Rumors fly that Tebow-to-Jags is a done deal

We’ve been critical of the Jaguars for letting the rain forest cat out of the bag regarding their desire to salvage a financially shipwrecked franchise by landing Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.

By making their interest in Tebow obvious, the Jags are risking that someone will trade up to one spot in front of Jacksonville in order to secure his rights.

As it turns out, it’s possible that the Jags don’t have to worry about another team cutting line.

There’s a rumor making the rounds that a wink-nod-sneeze-fart arrangement has been made to ensure that Tebow will be on the board when the Jags pick in round one — and that no one will trade up to get in position to draft him.

The goal would be to help the Jaguars regain financial viability in Jacksonville via a run on the box office following Tebow’s arrival.  And that would go a long way toward killing the concept of the Jags becoming the L.A. Leopards or the London Shaguars.

Any such agreement, of course, would constitute collusion, a blatant violation of the labor deal between the NFL and the union.  And it likely would be impossible to prove the existence of a “Magic Johnson in the ’92 All-Star Game” understanding (yeah, I used to follow other sports) that the other 31 teams will step aside and give the Jags a free run at Tebow.

Still, that’s the rumor.

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Tebow pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.

What type of useless piece of crap article is this? Is there any credible information here?

  3. chapnasty says: Dec 8, 2009 9:35 PM

How about they dont have to worry because NO ONE IS GOING TO DRAFT TEBOW IN THE FIRST ROUND!

  4. JLarKnowledge says: Dec 8, 2009 9:38 PM

    I wouldn’t worry about that.

uh huh huh huh He said “fart”

  6. Facts Domino says: Dec 8, 2009 9:40 PM

If they want to waste a # 1 draft pick on him then by all means let him.
In all honesty there are 4-5 other QB’s in the SEC I would draft over him.

  7. Reptar says: Dec 8, 2009 9:40 PM

Haha if only. I would be thrilled if the Jags used a first-rounder on Tebow. We’ll see how attendance holds up after that move sends them to the basement of the AFC South.

  8. Larry David says: Dec 8, 2009 9:42 PM

You can also add the fastball down the middle to Cal Ripken in his last all star game which he promptly hit out.

  9. Jorge Regula says: Dec 8, 2009 9:42 PM

Tebow in the first round? That’s a little high for a guy with no size, speed or arm strength who cries like a girl after every loss, isn’t it?

  10. slipkid says: Dec 8, 2009 9:43 PM

    cleveland will draft him.

  11. CapsLockKey says: Dec 8, 2009 9:43 PM

I have a hard time believing that they have a wink-nod deal with every single team in the league. I can see someone like Al Davis drafting him just for spite. God knows he’s one that won’t step in line with the rest of the league.

  12. C.Bass says: Dec 8, 2009 9:47 PM

Tebow’s release/mechanics won’t work in the NFL, nor will his run plays. He holds the ball too low and out from his body which will be disasterous in the NFL.
Go ahead JAX and draft him. While he’s one of the great college QBs, so was Charlie Ward, Tommie Frazier, and Gino Torretta (well, maybe Gino was never “great”).

  13. downwithdansnyder says: Dec 8, 2009 9:48 PM

Can you say “wildcat”? Think about the possibilities while getting Tebow seasoned. He’ll find a position to settle in to, but the utility between now and then will be worth the high pick. Not to mention the type of guy you’re getting. He’s a locker room changer, with slight chance of flameout though always possible. They guy’s a winner and those of the guys that should get a shot. Who would you pick today for the next 5-10 years Chad 85 or Tebow. I know what I’d do 10 of 10 times.

  14. Jungle Juice says: Dec 8, 2009 9:48 PM

This is impossible to work out. They don’t even know who will pick in what spot so they can’t even cut deals yet.
Somehow they worked out a deal with most of the teams in just one day?
    C’mon.

  15. Prodigy21 says: Dec 8, 2009 9:49 PM

Is it really a wink-nod situation if no one else wants him to play quarterback?

