The Saints defense have a ton of ballhawks, but if they don’t get a turnover, you can bet they’re giving up points. Colts have a very good “bend but don’t break” defense. They’re quietly one of the best units in football. Now, I don’t think Sorgi would have Indy undefeated, but I do think a decent QB on that Colts team leaves them 9-3 or 8-4.
Without Brees the Saints would simply be nowhere near where they are now. He’s chucking balls all over the place and leading ridiculous comebacks (Washington, Miami). He spreads the ball out to everyone on his offense and doesn’t even have one go-to guy like Manning does with Wayne.
It’s Brees in a landslide in my opinion. I think you go Johnson (he IS the Titans offense), Warner, Favre and Woodson after that. Warner gets no spotlight because he’s in Arizona and he’s Kurt Warner. But the dude blew away Favre last week and has had a very productive season despite missing a game. Favre, I hate to say it, has played very well but that offense has a ton of weapons. Waiting for the December slide.
Woodson is the heart and soul of the #1 defense in the NFL. When Harris went down I was sure the Pack was screwed. But Chuck has gone balls out the last few weeks making incredible plays and inspiring the D. And sure enough, guys like Matthews are stepping up and following his lead.

The Vikings would have a losing record wiothout Favre? WTF!! This is the same team basically that won 10 games with freakin’ Gus Ferrotte last year. They would be a 10 win team this year regardless of who played QB. That being said he is still three on my list.
1. Manning
2. Brees
3. Favre
4. Warner
5. Rodgers
I love Chris Johnson, but barring them making the playoffs, I don’t think even 2000 yds would get him over the list above.
Woodson = AWESOME, but not MVP.

My vote is for Favre. Sure he threw two picks Sunday, bfd…it happens. Specially when you’re playing from behind with no run game. Still 26 td’s to 5 Ints (2 of which weren’t his fault) is nuts! To be 40 years old (I bet most of you have no clue what that feels like) and doing it is even crazier. New team, new receivers, and yet he was the top rated QB in the league going into Sunday’s game. Best td to int ratio in the history of football on top of it. If you can’t give it up for him…ahem…pack83….you’re just blinded by bitterness.
However, I think Brees will ultimately get it with his crazy numbers.

Most of this post is irrelevant to an individual season-end award. 14-14 record? This season? Wow, how has Rodgers played 16 more games than everyone else?
40 years old, new team, new receivers, etc.. None of that matters, and it’s all his doing anyway. If he didn’t want to be throwing to new receivers he could’ve stayed in Green Bay. Or New York.

Only Viking fans determine how good a QB is by their record. In case you haven’t noticed Rodgers has just has good as stats Favre so if Favre can be up there, Rodgers sure as hell can be also. By the way, if you want to keep comparing wins, Rodgers has 8 this season including 4 in a row.

I think Woodson is most deserving. Huge turnovers and big plays every week for the league’s #1 defense.
Brees not so much so. The Saints have a good team and if Mark Brunell had to play they would be fine.
Favre has good stats and the vikings would have a losing record without him.
Aaron Rodgers is honorable mention as a Pro Bowler. He is better than Warner and Eli.

The same reason Randy Moss became good again. He left that festering rotten hell hole that is the Raiders organization. A place where players go to die…or at least have their career die. The league owners should be able to vote to remove the senile Al Davis as their GM and make the Raiders respectable again. Even if that happened tomorrow, it would still take 10 years with all of those wasted busts they’ve drafted.

Regarding Aaron Rodgers, he certainly deserves to be in the discussion for MVP. The comment about the sacks being an argument FOR him being MVP NOT against is correct. He was absolutely swallowed up earlier in the season. He certainly could have thrown the ball away in many cases, but mostly he was just getting hammered because the O-line couldn’t stop anyone.
But the whole offense is playing much, much better now. That starts with play calling, which was atrocious earlier in the year. Now that the Packers are playing the kind of game they should be, Aaron Rodgers is playing as well as anyone in the league.
Last year, Peyton Manning got the MVP solely due to improvement after a horrible start (Rivers was hands down the MVP last year). So, why shouldn’t Rodgers be considered after a weekly reshuffling of the O-line earlier this year followed by drastically improved play? His numbers are as good as or better than Manning’s, depending on how you define success.

Let me get this straight. Favre has his first multi-interception game and now he’s downgraded. Manning had THREE STRAIGHT multi-interception game and has 5 more total than Favre and he’s not?
Oh, and don’t look now, but Peyton Manning has the second rated scoring defense backing him up (and that has certainly saved his bacon this year). Brees has a middling 16th rated scoring defense. To me that trumps the better running game that Brees has behind him (also due to the fact that the Colts seem perfectly content to ignore their running game).
To me, despite hoping Favre wins it, it’s Brees hands down, at least right now. But, since the perception is that Manning doesn’t have any support, he’ll probably win it.
Oh, and as for how many games the Colts would win without him? Sure, they’d win far fewer with Sorgi as the QB. But, every team would win far fewer with Sorgi as backup. And I’m a Wisconsin fan.

While I agree that Rodgers shouldn’t be ahead of Brees, Manning, or Favre in the MVP race, the fact that he has done what he has DESPITE getting sacked 45 times should only strengthen any arguement he has.

Warner isn’t in the conversation. If they gave Leinart the same game plan, he too would have impressive games and some horrible ones just as Warner does.
Certainly not the standards of an MVP and there is no doubt in my mind that Leinart doesn’t take that team the playoffs the past two years, if they give him the same game plan and when the overrated one does finally retire, that will be proven if Matt and the rest of the cogs are still in Arizona.

They should have a new awared for Favvre… like the Seniors MVP or something. I don’t think he’s that impressive when you take out the age factor. I don’t get to watch him much but I did see the AARP Bowl Sunday night and was not at all impressed.

I dont agrre….Take Bress off that team, and its still good…Maybe not undefeated, but close. Take Manning off the Colts, they are a 500 team at best. Im suprised people havent put Brady in the mix. I mean hes taken a team that Cassell took to 11-5 and kept the same pace. Yeah, Brady is awesome.

Don’t like Chris Johnson, but if he breaks Dickerson’s record, he is the MVP. How long has that record stood? Enough said.
Otherwise, Brees and Manning are too close to call. If one goes undefeated, that’s your tiebreaker.
As for Woodson, he should be in the discussion for defensive MVP–not league MVP. Suh has nothing to do with this.

Steven Jackson’s name has to be considered for MVP. Yes, I said Steven Jackson. Put aside the fact that he plays for one of the worse teams in the league. The numbers he is putting up in spite of his surroundings and the fact that he has put his team in position to win more games than they have should at least be enough to get his name in the mix. People typically state the obvious, but Jackson is truly an MVP-worthy candidate.
