Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin sit out Vikings' practice

Two of the Minnesota Vikings’ top offensive players were held out of practice today.

Running back Adrian Peterson was listed on the official injury report as not participating with foot and ankle injuries, while wide receiver Percy Harvin was listed as not participating with an illness.

Harvin has repeatedly shown up on the injury report with an unspecified illness, reportedly because he suffers from migraine headaches. But he hasn’t missed any games and is second on the team in receptions and receiving yards.

Peterson hasn’t missed any games, either, but maybe he needs some rest: He’s coming off by far his least productive game of the season, gaining just 19 yards on 13 carries in the Vikings’ loss to the Cardinals, and the week before that he fumbled twice against the Bears.

AP looks to be a bit injured when playing, ever since like week 3.
He should take a week or two off to rest, chester and favre can keep the train going.

So… just curious… how are the Vikings doing since Childress got his extension? I could see this working out similar to what happened to Jauron and the Bills last year. The moral here is that you don’t reward a coach before he’s accomplished anything or you take away some of that motivation. The Vikings will fade down the stretch, you can bank on it.

  5. CanadianVikingFan says: Dec 9, 2009 6:57 PM

They need to use Chester Taylor more in the run game… He usually takes advantage of it, and I don’t mean what they currently do now. 3rd down draw play…
Why even making a post about Harvin, if you know that he suffers from Migranes, and its been explained why even bother. Stupid MDS.

  6. mnmaverick says: Dec 9, 2009 7:00 PM

Once again. You can’t blame Adrian for piss-poor blocking by the offensive line. He hasn’t had any room to run. Watch the games, the run blocking is non-existent. Part of that might hgave to do with injuries on the line but they’ve been horrible at run blocking all year.

  7. OmegaXxXNFL says: Dec 9, 2009 7:02 PM

Before any douchebag comments come in from BobNelson, JimmySmith, etc. does anyone ever wonder…these could be the same douchebag. They write in the same style, pull out stats out of their ass, and share a hatred for the Vikings. Sounds very much like Mike Florio has different accounts to come in and stir the pot so that the clicks climb on this site. Im sure others have thought the same thing.

Oh, oh! Cue up either Bob “wishbone” Nelson (he with the IQ of a chunk of Wisconson cheese,) or his equally annoying buddy little Jimmy Smith with another of their inane blatherings about the Vikes.

  10. ShocknAWWE says: Dec 9, 2009 7:20 PM

AP could still hit 13-1400 yds on the season. But maybe he does need some rest. It could do him some good to come back strong for the post season, assuming the season doesn’t fall apart.
Percy’s ‘illness’ doesn’t scare me that much. He has been consistent in being fairly to pretty damn productive throughout the season. I just hope his explosiveness and elusiveness start to show again on kick returns. Also curious to why Darius Reynaud (if that’s how it’s spelled) is taking duties on punt returns and he isn’t. I know it’s a lot for the kid to handle, but he came into the organization knowing they wanted to utilize him in a lot of ways.

Peterson just isn’t the same guy he used to be. He used to be elite and now he’s just very good. You blame the line, but does that mean that Hutchinson and Mckinnie can’t open up holes on the left side anymore? I thought they had one of the best O-lines in the league and Loadholt was the savior at RT? What’s changed?

Bob Loblaw, what a stupid comment. First of all you are talking about a winning record. Regardless of the teams, it makes your comment look rather dumb. The Vikings have played just as many cream puffs and certainly didn’t beat most of them convincingly. Anytime the Vikes have faced a decent team, they’ve lost. They lucked out facing the Packers with a ridiculously injured O-line and played within 4 weeks of each other. You know damn well you don’t want to face the Packers in the playoffs!

Twiz, perhaps you should take your own advice. Why don’t we look at the facts. The Packers LT was injured and they started a guard at LT, the center to LG and the backup off the bench. Then went to a rookie 3rd string guard to play LT after the backup LT was injured. That same rookie 3rd string guard had to start at LT and the RT has no since been replaced by Tauscher for poor play. In other words, the O-line was a mess and you got the benefit of playing 2 games against the Packers in 4 weeks.