  16. DoomsDayD75 says: Dec 8, 2009 9:50 PM

Not sure why you’d spend a 1st round pick on a wildcat QB.

  17. Favre On HGH says: Dec 8, 2009 9:51 PM

All I have heard is he is more than likely a 2nd rounder anyways, if that high.
Other teams probably laughed at the idea of the Jags taking him in round 1 and said “sure, you can have him in the 1st round.”

  18. midwest says: Dec 8, 2009 9:51 PM

That is the absolute STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard. Just where did you hear this “rumor,” Florio? It is pretty obvious you made it up.

  19. mmarlette says: Dec 8, 2009 9:52 PM

I live in Jax….I love the Jags, I hate the Gators. Tebow cried like a little girl, but these people are so off their rocker about a great college player who may or may not turn out to be a respectable professional that it will help save our team. The Jags already have some of the lowest ticket prices in the NFL and they’ll probably lower them a bit more for next season. We are getting an average of around 43,000 people a game. The stadium holds 67,000. If there are 24,000 people who would pay $420 for season tickets (Yes, rest of the NFL we can get a full season of 2 preseason games and 8 home games for $420!) then the Jags won’t have to worry about blackouts next year. I think the whole thing is sad that we can’t put people in the stands for a team that is sitting in the middle of a playoff race with a bunch of over-achieving rookies who will only be even better next year, but that’s Gator fans for you. Let’s beat the Dolphins this week and keep pissing off the rest of the NFL!

  20. cbrianwatkins says: Dec 8, 2009 9:52 PM

they better hire Urban along with drafting Wuerffel, I mean Tebow, they’ll need a coach that can get the most out of Grossman, I mean Tebow playing QB

My favourite joke is the “London Shaguars.”

  22. Sportygal says: Dec 8, 2009 9:54 PM

What about Garrard? He is doing decently there. I couldn’t imagine Tebow starting at QB as a rookie and have a hard time seeing him start at all as a QB. I love and respect the guy though and wish him the best. I think moving to the TE position would be best.

  23. LOLYEAHRIGHT2 says: Dec 8, 2009 9:54 PM

  24. xgbx says: Dec 8, 2009 9:55 PM

If Ned Flanders and “Touchdown” Tommy Vardell had a baby, it would be Tim Tebow.

  25. hiddentrack says: Dec 8, 2009 9:55 PM

C’mon now. If you’re going to post a rumor this crazy, you need to show your readers some respect and name your source(s). Nothing about the Jaguars 2009 draft or anything that Gene Smith has said about his draft philosophy would give any indication that he would do something like this. I get that this is a rumor mill, but let’s try to land these rumors in the realm of possibility. I just don’t see this happening.

  26. ILIKEPIE says: Dec 8, 2009 9:55 PM

If Tebow goes to the Jags he will get plenty of opportunities to cry in 2010

  27. Banvard316 says: Dec 8, 2009 9:55 PM

That’s all well and good except that Tebow is gonna suck as a pro.

  28. SkeeterK says: Dec 8, 2009 9:56 PM

    I’m starting a rumor, therefore, it’s a rumor.

  29. AutumnWind999 says: Dec 8, 2009 9:56 PM

I think Tebow will be available when the Jags pick because no team with any sense would pick an inaccurate thrower whose best skill is running dive plays to play QB in the NFL.

  30. whatthehellisgoingonoutthere says: Dec 8, 2009 9:59 PM

Of course the other 31 teams might step aside because he’ll be a suck ass QB at the NFL level. Tebow thinks he’s an NFL QB, but he won’t be.
Childress will probably outsmart them and jump ahead and draft him to replace Brent so he can reunite him with Bong Harvin. It would be a great marketing campaign for when they arrive to their new home LA.

