Two weeks ago, Lions quarterback Matt Stafford returned from a left shoulder injury for one play -- a game-winning touchdown pass thrown with his right arm.
Today, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub dislocated his left shoulder. He also returned, but he didn’t do enough to pull out a victory.
The team confirmed the nature of the injury after the game.
“He had a dislocation, and they were able to get it back and in and he wanted to come back out to play,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “So it was a gutsy performance on his behalf, [but] we came up a little bit short.”
It’s unknown whether Schaub will miss any time for the 5-7 Texans, who have now lost four straight after starting the year with five wins in eight games.
Schaub missed five starts due to injury in each of the past two years. He has started all 12 games in 2009.
With the Jags at 7-5 and by virtue of a two-game sweep of the Texans, it’ll be difficult to overcome Jacksonville for a wild-card berth. And with the Broncos at 8-4, they’ll be tough to catch, too.
The Texans finish the season against the Seahawks, Rams, Dolphins, and Patriots.
