Fox declines to name a Week 14 starter

Panthers coach John Fox, who arguably is coaching for his job (or, arguably, no longer is), needs a big performance at New England from his team on Sunday to get back within a game of .500.

On Monday, Fox wouldn’t say whether the quarterback leading the effort will be Jake Delhomme or Matt Moore.

Delhomme missed Sunday’s 16-6 win over the Bucs with a broken finger, and Moore completed 14 of 20 throws for 161 yards and only one interception. (We say “only” because, well, in comparison to Delhomme, “only” is appropriate in that context.)

“It’s just like any other position,” Fox said Monday, per the Charlotte Observer. “We’ll evaluate it. That’s why we practice. We’ll keep you posted.”

Though the difference between Delhomme and Moore shouldn’t matter when the Panthers face the Patriots in Foxborough, the Pats by all appearances aren’t what they used to be.

Which probably means that New England will wake up and win by 50.