  32. beastroid says: Dec 8, 2009 9:59 PM

this is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard of. Is Tim Tebow going to convince people to buy 30k more seats a game? Nah
Is Tim Tebow going to actually upgrade the team at either the qb or h-back positions? doubtful in the short term at the very least

  33. jackbauerqb1 says: Dec 8, 2009 10:01 PM

This is a pretty retarded reporting of a rediculous rumor. Sounds like something that would be broadcast on ESPN.
“Tebow may be drafted as early as the first round, or may even fall all of the way to the sixth round”

  34. lebowski says: Dec 8, 2009 10:02 PM

That ‘London Shaguars’ is hilarious Florio.

  35. Cereal Blogger says: Dec 8, 2009 10:02 PM

Jax is the NFL’s mistake. Baltimore clearly should have gotten the expansion team they support their team. Jax will probably head to LALA after they realize Tebow is not an NFL QB. Ill say year three of his contract…

  36. last starfighter says: Dec 8, 2009 10:03 PM

This is an irresponsible piece of reporting. The problem is, you want it both ways. You want to be able to pretend to be real journalists but you want to be able to post any rumor anyone tells you without impunity (ie Drudge). When are media people going to realize their job is to report the news and not create it? Isn’t this what you rag on espn for?

  37. waterboy says: Dec 8, 2009 10:09 PM

I seriously doubt any other team would be dumb enough to trade up to get Tebow in the 1st rd! I personally wouldn’t see anyone taking him higher than a 3rd rd pick and that’s only if he has good hands!

  38. alltimephelan says: Dec 8, 2009 10:10 PM

I don’t know where to start with what’s wrong with this article. Why would any team step aside to keep Jacksonville from moving to LA? Its the rest of the NFL that wants the Jags to move. Its impossible to believe that the other teams that remain candidates to make the move would help take Jacksonville off that list, making themselves more of a target. If anything, they would be taking away options to help keep the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Not to mention the legal ramifications.
I have to believe that Gene Smith isn’t going to let anybody make this decision for him. Not the NFL, not the fans, not anyone. We can’t afford to make another bad decision with our first round pick, and it’s his butt on the line if we do. Based on the amazing job he did in the last draft, everyone, even the governor, needs to sit back, shut up, and let the man draft. It’s the only way this team will get back to playoff caliber.

  39. The Coop says: Dec 8, 2009 10:10 PM

  40. PossibleCabbage says: Dec 8, 2009 10:12 PM

Really, all the Jaguars front office needs to do is call all other 31 NFL teams and ask “Hey, do you guys have a first round grade on Tebow?”. They can interpret the peals of riotous laughter on the other end appropriately, they don’t even need an answer.

I just love all these experts that just KNOW Tebow will fail in the NFL when there are at least 5 former/current head coaches with Super Bowl rings that say he will succeed. Jon Gruden says he will revolutionize the NFL. Tony Dungy says he would draft him 1st overall over any college player. But the hell with them. You turds know better.

Another Gator draft pick will NOT sell tickets. 2 years ago Reggie Nelson, bust, last year Derrick Harvey, bust.
Tebows a great story, and from jax, but the majority of Gator Fans will show up for a game or two, but buy season tix, doubtful. Not when they can watch UF vs. FIU! It is unfortunate that Jacksonville thinks it is Gainesville.
Jax is coming off a year where they had HUGE expectations and they schat themselves, in a small city with no NFL history this shouldn’t be such a surprise.
Weaver is doing everything he can, the city has a city wide promotion for a tailgate party for the Thursday night game.
Just gotta win right now, if you care this much to read comments, then buy a ticket this week!

  47. Thunderbolt says: Dec 8, 2009 10:31 PM

This isn’t unprecedented. Anyone else remember the USFL draft with Steve Young? Los Angeles desperately wanted him, but they sat eighth in the draft order and didn’t have the ammo to trade up. The rest of the USFL realized the value of having a star like Steve Young in LA, and the same wink-nod arrangement was made, whereby Young inexplicably sat on the board until the eighth pick, where LA grabbed him.
It’s happened before, and I had kind of wondered if it might be in the works here.