The Bengals haven’t been forced to come from behind to win in too many games this season, but they’ve been mostly successful at it when it was requried. See their first wins against the Ravens and Steelers. With considerable deficits, Palmer led impressive 4th quarter drives in both to win the game with only seconds left on the clock. Although, I agree that hasn’t been their game this season, but that’s by choice not because they aren’t capable of doing it.

The injurybug has set in in full force in Viking World though. Should make all of us fans concerned.
Percy Harvin (illness), Adrian Peterson (ankle/foot), Tyrell Johnson (concussion) and Phil Loadholt (shoulder) did not practice.
Loadholt fell hard on his right shoulder. There are indications that he dislocated it.
Players who were limited in practice were Cedric Griffin (neck), Steve Hutchinson (shoulder), Bryant McKinnie (ankle), Visanthe Shiancoe (ribs), Pat Williams (foot), Antoine Winfield (foot), Bernard Berrian (hamstring), Anthony Herrera (concussion) and Karl Paymah (knee).
That is a pretty large list of key players. Hope we can keep the wheels on.

Maybe you like Rosie O’Donnell.See,I tend to be more Howard Stern.Let go of your attachment to being right, and suddenly your mind is more open. You’re able to benefit from the unique viewpoints of others, without being crippled by your own judgment.

DuluthFan- It does in fact take a man to apologize. Accepted. Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it every day.

Moving the vikings does very important things.
    1) More revenue for the NFL
    2) More revenue to visiting teams wherever the vikings are playing
    3) The viking franchise move may make enough revenue in the future to survive.
    Everybody wins.
The franchise will finally get some fan support and revenue.
The league and other owners get more revenue and don’t have to subsidize the vikings.
Minnesotans no longer have to pay to subsidize the vikings and state revenues go up. Their money no longer goes to an absentee owner. Crime rates in Minnesota will drop.
It really doesn’t matter if it is Los Angeles, Mexico City, London, or Toronto. Everybody wins.
There is no legacy of the vikings. It is not as if they have any trophies in their 48 years.
Does anyone miss the other 2 NFL franchises Minnesotans didn’t support, The Duluth Eskimos and the Minneapolis Marines?
Losing their 3rd NFL franchise is nothing new

All the Vikings need to do is get an early lead. The Bengals aren’t built for oming from behind. Carson Palmer basically only has one guy who can get open.
Right dude, Pack, Ravens, Steelers, all come from behind wins, not at ALL built to come from behind.
Actually, I’ll root for it too, we play better, more inspired ball when the backs are against the wall. Good take dummy.
Perv, dude, this site is so full of stiffs, given the nature of your posts, curious to know your take on Chad’s celebrations, aside from the fact that you hope Ragnar slams him after getting his phallic symbol taken from him?
I see the injury report as resting key players, and honestly, I’d be more concerned with how healthy Shiancoe is, he’s likely going to be the Vikings best threat in the RZ Sunday.

CurseofBoJackson- Truthfully,I like Chad Johnson and his way of having fun. Brings some showmanship to football. I HATE BORING PEOPLE. Just because you are a man, doesn’t mean you can’t live life with child like enthusiasm. I’ve been a soldier but doesn’t mean I’m going to be a stern totem pole with a poker face. Chad does his job like a man but knows how to cut loose and smell the roses. If a Bengal must score Sunday,I hope it is him. I’ll be waiting to see what he pulls out of his ass. I’m sure I will laugh too.

    @ me
Dude, if your mom has got you up after your nap time yet and you have had your milk (no, no, it has to come from a glass now, you know you’re too old for that) and cookies I just want to tell you that your post was really, really mean.
Wow, I mean you hurt me so bad with all cream puff, low IQ, tard, too dumb to answer stuff.
Now, go back to mommy and ask her really, really nice and maybe, just maybe, she’ll let you suckle one more time just for ol times sake.
You are a child among grown ups. You should be seen, but not heard.
