Raiders fans buy a billboard

Earlier this year, the Oakland Raiders purchased a series of billboards in the Bay Area, featuring a variety of non-memorable memorable plays from past seasons of football.

So it makes sense, we suppose, that Raiders fans have gone the billboard route, too.

The folks at have purchased a billboard, apparently with someone’s credit card, demanding that owner Al Davis hire a G.M.

We admire the effort, but they’re wasting their money.  Al Davis is gonna do what he damn well pleases, and even if he hires a G.M. it’ll be a G.M. who has no other options, and he’ll still have to do whatever Davis tells him to do.

What a waste of money… he doesn’t give a shit!

Maybe if Raider fans threaten to stop stabbing children, then Al Davis will know there is a problem with the franchise.

“Al Davis is gonna do what he damn well pleases”
No kidding! Judging by the recent photos of Crazy Uncle Al, it looks like he’s even told death to get bent.

Poor raiders fans. Al Davis=Chairman Mao

Raiders are done for at least the next decade Sorry Big Manny!

  6. raideralex99 says: Dec 2, 2009 11:19 PM

Well let’s see … the last billboard ad was “Davis please cut Garcia” … how did that work out?

  7. Gophersnot says: Dec 2, 2009 11:20 PM

If I remember correctly, Al only owns a small percentage of the Raiders. The other “silent owners” are the only ones who can give Al the boot. Maybe a billboard to them would be better. But, Al is making them money.

  8. pdxbolt4life says: Dec 2, 2009 11:23 PM

I may be wrong…but I read somewhere Al’s mother lived well into her late nineties. So take heart Oakland fans…only about 15more years of this old jackass to go!!!!

  9. madbillsfan says: Dec 2, 2009 11:30 PM

    Wow, it worked for us.

  10. Philthylush says: Dec 2, 2009 11:32 PM

Gophersnot are you retarded? Al has for a very, very long time and will hold on to it till the day he dies.
At which point his son Mark takes over. Thank god Mark will not make the football decisions.

We are the most passionate fans out there, even during the down times, thats why we have all you Haters talkin about us. Were the guy your wives and girlfriends cheated on you with and you cant handle it!

I drove by the billboard today. Classic Raider fans! Black lettering on a black backround.
    Of course the silver outline!

  15. savocabol1 says: Dec 3, 2009 12:00 AM

if you use that logic why write an article about what the raiders fans are doing? the raiders fans are going to do whatever they damn well please and dont care if they are wasting their money or not.

  16. CT Pats Fan says: Dec 3, 2009 12:07 AM

Maybe Raiders fans could protest by not going to games…oh, wait…

  17. SATAN says: Dec 3, 2009 12:17 AM

I was a long time Raider Fan since lying on the floor in my grandma’s living room watching the Immacualte Reception (Fuqua it’s time for you to tell the truth). I started rooting for the Cardinals since I lived in Phoenix and liked Jake Plummer and the Cards only had to play the Raiders once evey 4 years. Alas it has become increasingly clear to me that Al Davis has lost it and my passion for the Raiders has cooled tremendously. And it helps that the Cards are on an up cycle with the Whis (anyone who freezes hell over in his second year has Satans utmost respect)
Still Uncle Al (my last name is Davis) gave me three winning SB to root for so if he lives to a 100 and is still screwing things up its ok with me. He’s earned that right, I just don’t want to put my heart into the Raiders anymore.
    I hope Al understands.

Have you ever seen the T-Shirt with a large hand on it giving the middle fingure?, that is Al Davis and will always be Al Davis some bad years or not.

  19. GoBears84 says: Dec 3, 2009 1:06 AM

That is exactly why my lifelong tenure as a raiders fan ended week 4 of last season, after the kiffin firing, and good ol’ Al all over ESPN.

  20. WashingtonRedstorms says: Dec 3, 2009 1:18 AM

The poor citizens of Oakland who were robbed so Raider fans can pay for this billboard.
Do Raider fans know Al doesn’t give a shit what you think?
Stop buying his product if you want him to hear your message.

  21. Gophersnot says: Dec 3, 2009 1:56 AM

    Read this dipshit.

  22. BengalsDouche2 says: Dec 3, 2009 7:17 AM

Wow. Can these fans get anymore original? First the Bills fans copy off us Bengals fans. Now the Gayders fans do it too? Do something original ladies! Something different. Sheesh

  23. CurseofBoJackson says: Dec 3, 2009 7:20 AM

Why not, if someone wants to pay to attempt to affect change, then do it, we do it here in Cincy It appears that Raiders fans have also held up their end of the GM demand bargain by not giving him their money, also essential. The Bengals good season (so far, and despite Mikey Boy, not because of him) has derailed boycotts of tix here, and that’s understandable. Good luck, you guys have the only owner worse than my team’s, all my sympathy.

  24. shinsnake says: Dec 3, 2009 8:18 AM

Sorry Raiders fans, us Bengals fans have been doing this for damn near a decade trying to get Mike Brown to hire a GM. Some Bengals fans even took to flying planes over training camp showing the Bengals win-loss record since 1990. It did exactly nothing to fix the organization. And I’m guessing if it won’t work for a stubborn Mike Brown, it probably won’t work for an even more stubborn Al Davis.