  49. SF Saints Fan says: Dec 8, 2009 10:38 PM

When I started reading this I was trying to figure out how you would have a “wink nod” agreement among all of the NFL teams to not draft the guy in the first three rounds or so, thereby allowing the Jaguars to draft Tebow in the third or fourth round where he belongs.
Then, I read further and it looks like the “rumor” is that the Jaguars will draft him in the FIRST round???
The Jaguars might not have to worry about ticket sales if they do this, but what about the wasted first round pick?

This is the best thing for Jax.
Bring the Dolphins to LA. This is the perfect franchise. Games will be sold out for years.

Jesus tap-dancing Christ, Florio. I thought you were an idiot before… but wow. Whoever sold you this bullshit needs to be given a medal.
Why does this make any single bit of sense, at all. Ever.?????
Other owners of the league care about the Jacksonville Jaguars… why? Oh that’s right, they don’t. This is a business, people don’t just allow players to fall to teams because it’s “the nice thing to do”. The other NFL owners could care LESS about helping the Jaguars sell tickets. They know that if the Jags fold, they’ll go to another city, where chances are they will actually MAKE money, meaning the more profitable owners will not have to subsidize their assess all year long with those $100 million gifts they’re shelling out right now.
If a team thinks Tebow is worth it. They’ll take him. End of story. No matter how much he might mean to the Jags. If they don’t, they won’t. Simple as that.

What is the fixation with Tebow? He is really not all that good, even at the college level. He is the most overrated college football player in the history of the game.
He is not even the best Gator QB ever. Think about it. What has he done? In three years as a starter, he is 1-1 in bowl games, has won only one SEC Championship, and one National Championship. As a three year starter, he has as many losses as Danny Wuerfell did as a four year starter. At least Wuerfell won four SEC Championships and played in two National Championships.
I certainly don’t recall Gator fans screaming for the Jags to draft Wuerfell.
Please everybody, stop with the Tebow crap. There is nothing so special about him that he should warrant so much attention.

  67. thejabronisayz says: Dec 9, 2009 12:04 AM

I just have a general question. What is it that everyone has against Tim Tebow? Is it the fact that he’s religious? Is it the fact that he cried when he lost? Big deal. Players in the NFL cry all time when they win big games, so why is it problematic for a player to be moved to tears when he loses a game? Allen Iverson was just brought to tears by joining his former team. Seeing that from Tebow just demonstrates to me that he is passionate about the game and cares about winning. That’s more than I can say about 90% of the NFL: guys who are just in it for the money. I would take this kid on my team in a heartbeat.
Oh, my bad, you must dislike Tebow because he sucks. Yeah, over 8800 yards and 85 touchdowns as a 3 year starter. He must really suck. I mean he doesn’t come any where close to Herschel Walker’s SEC rushing record – oh no nevermind Tebow broke that this past season. A 25-2 record the past 2 years, boy, this kid is just awful.
Tebow was not responsible for why the Gators lost on Saturday. Last I heard, he did not play defense, and it was Flordia’s defense that gave up 32 points to Alabama and forced Florida to abandon their game plan. If Carlos Dunlap played in that game, then there might have been a different outcome. I can’t wait for Tebow to go into the NFL and show what he can do. Since when can these so called “experts” analyze how a QB will do in the NFL? That is why Tom Brady was drafted as the 199th pick, and JaMarcus Russell was picked 1st. They are clueless, and anyone who says that Tebow is not worthy of a 1st round pick is also clueless.

At least their five fans will get to boo a hometown boy. Why was it again that NFL gave Jacksonville a team?

  71. PackFaninPackLand says: Dec 9, 2009 12:22 AM

What a ridiculous story/rumor/thought up idea while sitting on the $hitter, Florio. Let’s say that THAT is even what Jacksonville wants to do, if they have say the #9 overall pick, and say Seattle, SF, KC, or the Redskins (or whoever for that matter) has the #8 pick, if it was widely known that the Panthers are drooling over Tebow, why wouldn’t the team with the pick ahead of Jacksonville call Carolina with about 60 seconds left in their pick selection and say we want your #1 and #2 picks this year, or WE will take Tebow (or say to them that they have another trader for that pick themselves). Make Carolina Shit their pants – because they only have a few seconds to make a “make or break” decision that could decide the future of the franchise ??? Would Carolina be willing to throw the dice that they wouldn’t make that pick, or that they don’t have a trader, and risk a lifetime of ridicule over being “cheap” … at literally the last second ??? Doubtful if they have this big of a hard-on for him.
Making this thought known throughout the NFL world is as dumb as Ditka saying he would trade his whole draft for Ricky Williams, beforehand.

