It’s not a major shock that Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson practiced on Wednesday, ten days after suffering a concussion against the Redskins.
But it’s definitely a surprise to see that Eagles running back Brian Westbrook has returned to practice on a limited basis.
It’s the first practice for Westbrook since he suffered a second concussion on November 15, in a loss to the Chargers. (Westbrook’s first concussion came in late October, when he was knocked out on a Monday night against the Redskins.)
Receiver Kevin Curtis, who has missed several weeks with a knee injury, also practiced on a limited basis.
The bad news for the Eagles was that rookie receiver Jeremy Maclin did not practice Wednesday due to a foot injury. Coach Andy Reid has said that Maclin is suffering from plantar fasciitis.
The Eagles face the Giants in New Jersey on Sunday night. On the network whose logo appears on this page.
It’s only surprising because you have been trying to end Westbrooks career for the past two months.
The Birds are getting healthy at just the right time.
Fly Eagles Fly…
Maybe Maclin and Eli can compare sore feet stories like my Grandpa and his friends used to do.
Rotoworld (via the AP) says Westbrook only practiced with the scout team and probably won’t play this week.
keep mccoy-buckley-weaver in…westbrook should switch in for situations, like passing and out of the backfield routes that buckley and weaver cant run and mccoy isnt experienced enough for
lets face it birdman, his career is just about over as a starter.
I hope plantar fasciitis doesn’t send Maclin’s season to the crapper like it did to Eli’s. Or maybe Eli just isn’t that good to begin with.
But his skills have diminished so much, isn’t it time the Birds just cut him so they can use his roster spot for an actual player?!?……… I was waiting for Florio to add this as his prediction of Westy demise has been well documented….
Next time could you put a “link” in to accurately define said “plantar fasciitis” I hate having to leave your website to do it myself…..
If the Eagles get anywhere near healthy, that equals trouble for everyone else…..
I’d love a healthy Westy for our annual Xmas playoff run
Yeah Hooby. No one would catch on to that.
Hooby -
As a star yes, but Florio has been trying push the idea of him never playing again. He thinks the NFL needs to make an example out Brian.
This has to be the most rested Westbrook has been during any season of his professional career. His body has to close to feeling 100%…..with the exception of his head, of course.
the eagles gameplan is more balanced when westbrook’s been out. i think there is no need to rush him in. shaddy and weaver are doing a great job as is.
@SirRibbit – You mean your annual Xmas one and done?
woahhhh easy there opie he can still play, just not on the basis we need him. now that we have mccoy weaver and buckley, we might just have the first ever 4 headed monster, and the best part is that each back isnt a 1 dimensional player, they can do all sorts of things
@ Birdman…..dude laugh of the day for me….Totally nailed it
Its not Westbrook, but Rebecca of Sunny-Brook Farms, and if The Iggles dont raise the mortgage by Sat, the bank’s gonna foreclose.
Hap,
As long as we’re doing movie analogies, how about the Cowboys doing a Titanic? Soon as you start to see ice, you know there’s trouble coming!
Manbearpig, I’m not sure how getting to the Conference Championship game FIVE times this decade means one and done. No rings, but more wins than any other team in the division come January.
@SirRibbit – You mean your annual Xmas one and done?
———————————–
name the last time Reid lost an opening round playoff game
Bring them all on dont want to give you egirl fans any reason other then you suck when the Giants kick your green asses back down to Fishtown
KevinfromGetRe-illy,
Dude, Dallas TORCHED The Eeek-Girls at The Linc. Enough said.
This game will be over by halftime again.
Bring the dog killer bring the rest of your thug chesse steak eating crew and get your asses whipped all the way back down the pike
This is our house and its our last games before they tear the old lady down so we are not going to lose to a bunch of shit from Filthy
@SirRibbit – where do the eagles hide their Lombardi Trophies?
NY will make it four losses in a row to Philadelphia Sunday night. This Eagle team is better than the one that sliced NY up back in Sept. Take the Eagles and points!
i love how a post about westbrook and jackson returning to practice turns into a debate about the eagles sucking. i wont stoop, partly because i have better things to do with my time, but i will say this.
annual xmas one and done: im not sure if reid has ever gone to just one playoff game and lost (although the cowboys seem fond of that in the past decade)
dog killer: hes done killing dogs. 18 months in prison and all your money will do that. dont be surpised if he scores on you (if)
whoever said that they TORCHED the eagles in the linc: it was a 4 point game with several questionable calls and an injured starting rb…if you consider that a torching then i guess the packers bent you over and took it around town, didnt they
Since 2000, the Eagles are
third in the NFL in overall
winning pct. (.689) in Nov. and Dec.
They are 25-12 against the NFC East during that span
@Bigbluefan – Your team is bad and you’re an idiot. Smells like another blowout to me.
adding on to my previous post.
@alans123: we dont have any. but why would we hide them? would you rather us shove them in everyones faces like the cowboys do? GOT 5? WE DO!!!!
got a playoff win in the past 14 years? WE DO!!
Birds and chargers roll this weekend… eagles first place of the east…giants have no chance in this game

2 monthes? how about 2 years. He has been putting Westbrook down since before he got his new contract saying hes almost 30 that hes going down hill then the same when he was 29 and since hes been 30 hes been saying his career is over. All Steeler fans like to try to put the Eagles down.
Curtis hasnt been out for several weeks its more like 10+ weeks. Everyone including PFT wanted to question the Eagles for not putting him or Westbrook on IR and I guess thats why their talking about football instead of involved in football.
And Maclins had that problem for about 3 weeks now and hes played just fine so it isnt bad news. He’ll be ready whenever the Eagles ask him to be.
Thats why I was calling BS when everyone was talking about all the Falcons injuries after they lost. There hasnt been a team with more injuries then the Eagles this year so I dont want to hear any excuses.
Hap,
Only a clueless Cowboy fan would argue that a mid season 20-16 at the Linc trumps a 44-6 beatdown with the playoffs on the line. Don’t worry, your guys will probably be out of it by week 17, so it won’t mean too much when Kolb beats them handily.
Hooby: I wasn’t questioning Westy’s ability. I was simply saying that I was shocked that Cornflorio didn’t add that to his post.
As others have said, Perez Florio has been talking of his demise for years.
One other question, when someone (manbearpig) brings up an unsubstatiated b.s. opinion like “annual one and done,” then has that blow up in its face, it quickly switches to how many championships have you won? Really?!? Take your beating for being ignorant…….
If Westy’s head is right, Eagles are a much better team and a load to slow. Now, if we can just get our defense somewhat healthy, we could go deep in playoffs…..keeping my fingers crossed
Kevin from Philly: There is no comparison, but you need to worry about the Giants this week. Honestly, you could bring back Randall Cunningham and add Mark Wahlberg for the game in Dallas. NO WAY IN HELL you win that game. Without Desaun running down the field with wide open since the defenses are too stupid to cover him all PHILLY had is a shuffle pass.
@opie: yeah pretty much, i just feel like westbrook was never a feature back and we should just lower the workload because he clearly cant keep up, what with a damaged brain and ankle and knee and all.
@shazard01: that was one of the most incoherent posts ive ever read, but im pretty sure you said that it doenst matter whos at QB, that without desean burning defenses and getting wide open, the giants will tear the eagles apart…
if yes: desean is playing this week. and we dont really have to worry about the giants in general. weve proven that were the better team, weve shown that eli is VERY beatable, and that their run game can be shut down like….like…
pft’s old server? you get my point.
