Hell being unleashed by Steelers — on their fans

Last Sunday night, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin vowed that his team “will not go gently” and will “unleash hell” in December.

And hell is indeed being unleashed.  On the folks attend the game at Heinz Field.

The Raiders have retaken the lead late in the game, with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Pittsburgh native Bruce Gradkowski to rookie receiver Louis Murphy.

Oakland leads by three with four minutes to play, but the Steelers are driving.

UPDATE:  And, of course, the Steelers now lead, thanks to a touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to the player who called him out last week.  Still, a 24-20 win over the Raiders hardly constitutes unleashing hell.

SECOND UPDATE.

Yeah, and the NFL has unleashed hell on the rest of Steeler Nation and fans of every other team by turning off the sound on RedZone!

And of course you favorite teams gets a no call on a dirty play on the goal line by “The Dirtiest Player in the NFL”

Didn’t Tomlin mean that he and the coaching staff were going to unleash Hell on the Steelers players? That’s how I read it, at least.

That call on hitting a defenseless receiver was garbage.

Yeah Squeelers fans how do you like that? The Squeelers getting bent over like me and my sister used to do. Roethlishomo couldn’t do it because he is such an overrated POS. Ha the Raiders!

  9. Citizen Strange says: Dec 6, 2009 4:09 PM

Dixon would have scored more than 10 points through three quarters. That’s a fact.
All of Roethlisberger’s “miraculous” fourth quarter comebacks are because the Steeler defense is usually so incredibly good.
Roethlisberger can’t score 30 points to save his life.

Instead of unleashing hell, Mike needs to learn how to prepare well … and win against…
    Baltimore???
    Oakland???
    I’m embarrassed for the Steelers.

  13. snnyjcbs says: Dec 6, 2009 4:17 PM

Here is a little advice for the Steelers. You do not bring up Hell when your next game you play is against the Raiders. The Raiders are from Hell and Oakland is the home of the Hells Angels.
Good to see the Steelers go down with all the cheap shots they took that the ref’s let go without a call. The Steelers and all there fans can come over the house to watch the playoffs with me if they want, the Steelers are soft and the Raiders put them right where they belong which is on their ass.

  15. edwicy says: Dec 6, 2009 4:22 PM

A little premature with the Pittsburgh 24-20 win prediction. RAIDERS WIN, and Steelers still in hell.

Assuming that you meant that the Steelers got bent over and screwed today (which is what your message conveys, and which, in reference to the garbage exhibited by the Steelers today, I would completely agree with), I’m not so sure I’d go around advertising that fact about your childhood, pal. Is this a typical youth experience down in goold ol’ Baltimore?

  25. stetai says: Dec 6, 2009 4:54 PM

Tomlin has shown way too much confidence as a coach this past year, and takes way too much credit for their Super Bowl win in a weak year against a weak 9-7 NFC opponent.
Instead of being thankful for where they are, he has this cockiness that HE built this team or something, when he was handed a SB team.
Things like losing to the RAvens in OT and afterwards saying a “moral victory” wasn’t enough? WTF? Why are you trying to steal heat from the RAvens for beating your asses, as if u are some form of God, who stumbled. Guess what, you’re team is 6-6 and will likely miss the playoffs because once against you can’t build off of a SB win and you merely point out what a fluke it was in the first place.
The moral of the story is the Steelers suck and so does Mike Tomlin, big time.

  26. sullijo says: Dec 6, 2009 4:55 PM

Lose to the Chiefs and Raiders in 3 weeks….Nice job “World Champs.”

  28. lskynard87 says: Dec 6, 2009 5:15 PM

So, the Raiders apparently have an offense without Jamarcus Russell and not requiring D. McFadden.
    Interesting.
The Raiders don’t need first round picks.

  29. lskynard87 says: Dec 6, 2009 5:16 PM

Forgot to add D. Heyward-Bey to that.