  72. PackFaninPackLand says: Dec 9, 2009 12:28 AM

I think it’s funny they “rumors” arise. Does anyone know what Gene Smith is thinking? Does anyone know what he will do next April? I can almost guarantee Gene Smith will not be drafting Tim Tebow in the 1st round. Any Jacksonville doesn’t have a 2nd round pick so it won’t be then either. If anything it will be 3 or 4 that they will consider him. Gene Smith isn’t stupid, Florio. The jags have had enough crappy drafts in the past 5-6 years. He wouldn’t waste a 1st round pick on Tebow. Either Florio is drunk, actually believes that Tebow is good enough that the whole league would conspire together to make sure that one franchise can get him or is pulling a George and is trying to get fired so he can work for the Mets. Ultimately whatever the reason is, his rumour-mongering has reached incredible new lows.

  75. sniperhare says: Dec 9, 2009 1:00 AM

Stop posting crap like this with no sources. Smith won’t draft Tebow in the first round.
The Jags are fine without Tebow.

Florio.. the “wink-nod-itch-fart” deal never holds water, you should know that. In the end something always changes. The itch changes to a nose pick and then everything unwinds from there.
Are farts supposed to be wet?

  79. stusbadbulb says: Dec 9, 2009 2:36 AM

Am I supposed to believe that Tim Tebow-verated (clap, clap…clapclapclap) is the one human who can save the NFL in Jacksonville? The kid hasn’t even been laid.

  80. tatum32 says: Dec 9, 2009 4:14 AM

Raiders would take Tebow..then trade with Jags just to get additional picks…wouldnt put it past them

  81. Big Vinny says: Dec 9, 2009 7:10 AM

I had actually thought about this earlier. Wondering if it could be strongly implied in league meetings that a Tebow to Jax draft pick would help keep the team locally.
It sounds ridiculous, but I really wonder if something like this hasn’t gone down.
Regardless of what anyone on this board thinks about Tebow’s abilities as an NFL player, the fact remains that he is ridiculously popular in Jacksonville. Many, including myself, think he’s the best college player we’ve ever seen. I’m not a Gator fan, but there are a few hundred thousand of those in Jax also.
Tebow could be a short term solution to ticket sales – period. If the Jags draft him, there’ll be no blackouts in 2010 – period. Now in 2011 and 2012 if the team’s not winning that’ll be a different story. In the short term, this would generate a buzz not seen in this city since the 1996 playoff run.

  82. trickbunny says: Dec 9, 2009 7:14 AM

Tebow is NOT going to Cleveland. Puh-lease. If Cleveland did take him, they’re stupid.

  83. eaglealan64 says: Dec 9, 2009 7:23 AM

This may be a totally crazy rumour but that’s why we love this site. People are talking about it but no one else would touch the story. Good stuff Florio.

  84. LuvThatDirtyWatah says: Dec 9, 2009 7:31 AM

Collusion is a good thing for the league. At the end of the day it’s all about the league. Tebow to Jags is good for the Jags and good for the league.
If I had billions at stake like the owners I would demand collusion – an overall master plan to the league.

  85. BornSlippy says: Dec 9, 2009 7:35 AM

Has any rumor that Floria starts with “we here” ever come to fruition. $100 bucks florio will come up with the weiss and tom brady will be a package deal in cleveland in 2011.

