Ryan optimistic about Sanchez’s knee injury

As Florio mentioned earlier this evening, Mark Sanchez left Thursday’s game after hurting his knee on an unsuccessful slide attempt.

The rookie never returned to action, but coach Rex Ryan didn’t sound overly concerned after the Jets win.

“We’ll see how it is. I’m optimistic,” Ryan said. “We feel pretty confident it’s just a sprain.”

Ryan said Sanchez will get an MRI on his right knee for “precautionary reasons.” The Jets have ten days until they face the Buccaneers in Week 14.
