No training camp, no prep, no nothing, except 4 preseason games (I count weeks 1 & 2 vs. DET, and CLE as preseason)
As of today, Brett Favre has been a Viking for 3 1/2 months. Let me repeat that, Brett Favre has been a Viking for 3 1/2 months!!!! How can anyone compare his impact on this team in such a short time, and throw in the fact that the man is 40 years old, and its not like he rested for the past 2 years healing up, he’s never missed a game since 1992!!!!
As someone once said, Superman wears Brett Favre pajamas.
Mr.Burgess:
Why don’t you buy tickets to every “saints” home game? How is it you are a huge fan of the “saints” yet you never wear the apparel of the “saints? How are you a better fan than Vikings fans? You dont’ spend any money directly on the “saints” to support them.
By the way, how did that Vikes not covering on the bears bet work out for you?
Favre deserves the Nov offensive player of the year award and he’s holding up just fine. Rodgers is playing great for the Pack and things seem to have worked out just fine for all. Well, except the Vikings squashing the Pack both games this year.
Until the Vikes win a Super Bowl, they can’t be compared to the 96 or 97 Pack teams.
Given the Saints weren’t a playoff team last year , Brees has better stats, and are undefeated this year, and the Vikes were a playoff team, Favre’s stats aren’t as good, and the Vikes have lost one game — you gotta give Brees the MVP edge.
Just an attempt at a post outside of a purple lens.

Well you kind of made my point that Beer Cheese cant grasp that the packers cant really ake any extra revenue now can they? Gear? I have some. Admin polo’s. nice stuff. half dozen or so of those. What point are you trying to make?

Also, it seems that it’s becoming more and more about Favre’s Vikings than Peterson.
I’m starting to think the Vikings might do just as well with Favre and without Peterson.

jeff, that take has to get a look at asshat of the day on AD speeding thread.
They didnt post my first one and Im not going t repeat it. well i will some.
The revenue loss was due to their investment portfolio. Not merchandising.
Packers colors are ugly. Cannot find a hat worth wearing and jerseys in my opinion…well they just arent fo me.
I posted a link to a website that showed you the proposed uniform change Wolf proposed and got approval for. Its cool. I suspect that is why my post did not make it as it had another website on it and of course thats bad for this sites business. Though I do see links on here from time to time.
It was real gold (Notre Dame)pants and helmets instead of the current yellow. Solid hunter green with notre dame colored letters and numbers. Still might see that happen someday. Especially after a great year.
I accept bets from people who ae hopped up on jack. if they want to make them then who am I to say no?
LOL Super….like taking candy from a baby, just remember i let you go on a HUGE one….

For anyone who doubts Favre for MVP, firstly his stats are better than anyone. He’s only 3TD’s behind Drew, then factor in that Brett was still learning the offense in weeks 1 & 2, so he could’ve easily added 3 to his total from those 2 games against horrible teams.
——————————————-
Still learning the offense???? Hell, he said when he signed that he could teach it. Good Lord
Mr Burgess, Supers & The Hydra on the same page. Geez dude, you’re quick
@ purpleguy
Nice post about the purple lens
He was getting acclimated to his team rulz.

“FootballFanatik–You obviously care because you not only read the thread but also took the time to comment. Keep hating on us, it’s flattering. ”
Of course I read the article, and read the comments, til I couldn’t take it anymore.
I am a fan of Brett Favre, have been for 10+ years. I enjoy watching him get the job done, and his skills amaze me. I am not a Vikings hater, either. It’s the mindless comments of the select fans on here that makes us want to throw up when the Vikings are mentioned. Are you actually reading what you are writing, and what you are responding with to others?? Do you realize how stupid you sound?? You actually are topping Rex Ryan in annoyance points!! hahaha Congrats on that!
I am not a hater, I wish the Vikes well….just STFU and enjoy your team’s ride, but remember: the bigger the pedestal, the harder the thud!