  86. Big Vinny says: Dec 9, 2009 7:36 AM

    @thejabronisayz,
People hate Tebow because he is open with his Christianity. American society frowns upon that. We like our college players to be atheists with four or five kids and an arrest record. If Tebow were just an average kid he’d be more popular in these forums. Since he openly proclaims his faith and literally wears it on his face he’s going to be hated by the masses.
I’m no Gator Homer, but I love the kid and I hope he comes to the Jaguars.

  87. jj jones says: Dec 9, 2009 7:37 AM

  89. darlingknight27 says: Dec 9, 2009 8:21 AM

Jacksonville has a history of romancing players from UF. Depending on where they pick I think they would even trade up to get him. But no, no sane team would draft a sobbing fb, however, Jacksonville’s romance over him isnt exactly sane.

  90. Big Vinny says: Dec 9, 2009 8:36 AM

  98. skf727 says: Dec 9, 2009 9:00 AM

In the two biggest starts of Tebow’s career- last year’s national title game against OU and the recent SEC championship game- Tebow demonstrated that he is not an NFL QB by any measure.
Florida beat OU because of Percy Harvin and great goal-line defense. If OU goes into the half up 21-7 like they very easily could have being stopped inside the 5 twice- do you really think a one-dimensional Florida would have been able to come back? With Tebow THROWING? Not a chance.
Sans Harvin, Florida fell apart in the second half against Alabama and Tebow’s utterly boneheaded end zone pick when all he had to do was lob the ball and let his wide open receiver run under it sealed it.
He is successful in college because
A: He plays on a great team that is simply more talented than most of its opponents.
B: He is bigger and as fast as college LBs
C: He is a tremendous competitor that truly does seem to inspire his teammates.
Two of those three won’t exist at the next level and the third might rub veterans the wrong way if it is coming from an untested rookie.
And before anyone talks about his great stat lines, he scores so many TDs because Florida has not had an NFL-caliber RB during his entire time in Gainesville.
I don’t recall anyone anointing Ken Dorsey when he was 31-0 for the U back in the first half of this decade. And when they lost to Ohio State, well maybe there was a reason for it.

  99. No-Neck says: Dec 9, 2009 9:13 AM

Those clamoring for a “Tebow to the Jaguars” draft are a small, but vocal contingent of non-ticket buying fans in Jacksonville. If they are not willing to pony up the money now, why would they go out and buy season tickets to watch the local boy sit on the bench. He’s a 3rd or 4th round project QB at best and if they draft him at that position, then wonderful. This is a no win situation for the Jags because if they don’t draft him, it will give that group of fans another excuse to not buy tickets. If they do draft him, then these same fans won’t buy season tickets until he starts. For a project QB, it may be 3 years 9 (or never) before he develops the skills to be an NFL QB. The best thing that could happen for the Jags is some sucker team drafting ahead of the them picks him up.

  100. usher says: Dec 9, 2009 9:26 AM

um, I think the Jags already have a decent QB if I’m not mistaken. Tebow will be one of the all time biggest busts at QB if taken in the first round.

It’s happened before, and I had kind of wondered if it might be in the works here.”
Big Big difference between LA and Jacksonville. JAX has a star in MJD, but its jacksonville….the market wont bring any real money in.

  105. Slvrshot says: Dec 9, 2009 10:19 AM

I have Tebow as a late third on my board.

  106. Seeryer says: Dec 9, 2009 11:37 AM

There is no way Gene Smith drafts tim Tebow in the first round. Oh yeah, when the Jags make the playoffs and Garrard throws for 4,000 yards and an almost 3-1 TD to INT ratio why would they draft a QB? The majority of Jag fans are not Gator fans. Most Jag fans would be upset if Tebow was drafted in round 1 by the Jags. And the excuse next year will be, “i’ll buy season tickets once Tebow is the starter”. This town is the most middle class with the less roots of any team in the league. Hanging in Jax while the economy recovers is the right thing to do. The Jags sold out before Tebow even enrolled in Gainesville, it will happen again. 6 years of attroucious talent aquisition has made the Jags irrelvant in many people’s minds. Another draft like last years draft is what is needed, not a gimmick pick in the 1st round.

