During the construction of the new Cowboys Stadium, at least two workers accidentally died.
On Thursday morning, the facility claimed two more victims.
Two workers slipped and fell while working on the roof of the massive football and entertainment venue, the Associated Press reports.
The workers fell from an upper portion of the roof to a lower section.
Per the AP, Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple said that the workers were performing “ongoing maintenance,” which will continue into 2010.
Dalrymple
said that he did not know the extent of the injuries, and he also said that he was unsure whether cold
weather was a factor in the incident.
In May, the team’s indoor practice facility collapsed during a thunderstorm, injuring several people, two severely.
Federal occupational safety and health laws impose many specific requirements to protect workers from many hazardous situations, including slips and falls. The federal agency responsible for enforcing those laws — OSHA — undoubtedly will be investigating the incident in order to determine whether any of the relevant rules and regulations were violated.
UPDATE: The Dallas Morning News reports that the injuries appear to not be life-threatening.
See! That damn stripper club called a stadium is nothing but trouble!!
Come on Florio, invoking OSHA before know ANYTHING factual…
Two workers at the Linc got hurt. 1 got paper cuts and the other had a nasty hangnail.
Please, this is stupid. They dont know the extent of the injuries. Flo, you’re efforts are in vain. Dallas made patties The Eag’s At The Linc.
Hope they’re alright. That stadium has some seriously bad mojo.
OSHA requires fall protection, including the use of a harnass when working at unsafe heights. Undoubtly, these workers were not wearing such protection…. so they should excpect a pretty heafty fine from OSHA.
WTF is goin on down there?
If this happened here, the Ministry of Labor would be looking for heads on a platter, and they would get them too.
Gotta figure that Jerrah will face a shit storm now.
Karma for Jerry not letting fans have American flags in the stands.
We should all pray for the quick and complete recovery of both men.
NOT MAKE JOKES.
Yeah, OSHA has like 250 inspectors for the whole country. They’ll be on it in a few years. Who knows how many more will die by then.
one suffered a broken leg and was knocked out cold.
If we cut back on the safety costs a little we can have a giant TV.
Sadly the content of this article will reflect Florio’s career in about 1yr. Prayers go out to the families
How do you not tie yourself off that high in the air? They kind of deserved it
remmeber the cartoon flick monster house?
meet MONSTER STADIUM…
Sounds like Jerry was sitting in a tree playing the role of a sniper.
I hate it when you idiot hacks don’t wait to get ANY facts before talking about OSHA, fines, safety issues, etc.
Do some F’ing research before you go spouting BS.
It was a freakin 10 foot fall!!!
Everyone needs to get over themselves and stop looking for reasons to hate Jerry and the Cowboys.
And no, Florio, your Skins are NOT GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL and NO ONE HAS HIT THE JUMBO TRON.
We get it, you are acting like a jilted woman. Take two midol and get some rest.
It was the videoboard’s fault, right Florio?
Florio
Please hire an editor.
“at least two workers accidentally died.”
So 1. it wasn’t suicide or murder? and 2. there could be more bodies we don’t know about?
“the facility claimed two more victims.”
implicit in this comment, due to the preceding sentence, is the workers are dead.
If they were I would venture the extent of the injuries would be known. If you want to pass yourself off as a journalist/columnist learn how to write or hire and editor to ensure clarity/accuracy.
The stadium didn’t “claim two more victims.” The workers were hurt (as per your own article), which means that it doesn’t add to the two deaths during construction cited earlier.
Come on. I’m pretty much a Dallas hater, but let’s at least stick to facts.

There are engineered systems designed by a competent engineer to safely put in fall protection anchors and equipment. It is done all over the country and can most ceartnly be done there. it is the LAW

Get over it yourself
there are more people killed in falls each year then any other industrial accident. The OSHA rus says anything above 6 feet requires fall protection. Have you ever seen someone wh falls 6 feet it can mess them up for life or take the life from them.
I am not a Cowboy hater just idiots like you claiming to be an expert or for that fact even knowing anything.
Airline guy
Do you not understand the purpose of the site? Latest News and Rumors????? If he waited for all the facts there wouldnt be any rumors…idiot
Everyone else bitchin
You dont have to be dead to be victim.

************
Who the hell has time to pray for every single person in this world who gets injured or dies daily?
Do you really think it does any good? Do you write down all those names first and do it in one lump prayer, or is it individual prayers for each person?
When do you have time to post on a blog when you are on your knees praying? I suppose it’s fine to take a break from that to impose your self-righteous, pious comment.
Of course, when all is said and done, all that extra praying that you do for people you don’t know isn’t going to get you a suite in heaven, if there is such a place.
I thought he was saying they died too.
The NFL AND the OSHA should impose some serious sanctions against this stadiums ownership. This stuff happens when those responsible fail to enforce safety rules for the sake of speed or convenience. As a result, at least two more families will endure a miserable holiday season (what do you think the chances are, assuming they survive, that they will be paid while recuperating).
Please don’t tell me that since we don’t have all the facts yet, we should withold judgement. I know enough about construction to know that ANYONE working at those heights are required to use a safety harness and that this would without a doubt have prevented the accident.
However, too often, workers fail to follow the rules (it usually takes a couple of firings at a site to make everyone understand this is serious), or employers push the safety envelope by pressuring workers, in order to shave time from completing a task.
I pray that they are OK.
Mike, I’m with Dude17 on this one. When you say the stadium has claimed two more victims, it implies the men have died. Then we learn their injuries aren’t life-threatening–thank God. Confusing read.
@DABOYS …
Glad to see you’ve figured out how to turn off that caps-lock key
There have been at least 2-4 that have died at Lambeau Field since the skyboxes were added in the early 90′s and the stadium reconstruction from the early 00′s from falls.
Hopefully it turns out everyone is ok from this Dallas thing, but deaths during NFL stadium construction isn’t a new thing.

