Broncos-Chiefs one-liners

The Broncos broke with history in a 44-13 victory at Arrowhead Stadium, a place where they’d lost 16 of 17 previous matchups in December.

The Broncos ran for 245 yards on Sunday, led by RB Correll Buckhalter’s team-high 113 yards.

Broncos QB Kyle Orton turned the ball over three times, but also threw a pair of touchdown passes.

Rookie Broncos TE Richard Quinn knocked down a pass on a Chiefs fake punt.

Broncos LB Elvis Dumervil notched his 15th sack of the season and is now one sack away from tying Simon Fletcher’s franchise record.

Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star found it hard to see much progress from the Chiefs on Sunday.

Said Chiefs QB Matt Cassel, “We
didn’t get in much of a rhythm all day; we didn’t take advantage of a few big-play opportunities. I can’t throw [my
receivers] the ball, obviously, and there were a number of issues, especially on the offensive side of the ball
today.”

One thing that did go right for the Chiefs was the play of LB Tamba Hali, who had three sacks and two forced fumbles.

Former coach Marty Schottenheimer joined members of Derrick Thomas’s family on the field at halftime as the Chiefs retired the linebacker’s number 58.

The botched fake punt was followed by an interception and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in a third quarter horror show for the Chiefs.

6 minutes left & Peyton Hillis carries 7 straight times for 47 yards just running over people & refusing to go down…it was good to see
hope McDaniels is going to unleash Hillis for the streach run…

Hillis could be a monster if Buck and Moreno are running well.
Love the guys we got via draft in the Cutler deal…and that he’s tanking their pick for us. But how would things be going with Matt Cassel?
I gotta think Denver’s going to be a very attractive place for QBs in the near future, then the neckbeard can resume his natural role with the clipboard.
Some very good games coming up…this week in Indy and week 16 @ Philly. Raiders and Chiefs, each @ home are must-wins.
We’ll get to see how good the bones of it are.

I love my Chiefs… But they are making it hard to stay positive. Why does Haley try all these dumb plays on 4th down? He goes for it WAY more than anybody else in the league, and this weeks “Fake-punt-turned-lonely-pole-cat” stupidity cost the team the game. It was a 6 point game until that idiotic play took away ANY faith the team had they they could pull off a big upset… Todd Haley thinks he’s some kind of wild west gunslinger, but he’s shooting blanks… He might have a good plan to build a winning team, but he’s trying to play like all the pieces are already in place, which clearly, they are not! Hey Todd, why don’t you try playing football instead of trying to be something you are not? Failure breeds failure, and time and time again you have set your team up to fail… I wonder if the players are starting to lose faith in him? I know I have…

    Dumb plays – absolutely
Goes for it too much – agree somewhat, why didn’t we go for it right before the half though?
Cost the game though? – While it does show that Haley has no faith in our team what so ever, we were down 8 then. The stupid call only led to a field goal, which puts us down 12, and we lost by 31 points. I’d have to say it was the Broncos 245 yards of rushing and our stone-hands receivers that cost us the game.

That call led to a lot more than 3 points… It took away all momentum that the chiefs may have had… You could actually see 53 heads bent forward and look at the ground as that ball fluttered to the turf…