  107. JagsnGators says: Dec 9, 2009 1:28 PM

I can say this that if Tebow comes to Jax my family is buying 4 season tickets and we are not the only ones that feel this way. As a season ticket holder of Gator tickets for 24 years, that Tebow makes the fans feel apart of the game and that is appreciated by the fans.

  108. texasPHINSfan says: Dec 9, 2009 1:47 PM

The ignorance in this thread is mind-numbing. Apparently we have a bunch of qualified GM’s reading PFT that all post here, because I had no idea the verdict was already in on how Tebow will perform at the pro level.
    A couple of things, guys.
    1) Tebow doesn’t cry after every loss. He cried after the biggest game of the season, and a heart-breaking loss to (pretty much) end his college career. Let’s face it, the game against Alabama was bigger than the Sugar Bowl will be. So everyone ostracizes the guy for showing emotion after a tough loss. Give me a break, I’m sure none of you have ever cried.
    2) Tebow is overrated? How? He’s set all sorts of records – this is not something you can do if you’re “overrated”. He’s rated exactly how he produces.
    3) “Tebow will suck in the NFL” – everyone is assuming that he’ll be a QB for starters (which we do not know). Further, 99% of you read something ONE draft pundit wrote one time about Tebow’s mechanics, writing him off, and all of you just ran with it. How reliable are draft pundits? Why don’t you ask all the guys who thought Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Kijana Carter, etc were all going to be “great” players. The reality is the knocks on Tebow thus far are all uknowns. We don’t know how he’ll take snaps under center because he never does. You can’t assume that since he doesn’t take snaps under center, that he is physically incapable of doing so. It’s doubt, yes – but proven suckage? Not even close
    4) “Tebow is undersized.” How is 6’3″, 250 lbs “undersized” in the NFL? That is good size for even a linebacker, and definitely more than good enough for a RB, FB, or TE. He’s perfectly sized for a lot of positions on the team. For the record he’s bigger than 85% of the RB’s in the NFL.
    5) The hate. If I had to guess, I would assume that most of you hate & pile on because you’re just tired of hearing his name. Well, quick note – the press and media are responsible for that, not Tim. Tim does not go around talking about himself all the time. Does anyone actually have a good reason for disliking the guy? Yes he loves Jesus. Yes he always says the right things. But the guy is genuine and would never harm anyone. Ask any player he’s played against – the dude is all class all the time.
It is just crazy to think that after the Florida/Alabama game, the nation piles on and makes fun of Tebow, ridiculing the guy and ostracizing him for crying (showing emotion), yet the very next day you had 40k+ fans cheering michael vick. What kind of world are we in that we laugh at and ridicule one of the best human beings in pro sports, and celebrate a guy who contributes NOTHING to society and has served hard time for heinous crimes.
I realize this post is long, but after reading through 100 posts on here of hate, someone has to point out a lot of the falsehoods and hate are unfounded, or at least poorly deserved. Stop piling on guys.

  109. TealDeal says: Dec 9, 2009 2:06 PM

You seriously expect people to believe you and your fairweather family would sack up and buy tickets? To watch Teblow sit the bench behind Garrard?
Why don’t you come out now that we are in the midst of a playoff run?
Because you’re like all the rest of the Gaytur fans (not alumni) in this backwards ass town and talk outta your ass.
Hope you enjoyed your run with TebowTears.

You are the problem, that proves it. What is wrong with you and all of your Gator Tebow infacuated fans? I’m a Seminole fan, but I respect Tebow’s game and yes he has had an outstanding college career. Obviously you’re not hurt by the economy and you won’t buy Jag tickets now. A team that’s 7-5 pushing for the playoffs. But if Timmy comes to town you’ll buy season tickets. Not just 1 but 4 season tickets, WOW, amazing. Get over your boy crush with Tebow and support your local team now and while you’re at it tell all of your other Gator buddies to do the same since you all travel in packs. Lastly, do the REAL Jags fans a favor and take Jags off your name JagsnGators. Pathetic!!!!