You can pray from any position really…and while sometimes it might not do any good…dont think it does any bad. I also dont think he was being anymore self-righteous than you…but I’ll be sure to pray you dont get hit by a truck….and I’ll take a penthouse.
@zygi milf
that is favorite post in a long time. kind of makes you wonder why players dont point to the sky when they fumble, throw an int, miss a fg, etc.
did these guys fall while trying to raise the t.v. screen? i hear that thing is going to get hit with punts all season long

The below is from the AP…good enough for you?
2 hurt in fall from roof area at Cowboys Stadium
ARLINGTON, Texas — Two maintenance workers who were not wearing safety harnesses fell from the roof area of towering Cowboys Stadium on Thursday morning, and at least one suffered serious injuries, authorities said.
The two were working on the top hatch of the retractable-roof venue around 7:20 a.m. when they slipped, Assistant Fire Chief Don Crowson said. They were not using “fall protection,” he said.
hey downeaster…they have the ability to tie themselves off, but they didn’t. Did you ever see how they built the roof? They all had safety equipment and they used it. Jerry should’ve stood over them and called them idiots
And downeaster…learn how to read. I said “how do you NOT tie yourself off that high in the air”. If you don’t tie yourself off and you fall, it’s your fault.
Quagmire:
I don’t see an references to death, OSHA, or Jerry being at fault in those two sources you put out.
I currently own a safety company located in Cincinnati, Oh. The OSHA fall protection standard found in 29 CFR 1926 (which governs construction) mandates that any worker who is exposed to a fall above 6 feet must be protected from falling by a fall protection system. These systems can include a Personal Fall Arrest System (consists of a lanyard, full body harness, and anchorage point consisting which has a minimum weight rating of 5000 pounds), a guardrail system, or a safety net located below the workers. There are some other possibilities that involve fall posistioning and warning line systems, but the easiest route is tie off if your above 6 feet, with a harness and retractable lanyard. Falls are the leading cause of death in the construction industry, and falls less than 10 feet have caused numerous fatalities. These workers were either not trained, or being negligent. Technically OSHA would not have to visit this site for this because it did not result in a fatality….However it sounds like this could be a willful violation if the company had been cited previously, which can carry a maximum imposed fine of $70,000 per occurence.
If they suffered concussions, the league might step in and start looking out for stadium workers safety.
and if they landed anywhere near tom brady, like in the same state, then they would have a 15 yard penalty imposed.

Not disagreeing with you I was just pointing out what is required and what it takes to get an engineered system. He can call them idiots all he wants but uutmatly he is responsible for anty employee or contractor who is injured on his property while working for him.

Yes it is your fault but it is the owner who will reguardless of fault pay the fines and medical bills.
Obviously God is trying to tell the Cowboys their not his favorite team. They better stop claiming that they know what God wants b/c it seems like his warning them that next time that guady tv messing up his view might fall out of the sky and take out their whole team(except Marion Barber everyone likes him).
Airline guy is correct – there are plenty of reasons that DON’T involve people gettin hurt why we should hate Jerry Jones.

Actually God was telling them that those few individuals weren’t doing a good enough job touching up his teams stadium
downeaster says: Yes it is your fault but it is the owner who will reguardless of fault pay the fines and medical bills.
Actually that’s not true. Birdair Inc. is the company he works for and they almost surely will be fined. Jerry Jones on the other hand, it’s doubtful. They didn’t tie themselves off. It’s not like they did and the roof broke and that’s why they fell. The company they work for “Birdair Inc.” will be paying a lot of money for their injuries and the fine.
The companies that hire the workers are the ones responsible for making sure the workers follow proper safety procedure, not the Dallas Cowboys.
I was a safety supervisor for quite a few years in the construction industry, and I was responsible for the guys on my crew who worked for the company I worked for.
Tying off is absolutely required when working in any area where falling is a danger. Obviously these guys did not tie themselves off ( or we would not be reading about them falling). So when Osha comes down on this, whichever company employed the men and sent them out on the job without making sure safety procedures were not followed will have hell to pay. But unless the Cowboys personally had these men under their sole employ, There’s nothing to fine them for. Sorry haters.
They better stop claiming that they know what God wants b/c it seems like his warning them that next time that guady tv messing up his view might fall out of the sky and take out their whole team(except Marion Barber everyone likes him). Please see my cincinnati roofing site review.
