PFT's picks are live

With another Thursday night game coming up (Jets at Bills, 8:20 p.m. ET, NFLN), it’s time to roll out our picks for this week.

They’re right here.

Rosenthal has the eight games with the AFC road teams, and I’ve got the eight games with the NFC road teams.

As to one of the key games involving an NFC West team, I’ve ventured a bit onto the proverbial limb.

Last week, I was 6-2.  Since I usually hear directly from Rosenthal when he does well and given that I haven’t heard from him, I’m deducing that he generated numbers somewhere below 6-2.

UPDATE:  Rosenthal says he was 5-3 “with a tough slate.”  Yeah, those Oakland-Dallas, Cleveland-Cincinnati, and Kansas City-San Diego games were real toss ups.

SECOND UPDATE:  We didn’t pick a tie in the Lions-Bengals game.  It was a typo for which, uncharacteristically, we weren’t responsible.

Except, of course, your Super Bowl pick..

Seriously? Bengals/Lions finish in a 20-20 tie? Do you even watch football anymore? Bengals get Benson and Rivers back. Are 1st in the NFL in giving up points and are going against the Lions. Plus how many ties happen a year? Did Comcast shut off your cable now that they own NBC or what?

  4. BengalsDouche2 says: Dec 3, 2009 4:08 PM

Wow. I’ve never complained about your picks b/c they’re simply your opinion. But you really have us having a tie with the Lions? Seriously? Wtf did you guys put in your cereal this morning? Wow, I really don’t know what else to say. We beat the Browns how we had to beat them. Slowly and painfully on the ground. Why go out there and air the ball out and beat the snot out of them (clearly we can beat the snot out of them) when we don’t have to? Wow, again. I can’t stop saying wow. Ignorance is bliss.

So the Lions and Bengals tie? 20-20? I’m a Lions fan….I’ll take it!

  6. Fear Da Tiger says: Dec 3, 2009 4:09 PM

You’re such a d*ck Florio. Really?? A tie between the Bengals and Lions??? I’m finally starting to believe these commenters that say you do things just to get a reaction. Get a life…

  7. theroc5156 says: Dec 3, 2009 4:10 PM

You picking the Bengals and Lions to end in a 20-20 tie????

  8. Slappy says: Dec 3, 2009 4:11 PM

Bengals and Liyawns in a tie… LOL Looks like someone’s been hitting the pipe today..

  9. jx4cmario1 says: Dec 3, 2009 4:11 PM

    You’re picking a Cincy-Det tie?

  10. bucco bruce says: Dec 3, 2009 4:14 PM

“The Dolphins aren’t worse of a team than the one that finished last season 11-5. Yet they are staring 5-7 in the face.”
Journalism is dead. How did the first sentence make it past any sort of editing? I guess it’s all downhill from here with Comcast taking over NBC.
Lions-Bengals 20-20 tie? Put the crackpipe down please and move on.
Saints putting up 42 on the Crackheads. I watched the MNF game too. Don’t get caught up in the emotion. Saints win but Washington just might cover the spread. Classic trap game after a very emotional win Monday night, short week and an outdoor game.

You picked the Bengals/Lions to tie? The Bengals didn’t win by 45 because they didn’t need to. They ran the ball, not because they can’t pass but because they didn’t have to you f’in dumbass. This isn’t college, you don’t have to win by 50pts to make a point…ask the Saints. If I recall they escaped from the Rams but still handled the Pats. Learn football before you try to write about it.

  12. bucco bruce says: Dec 3, 2009 4:18 PM

And BTW, who exactly are the Dolpins? Are they those stackable little Russian dolls which fit into each other?
    Pick: Patriots 31, Dolpins 28

That blows this preview http://tiny.cc/VchfC away. Oh well, at least he tried. I don’t get Lions-Bengals tie though, but if it were to happen to anyone, it would be OchoCinco & Co.

  14. ShruggingGalt says: Dec 3, 2009 4:24 PM

I didn’t see a tie on the page for that game….where is this coming from?
Did Comcast’s servers not refresh a database?
My only comment would be: Why should we look forward to Favre v Packers III? Will it involve a further stomping of the Pack? Like how the Chargers OWN the Colts, it seems that Favre OWNS the Packers. Heck, the way they have been playing I can’t believe they are in the playoff picture at all.