  30. Mark B says: Dec 6, 2009 5:20 PM

I have to agree with more than a few opinions here.
1.) Big Ben– why all the hype about him. He really isn’t all that. Yes we’ve got a share of 4th quarter last-minute wins, AND in big games. But…. as a previous poster said, that great defense makes ALL of them possible and Ben receives WAY to much credit for them.
2.) Stupid reporters blogging opinions prematurely. It’s immensely obvious the reporter thought the Steelers had the game in the so called bag, as he said “still, a 24-20 win over the Raiders hardly constitutes unleashing hell.” It’s also immensely obvious the reporter is an idiot, and his job is WAY over his head.
Any of you guys remember when the MSNBC Online Sports Page was the best online sports you could find. Good stories, interesting reads, TONS of great reporting.
Now they are reduced to stupid reporters and every other story you click is a stupid blog.
    What the heck happened?

Just how bad are the Stealers when they get beat by the Raiders, in PITTSburgh?
    Let the finger pointing continue!
    Party in the Raider Nation!

  32. Klytus says: Dec 6, 2009 5:26 PM

As a Steelers Fan, I don’t like it but perhaps I should have expected it. Deja Vu, all over again. The only year the Steelers repeated was in 1975. Lately when the Steelers win a Superbowl, the team falls apart the next year. It doesn’t matter who the coach is whether it is Noll, Cowher and now Tomlin. I guess the Steelers need a year of humble pie to get their heads right for the next year.
    GO STEELERS!

  33. Igottz5onit says: Dec 6, 2009 5:32 PM

    The Steelers also repeated 79-80

  34. rockotica says: Dec 6, 2009 5:45 PM

bad title for a post….yeah the Steelers put their fans through hell; those 2 Super Bowl championships in the past few years really inflicted some pain. How dare they bring home 2 MORE rings! The audacity of them….winning Lombardi’s like that. What jerks. When will the Steelers have an owner who tries to win!!?

  35. Rickah99 says: Dec 6, 2009 5:55 PM

  38. comment_submission_error says: Dec 6, 2009 6:33 PM

It was nice hearing the faithful boo their defense off the field today. And quit whining about that “defenseless receiver” call, you sniveling crybabies.

  39. Bmore Styles says: Dec 6, 2009 7:48 PM

    @ Rickah99
Are those 6 Super Bowls gonna get you into the playoffs???
Oh, for a second you had convinced me that the past was somehow relevant, and that it negated how sorry the Steelers have been this year while dropping 4 straight and losing to some pitiful franchises.
Keep holding yesterday tight as you cry yourself to sleep every night till next season.

  40. oh the usual says: Dec 6, 2009 8:09 PM

so the helmet to helmet call was a bad one when your player was off of his feet diving towards the receiver when said player’s helmet hit the receivers helmet at full force? couple that with the fact that it was the second player that he (mundy?) had helmet to helmeted in the past minute-one of which being his teammate-and i don’t necessarily see that as a bad call. the guy was wreckless, and deserves to get such a penalty, and maybe more.

  43. boysroll says: Dec 6, 2009 9:25 PM

squealers r done…..to lose to the raiders at home when you need the game is unacceptable…u do not deserve the playoffs and ben and that defense is way overrated.

  44. Deb says: Dec 6, 2009 10:33 PM

    @Klytus ….
What the heck are you talking about???? You need to study Steeler history!
Chuck Noll’s Steelers won SB IX in 74, repeated by winning SB X in 75. The 76 Steelers, often cited by that era’s players as the best of those teams, won the division and made it to the AFC Conference Championship. Unfortunately, several players missed that game, I think because of the flu and they lost. The 77 Steelers won the Division and lost in the divisional round. The 78 Steelers won SB XIII and repeated by winning SB XIV in 79.
Only after SB XIV did they fail to make the playoffs because all good things must come to an end.
So please PLEASE don’t compare Cowher and Tomlin to Chuck Noll. I love Cowher and Tomlin, but there is NO comparison. I’m a Bama fan and I love Nick Saban, too. But he’s no Bear Bryant.

i love how the steelers fans are crying about the defenseless player call, yet there is no mention of the dirtiest player in the league and the facemask and offensive pass interference call that was not made on him when he scored.
how the ref misses that is beyond me! there is an official right there.