  25. Tornadoes28 says: Dec 3, 2009 8:19 AM

I`ve been a diehard Raider fan for 25 years but I can`t take it anymore. I`m thinking of switching aliegances. There is no hope as long as Al is around. If he lives for another 10 or 15 years, then there is no hope until then.

  26. John Cittebart says: Dec 3, 2009 8:27 AM

Rather than the billboard route, the fans should just not enter the stadium and extend the tailgate parties for the duration of the ball game — it’d beat sitting inside and watching Davis’s Follies!

  27. Mac says: Dec 3, 2009 8:31 AM

Gophersnot, did you read your own link? Who’s the dipshit?
“Only general partners are allowed a vote, and when last made public, Al Davis owns all of those shares….
The upshot of this is that through conventional means, even if every partner not named Al Davis were to vote to remove him, he could just laugh and extend a one-finger salute. “

  28. Cerberus says: Dec 3, 2009 8:52 AM

Those aren’t fans that rented the billboard. How can some 22 year old punk ever really understand what Davis and the Raiders mean to the NFL? He can’t, and so instead he disgraces the Davis, the Raiders, AND the NFL!

  29. RSKindred says: Dec 3, 2009 9:45 AM

Ok Cerberus, so by that logic, there can never be any new Raiders fans because they can’t POSSIBLY know what that crazy old bastard means to the Raiders and to the NFL? How about you stfu and stop acting like you’re the authority on who “true” fans are.
He didn’t disgrace anybody. AL DAVIS has disgraced a once-proud franchise by the way he does business. His team is now a disgrace to the league.

  30. Thorpie says: Dec 3, 2009 9:50 AM

yeah i’m sure my girlfriend has a attraciton that she cant ignore to grown men that spend their sundays slobbering, frothing drunk while wearing face paint and back painted shoulder pads with spikes that belong in a KISS stage show. I’m sure the site of these mental midgets throwing trash on the field and setting fire to things gets her so worked up she can’t controll herself.

Very non sequiter, not grasping your take here. Yes the chant is a spin off of the Saints’ “Who Dat” but I’d bet my next paycheck you wouldn’t know that if the Saints hadn’t been much improved the past two years. And really, who gives a sh*t? Petty little tummy stick players like you?

  35. scrapdawg12 says: Dec 3, 2009 10:42 AM

Who dat, who dat, what dat, gonna beat the Raiders…Everrrrrrrrrrrybody. The day the Raiders get better is the day that Davis steps aside.

  36. RaiderChile says: Dec 3, 2009 11:48 AM

I hear NFL, ESPN, CBS and Fox football commentators say this: The NFL is better when the Raiders play well.
The NFL option to intervene is the way to go.
Al is done and the standards by which a ‘competitive’ team represents the NFL MUST be looked at by the Commissioner.
The NFL ‘brand’ has a sour spot in several markets and must be addressed.

Buddy, seriously, listen to yourself….. what are you, sixteen? It’s a football team, dude. That’s all it is. And a bad one, at that. Gotta be one of those idiots who gets all decked out in face paint and gear. Yeah, the chicks all go for the body armour.

  38. bigrig says: Dec 3, 2009 12:23 PM

Al’s mom lived to the age of 103. His son Mark does do peripheral work for the organization, but has no real authority in any area. When the time comes, he will most likely look for a buyer. But, who really knows after watching this team function over the years.

  39. Richm2256 says: Dec 3, 2009 12:29 PM

“instead he disgraces the Davis, the Raiders, AND the NFL! ”
No, Jemarcus Russell, Tom Cable, and Al Davis disgrace the Raiders. Far more than any fan ever could.

  40. 1nationraidernation says: Dec 3, 2009 4:22 PM

well if not for a rainy day you would never appreciate a sunny day, but if the raiders don’t make some serious changes, it’s time to build an ark.
A few more decades of this crap I will know what it is like to be a chargers or pat’s fan.

  41. Cerberus says: Dec 5, 2009 10:55 AM

    RSKindred :
Just because I’ve been following the Raiders longer than you’ve been alive, it actually does mean something. So, why don’t you stfu and quit disrespecting the S&B! You obviously are a product of the media’s bias, and probably eat up every word that Al Michaels has to say. Instead of being a tool, why don’t you try and think for yourself?

  42. Backinthesaddle says: Dec 25, 2009 4:55 PM

Ultimately it comes down to this: Al Davis will need to be convinced to give up his authority. If anyone tries to strip it from him, he will fight it…..and likely win because he has the legal high ground.
The league should very discreetly table the topic of “succession” to Al. It must be done in a non-threatening way so he doesn’t freak out and file a lawsuit. Ultimately, Al himself will have to make the decision. The league should be simply trying at this point….subtly….to get the idea of succession into his thinking.
I’m not certain of the details, but I believe the Bills owner Ralph Wilson has set a succession plan into motion and has been open and forthcoming about it. Ultimately, I think that’s about all you can ask for. After all, they ARE the owners and they have rights.