  15. Youngone says: Dec 3, 2009 4:28 PM

You are wack for thinking the Seahawks are going to pull this off. The 49ers have everything on the line this weekend. Willis is gonna scare the sh*t out of Hasselbeck

  16. chapnasty says: Dec 3, 2009 4:36 PM

You say the Cowboys record is inflated? I say it is deflated because they are 3 last minute plays from being 11-0. Then what would you be saying about them?

  17. birdmancometh says: Dec 3, 2009 4:36 PM

Raise you’re hand if you have a sense of humor……..
    hmmm, interesting.

  18. texasPHINSfan says: Dec 3, 2009 4:37 PM

I’m surprised Rosenthal thinks the Pats/Fins game will be that close.
After the beating the Patriots took on Monday night, part of me thinks they’ll punish the Dolphins bad for that defeat they took on Monday.

Nice. Now if the game does end in a tie, you’ll be saying you called it. Lawyer.

  20. mixman34 says: Dec 3, 2009 4:43 PM

Who cares the Redskins are going to the bowl baby!
    Idiot

  21. danlinker says: Dec 3, 2009 4:44 PM

Usual idiot florio with another shot at the cards.
First, I will be practical; Even with Warner in, they will have a tough time beating the Vikings. So I am NOT predicting a cards win, I am hoping for one.
However, what pisses me off, is how florio said the cards run to the SB won’t be as easy as last year. What was easy about last year for the cards? What, beating three good teams in a row in the playoffs? Games that florio (and a lot of other people) predicted the cards would lose? (all three)
When a team that has not been to the SB finally does make it, I am SURE it was in NO WAY easy. You are a complete idiot Florio, and you know it. I can see why you did not make it as an attorney at ANY level. What a joke.

  22. mixman34 says: Dec 3, 2009 4:45 PM

That shot at AP is so idiotic. Dude loses one fumble last week and Florio latches on. All the best backs in history fumble more than the average back cause they dont go down and are constantly tied up with 3+ defenders.
Oh by the way… the one game this year with 2 fumbles…. 133 yards and two TDs… so yeah…. OK

  23. mixman34 says: Dec 3, 2009 4:52 PM

RE Saints D? “a defense that is as disruptive and effective as any we’ve seen since the 1985 Bears.”
HAHAHAHHAHAHAH The best defense EVER!? HAHHAHAHHAHA Come one FLORIO!
THey’re good, but not even CLOSE to that good…

  24. BengalsDouche2 says: Dec 3, 2009 5:11 PM

28-20 is a little better on that game. But do you really think the Bengals defense is going to let Detroit score 20? That’s pushing it.

  25. leatherneck says: Dec 3, 2009 5:13 PM

Jets-Bills went the Bills’ way at the Meadowlands. If the Jets just stay with the run this time, they will win.
The Redskins have a shot at beating the Saints, but they will probably fail to defend the run.
Jacksonville and Atlanta could pull upsets this week. I think the Ravens will beat the Packers.

  26. bucco bruce says: Dec 3, 2009 5:24 PM

So the 20-20 tie Bengals/Lions game was a typo? What’s the excuse for the sentence structure of the first paragraph of the Miami/New England game?
What’s the excuse for the final score- Patriots 31-Dolpins 28?
Newspaper folks wonder why revenue is down. Editors and writers were raised on Ebonics and texting.

picks are live, comments are not

  28. goetta-head says: Dec 3, 2009 5:30 PM

You have the Bengals beating the Lions by only 8!
    Figured Id pile on…

  29. WarLoxx says: Dec 3, 2009 5:34 PM

Nice parting shot on the Cowboys. Bill Parcells used to always say that you are what your record says you are but I guess you guys know better than him.

  30. PervyHarvin says: Dec 3, 2009 5:51 PM

Hope Warner plays for the Cardinals. We could use a test by a good passing QB. The few Viking games after that game I dont see any problem winning.

  31. tom skiffington says: Dec 3, 2009 8:31 PM

    haha nice tanya harding reference.
