Warner, Leinart split reps at Cardinals practice

Kurt Warner doesn’t want to make any definitive statements about his status for Sunday’s night’s game.  But he did practice Wednesday, which gives the team hope for his return.

Warner also practiced throughout last week before sitting on Sunday.  This week, the coaching staff wants to be more prepared, so Matt Leinart is splitting first-team reps. The “fogginesss” Warner was experiencing is reportedly gone.

Cardinals brass was encouraged by Leinart’s play against Tennessee, but surely they’d prefer he watch from the sidelines in this one.

Then again, the Cardinals have no hope for a bye and the odds are still very much them against falling behind the 49ers in the NFC West.  The Cardinals may have to face the Vikings again, and that’s the game they really need Warner to play.

Correction: Leinart is splitting first-team reps and Warner is splitting headaches.

Warner,as a Vikings fan I will tell you to not play.Just call Rodgers,Flacco,Cutler,Stafford etc. They will tell you it is a painful experience playing the Vikings D. Plus,Leinarts a lil USC turd, want to watch him get beat up!

    @ citizen
would have been better if you said “Warner has splitting headaches” HAHA

Leinart should start – give Warner a break. This should be a cake-walk game for the Cardinals anyway.

To those of my fellow Vikings fans who have been posting stuff like “Hey, Warner, don’t play or the Vikings will injure ya” I have this to say to you: STFU.
Kurt Warner is a great football player, a great competitor, and he’s going into the Hall of Fame. The Cardinals have one of the best offenses in football especially when they have Warner under center. As Vikings fans we should want the Cardinals and Vikings to be completely healthy so that each team has its best shot at winning the game. Of course, I’ll be cheering for the Vikings, but it would be the best game if both teams were completely healthy. The goal for the Vikings, as with any team, is to win the football game, not injure people.

PerryHarvin- yeah, Flacco really struggled playing that vaunted Minnesota defense. He certainly took his share of hits but i believe he lit them up for close to 400 yards and was a botched chip shot away from beating you guys. It was a really pathetic showing by Minnesota’s defense late in the game. With that said, I hope you guys smoke the Cardinals

“Then again, the Cardinals have no hope for a bye and the odds are still very much them against falling behind the 49ers in the NFC West. ” – I think you transposed two words … should be “Then again, the Cardinals have no hope for a bye and the odds are still very much *against them* falling behind the 49ers in the NFC West. ”
I don’t know how true it is, though. Assuming the 49ers beat Seattle (not unreasonable) and the Vikings beat Arizona (same), the following week SF plays the Cards for the division lead. Since SF has already beaten Arizona once, it could happen again. Detroit and St. Louis are up-coming opponents for both (should be 4 wins for Arizona and SF). That just leaves SF’s game against Philadelphia and Arizona’s game against Green Bay. If those are both losses, SF takes the division. Probably the worst division winner ever, but to say the odds are “very much against” it happening seems odd.

@ leatherneck- Listen fellow Viking,I don’t want anyone to get hurt. But come on man. Don’t you see how the Vikings have been pounding around QB’s? I’m originally from Iowa and remember when he played for UNI in Cedar Falls. Sure I know more of him than you. Like him. Warner is just recovering, don’t need to get bashed again. So I really don’t need your STFU remark if it was pointed sideways at me!
ugotflaccoed- Sure was a crappy late game D on our part.I’m still pissed over it! lol We dodged a bullet there.

As a fellow big time Viking fan all I can say is that I am hoping for Warner to play! Not that I have anything against him or the Cards (I live in AZ and support the Cards as my second team) but I want the Vikings to be playing the Cards at their best. I’m sick and tired of hearing that the Vikings are playing a cupcake schedule and all our wins are against weak teams. The Vikings didn’t make their schedule and they are doing what good teams do which is win the games they are supposed to win.
The Vikings should be 11-0 but I’m glad they have a loss. I don’t want the Vikings to pull a Patriots and go 16-0, make it to the SB and choke! We already know the Vikings tend to choke in the playoffs.
But if they can beat a healthy good Cards team that will give them a major boost going into the Bengals game. And if we beat the Bengals I don’t see them losing another game this year.
We can only hope that we win out and the Saints hit at least one road block and lose one game so that we get the tiebreaker and then everything goes through the Metrodome!!!! Go Vikes!!!!

If Warner is truly healthy then great, it will make for a better game. If not, give it a rest. Nothing is worth going through life with your eggs scrambled, unless you are Bob Nelson, then it would be an improvement.

  11. PervyHarvin says: Dec 2, 2009 5:56 PM

@chaz23 -Great football take. We all know that there is a great chance that we will have to dance with the Saints in the playoffs to go anywhere.Warner can sling with the best of them,be a good test to see where we are at. Our d needs to see quality qb’s because we all know Brees is playing lights out. And if we beat Matt, they will say we still didn’t beat anyone as you say.

Queens won’t get close to the SB. They’ll fold up like a big suitcase. The true Favre will soon emerge.

  13. Bob Nelson says: Dec 2, 2009 6:21 PM

Whoever starts will rip apart that weak viking secondary that is 19th against the pass.
Opposing QB have the 11th best passer rating against the vikings and 9th best completion %.
The vikings have given up the 7th most completions in the league.
The Cardinals are going to easily win by more than 10 points.

  14. chaz23 says: Dec 2, 2009 7:04 PM

Bob – So the Cards are gonna win by more than 10 points???? Did you just hit your head on a stearing wheel like Tiger did? Cause that’s just crazy talk!!! I would take that bet any day!!!

  15. CanadianVikingFan says: Dec 2, 2009 7:33 PM

Oh really Bob? So what does that mean about your beloved Packers? After all Brett Favre tortched them twice, and from what every packer seems to think, Brett Favre is just some washed up old man. So can we expect this in the Pack. Card. game? Have fun missing out on the wildcard fool.

I wonder of that damm sheephearder is on roids, like his Williams sisters! ( fools had to go cry to a judge judy so they could play ) ! If warner plays it would make for a good game, if not can u say (blow out pick 6 baby!)

  18. Notoroius B.U.G. says: Dec 3, 2009 12:39 PM

Bob, teams have to pass against the Vikes in the 2nd half because they’re playing from behind! Throw 400 yards against the Vikes; you’re still going to lose.

  19. jeff says: Dec 3, 2009 1:10 PM

    BUG:
Don’t try to talk sense to Bob the fool.
He’s been sniffing paint thinner for years now.
