As I told your butt buddy Hap in another thread, it takes an idiot Cowboy fan to think 20-16 mid season trumps 44-6 with the playoffs on the line. As I recall, they won the first game last season, and gagged down the stretch. Looks like history repeating.

Making your starting QB the holder sounds like a really bad idea because of the chance he may get hurt. Now the fact that he is back there will help on fakes or if something should go wrong.
First off, I have always liked Kitna, he’s a great guy to have on a team, and a really good backup QB to have. I am a Bengals fan, and I remember the days when Kitna mishandled the ball as a QB. They always said it was due to his small hands. So, given the fact that he has never been a holder, and he has small hands, he is not an option.
Depending on who has done it before, I would think you’d want a wildcat type player back there to do it, someone who can run or throw.

The Cowboys are radical. They’re gonna fix their problems by switching the holder for FG. Mind blowing. Outside the box. The NFL will never be the same.
Here’s what they should do. Hire Martz as OC and start Kitna. Guaranteed 30% increase in yards per season and 5-6 extra wins per year. Or seven. That’s how many wins the Lions dropped after punting Martz and Kitna.
And can you imagine Jerry (Coolaid) Jones and Mad Martz together? Now, that’s mind blowing. Us lazy farts could just eat popcorn and watch ESPN forever.

The kicker isn’t lacking confidence. The holder is supposedly “lunging” for the snap as it comes to him, He only does it in games, never practice.
The kicker, holder, and ST coach have all identified this as the problem.

A couple people hit this on the head…. this isn’t about Romo, it’s about Wade Phillips making a change in the kicking game.
Really? THIS is gonna stop the December slide?
I heard an interview on the Dan Patrick Show awhile back where Jimmy Johnson told a story about how the moment he sensed his kicker lacked confidence, he cut him.
Wade? Yeah, he’s changing the holder.
I guess that’s why one of ‘em has rings, and one of them is best know for being “Bum’s son.”

Has Phillips ever watched ESPN Classic and seen safety Charlie Waters holding for Landry’s Cowboys? He does realize the holder doesn’t have to be a QB, right?
