Revis picks off Buffalo's last chance in Jets win

Thursday night’s 19-13 Jets victory over the Bills in Toronto was a rare NFL game that went exactly according to script.

That script included a heavy dose of the Jets running game, which totaled 249 yards on 43 attempts.

It also included Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis proving he’s a worthy candidate for the title of “best cornerback in the NFL.”  Revis touched nearly as many passes as the man he was covering, Terrell Owens.

T.O. was limited to three catches for 31 yards, despite having nine passes sent his way.  The last target of Owens’ night was picked off by Revis to seal the game. (Owens gave a weak effort on the play.)  Revis broke up at least three more passes during the night.

Buffalo’s final drive lost ten yards, which was typical.  Ryan Fitzpatrick only completed nine of 23 passes for 98 yards.  The two teams combined for 153 net yards passing.  Canada might not let the Bills back in the country next year after this performance.

The game wasn’t pretty, but it was a reminder that the Jets are a good football team aside for their passing game.  If not for a Braylon Edwards drop and an ugly Mark Sanchez overthrow, this would have been a rout.

About the only thing that didn’t go according to script was Sanchez’s knee injury.

With or without their rookie quarterback, the Jets can stick around the AFC playoff race deep into December.  They are 6-6, with a game against the Bucs on deck.  New York finishes with the Colts and Bengals, so it’s still hard to see them making the playoffs.

The Bills are 4-8, including a 1-2 record under Perry Fewell.  Their rush defense and offensive line makes it very difficult to compete each week.  The team has played hard under the interim coach, but they played hard under Dick Jauron too.

They just aren’t very good.

He and Charles Woodson are probably two of the best corners in football. Hands down.

Aside from the ass-suck game between the 49ers and Chicago Bear-Cubs a few weeks ago, this was among arguably the MOST REPELLENT NFL games tonight in years.
The JETS suck … the Bills looked like a jailhouse intramural team.
Even worse, the NFL NETWORK blows to an epic level of wretchedness. The in-game announcer and “color guy” were IDIOTS. How many times did you hear “That guy is the best in the league at his position”?
Like the PFT post here to which I’m responding too, it’s clear that the “rah-rah” cheerleading doesn’t end with the paid NFL Network chumps. All this talk about Darrelle Revis being “the best in the game” at CB is pathetic … he should have had THREE INTs, not one … the Buffalo Quarterback IS THAT BAD. Revis came up with cement hands too many times.

Bills now 0-2 in December Toronto INDOOR home games after giving up December cold/wind outdoor home advantage in Buffalo.
Brilliant move by money grabber Wilson!

NFLisBeginning2ReallySUCK…I hear ya although I’d throw in the 7-6 snoozer between the Redskins and Cowboys a few weeks ago as being worse.

Revis has quietly become the best corner in football. His shutdown list is almost as impressive as tiger woods mistress list.

At least Bills fans can look forward to having a much better team next year. In addition to having good picks in the draft and a new coach, they will get back many of the players who have been on IR this year. Specifically, starting RT Brad Butler, starting RG Eric Wood, starting TE Derek Schouman, starting OLB Kawicka Mitchell, starting OLB Keith Ellison and starting CB/KR Leodis McKelvin, plus various backups. In addition to these losses, they also have not had MLB Paul Posluszny, LT Demetrius Bell, TE Derek Fine, CB Terrence McGee, CB Ashton Youboty, DT John McCargo and others for multiple games this year.

The Jets are so pathetic. A 6 pt victory over a one of the worst teams in the league and all the idiot Jet fans and NY papers are talking playoffs. I hope they do make the playoffs just so the Colts can beat them 100 to 0. Maybe Sanchez can put that on his wrist band…F-ing retard.

Sorry, Fitz. Your 15 minutes of love from TO is up and it’s time for you to get under the bus.

Jets had 550 rushing yards in the 2 games against Buffalo. Funny how Sanchez still almost lost the game both times.

While Revis is definitely a top-notch DB, if that pass isn’t thrown 5-yds short, TO has a big gain, maybe even a TD…if he decides to even catch it at all.
