Vick protesters say they were spat on

Michael Vick’s reception in his return to Atlanta on Sunday was decidedly mixed.

When he first took the field with the Philadelphia Eagles for pregame warm-ups, he got a fairly warm welcome from the fans who arrived early. But once the stadium had filled up at game time, he was greeted by loud boos when he took the field. Later, with the Eagles blowing out the Falcons and Vick playing quarterback in garbage time, the fans who remained in the stadium began to cheer him.

But it turns out Vick wasn’t the only one getting a mixed reaction in Atlanta on Sunday.

A group of protesters who came out asking the NFL to ban any player involved in dog fighting or cockfighting say they were supported by some but attacked by others.

Candace Hunziker, who attended the game representing a group called In Defense of Animals, said she was the subject of some rough treatment.

We’ve been spit on, we’ve been yelled at, we’ve been jostled around,” Hunziker said.

It got so bad for the protesters that they decided to leave early — much like the many Falcons fans who booed Vick in the first quarter.

No duh. Stop protesting something nobody cares about. If you own the animal, you have the right to do what you want. Some may say the animal is defenseless but isn’t that the same thing that could be said about hunting and nobody cares?

What did they expect from Vick-supporting idiots ? It’s similar to going to The Linc and cheering for the opponents.
Consider the venue and mentality of the wayward fans. They are also similar to those clowns that have come out in support of infidel Tiger, calling Elin names.
    They’re idiots.

Of course they would say this. They got zero media attention for their protests, so they have to manifest something else to get them attention.
When will organizations like PETA realize they are irrelevant?

you’re an idiot scrapdawg. you can’t smash a dog on the ground or electrocute it just b/c you own it.

They deserved to be spit on, if I was there I would have gotten in on the act. Vick served his time. People need to drop all of this crap against him.

Great, somehow a troll managed to get in the first post. Please do not feed.

  8. DonTerrelli says: Dec 9, 2009 11:26 AM

Well, unfortunately that should have been expected there in Atlanta, where for years Vick was considered a God.
That would be like NOW protesters outside Heinz Field protesting Big Ben.

I used to be a Falcons season ticket holder and dumped them because the dome has become an extension of the surrounding community (i.e. the ghetto). Doesn’t shock me. Surprised they weren’t robbed, murdered and raped.
I’m also shocked Arthur Blank didn’t offer Vick a limo to the airport or to wash his jock strap after the game.

Kudos to you sir! You started a post with the phrase “No duh” and the rest of the comment actually got even less intelligent. I mean, that’s almost impossible to do.
    (slow golf clap)

you have the right to do what you want? Go back to your trailer scrapdawg you redneck piece of trash.

  13. simple_simon1 says: Dec 9, 2009 11:30 AM

Well, maybe, just maybe, it’s because a majority of people actually believe that Vick deserves his right to a second chance and, also, because animal rights groups get really annoying to listen to after a while. I love animals, but this is long over done already. He’s working with the humane society, he lost his entire career, and he’s making a great effort to teach children what he didn’t reallize in time….. that dog fighting is wrong. He’s doing exactly what he’s supposed to do.
If this had been anybody else in society, and not a celebrity like Vick, they would have been told to stop. Nothing else would have happened. We treat dogs better than half the children in our society.

    scrapdawg12,
Just because you don’t care about it doesn’t mean other people don’t.
You don’t have the right to do anything you want to the animal just because you “own” it.
And I don’t think animal protesters are large fans of hunting either.

Wow. You really are an idiot.

I think people that spend that much time protesting for dogs, like to put Peanut butter on their Privates and let a dog lick it off…..Thats my guess!!!!!!

  17. famucancer says: Dec 9, 2009 11:32 AM

It was just 3 pathetic looking broads that even the cops were laughing at. If they really believed in their cause, which obviously they did not, they should have braved it out and stayed. They just wanted some camera time and instead got jeered because quite frankly, they were jokes.

  18. Mcsoup says: Dec 9, 2009 11:33 AM

    @scrapdawg
Nobody cares about hunting? Wow, you’re an ignorant dolt.
For future reference, people protest what THEY care about, not necessarily what YOU care about. And guess what? Even if animals weren’t defenseless, it would still be a horrific crime. Torturing living things deserve protests from people with a moderate I.Q., and not idiotic statements from some with the lowest common denominator affliction so prevalent in society.

Haha, Leave the man alone already…..Focus on Tiger Woods or some other story because this story has no “bite” (pun intended) anymore.