Too much emphasis is placed on win/loss record. This is an individual award. That doesn’t mean you start by looking at the rosters of playoff-bound teams. Johnson should absolutely be in the discussion. Then again, so should defensive players.
———————————————
Yeah, because the awards always go to guys on losing teams. Notice how he is including defensive players in there? He’s dumb enough to think Woodson deserves it! Listen Shitterson, Woodson already has 1 piece of hardware he doesnt deserve….speaking of which you my inane freind are Asshat of the day, you are now entered in the asshat of the week, month and year!! here is your award:

Make sure you all let Adam know he is todays winner!!!
Tomorrow…..The asshat of the week award!
Bravo jeff! Defensive players?? Couldn’t have went to a more fitting turd! Congrats Adam! Be proud, candidates are scoured high and low! It is a true honor!
“GB’s RBs totaled 1,867 yrds from the line of scrimage, while Minnesota’s have already accumulated 1,841 yrds & 14 TDs.”
There is no point of comparing those two because everyone knows that the Packers in 1996 didn’t have a dominant running game. They still had a very good RB duo in Dorsey Levens and Edgar Bennett though.
“The Williams Wall takes it easily over G Brown & S Dotson”
Vikings win it easily? Dude the Gravedigger was just as good as Fatty Patty. It is close but the Vikings don’t win it easily.
“Desmond Howard’s returns averaged 15.1 per punt (3 TDs) & 20.9 kickoffs. Reynaud is averaging 11.6 per PR and Harvin is @ 29.8 (2 TDs) per KR.”
Dude Desmond Howard was much better than Harvin on special teams mainly because Howard dominated on both kick and punt returns while Harvin is doing well on just kick returns.
“Jacke hit 21-27 FGs & 50-51 PATS, while Longwell is 18-19 & 40-40 respectively. Hentrich punted for a 42.4 average, Kluwe is averaging 43.6.”
I think it was this season that I read Childress was thinking about cutting Chris Kluwe. And Craig Hentrich was a fantastic punter.
“The LBs are a push across the board and the DBs are 3-1 in favor of GB.”
This is clearly a no brainer. LeRoy Butler was by far better than any of the Vikings DBs right now.
Pervy, keep an eye on the links, the pics will change from day to day…
Tomorrow is asshat of the week…it’s gonna be fun
@ jeff- will do. Gives a whole new dimension to this site, scouring for asshats. As you can see,I enjoy it. I tend to attract them. Why? hahaha AHOTW deserves a great pic.
You can actually thank Supersuckers. it was his idea. I mean, I came up with calling people asshats, but he suggested I make it a daily thing, right around the same time each day. We spitballed it and I decided to take the time to do a week, month and year. I am keeping track..lol
I do appreciate you looking for them, makes it easier for me and yeah, it does add to the fun.
Looking for asshat worthy posts.
You can bet every post I make to shitterson is going to be calling him an asshat award winner!
Poor guy. But, he asks for it.Later
Green Bay is a wonderful town in a wonderful state and has a wonderful team with wonderful players, coaches, management, and fans….. For me to poop on!
Speaking of poop it’s exactly what green bay smells like. It’s that toilet paper factory right?

I put the RBs in because I was comparing the entire teams. Loved Levens, I remember wishing the Vikes would draft him. Went around 5th round if I remember.
Loved the Gravedigger too. Couldn’t figure out why the Vikings let him go. They needed someone with some size at the time. K Williams over Dotson is why I said easily. Dotson was no slouch, but K-Will is an absolute beast.
Howard’s kick return average was just that – average. 21 yards a return isn’t exactly lighting it up. Kluwe was about to be shown the door last season, not this year.
Yeah, I figured Winfield would get the only DB nod over Newsome.
While the 96 & 97 Packers teams had their share of stars, the truth is they were the epitome of the word team. Honestly, I don’t think they get enough credit for that.
