Club where Larry Johnson (allegedly) spat on woman gets sued

Here’s an interesting post-script to one of the various off-field incidents involving former Chiefs running back Larry Johnson.

Last year, he allegedly spat on and threatened to kill a woman at a Kansas City club.

Johnson faced criminal charges for the incident, and he has been sued by the woman in civil court.

Now, the woman is suing the bar where the incident happened.

Per TMZ.com, Ashley Stewart claims that Blonde Nightclub knew or should have known that Johnson intended to raise a ruckus on the evening in question.  She alleges that a caller warned the club that Johnson was on his way, that he’d been drinking, and that he’d been causing trouble.

Though Johnson is primarily responsible for his own actions, the law imposes liability at times on those who had knowledge of a potential problem and failed to take reasonable measures to prevent harm.

The concept of harm is also an issue here, since Stewart was by all appearances not physically injured.

The whole thing would be a lot more interesting to me (but not necessarily to you) if I hadn’t quit practicing law to do this full time.

Holy crap.  I just realized I quit practicing law to do this full time.

Keep beating down the Bengals and their players…………..
Hell, when Pittsburgh shits the bed, these clowns don’t know what to write about.
How is a story of some lady “gold digging” for some more money in court relevant to the NFL? How is that court case going to effect anyone in the NFL? Including LJ?

File a Rule 11 motion on her and her attorney.

I don’t know much about it or his abuse in this situation, but as long as Cedric and Larry abuse Detroits defense Sunday, it’s all good.
How in the hell would the owners of this place know that he would be coming there too raise ruckus? Because this gold digger was where he was before that, and he blew her off. He probably just wanted to get away from the biotch and it pisssed her off.
Whatever, run for another 100 or so Sunday, Larry.

Ced and LJ = 220 on the ground Sunday. Ced 150, LJ 70. No boats or nightclubs the night before. The Ohio river has both right on it.

    Rule 11 sanctions would work.
However, depending upon the statutory definitions of Missouri of assault (as opposed to a battery) and/or IIED and the necessary burdens of proof to be carried in either, don’t you think is indeed possible for this woman to have sustained some damage (whether measurable in any real terms) regardless of LJ’s saliva hitting her or not. The question should really be whether she can prove any sort of apprehension of an immediate threat (assault) or emotional distress (IIED) for the purposes of showing actual harm to her by LJ.
I know you have been out of the law game, Florio, but that’s 1L Torts class. In the words of Money May, “Step your game up!”
