Quintin Demps fined $12,500

Philadelphia Eagles safety Quintin Demps committed personal foul penalties on Sunday that various sports writers described as “stupid” and “moronic.”

Demps can now describe the penalties as “expensive.”

The NFL has fined Demps $12,500 for his two personal fouls, a roughing the passer penalty for a high hit on Falcons quarterback Chris Redman and a late hite on Falcons receiver Roddy White.

The Philadelphia Iquirer notes that Demps’ 2009 salary is $385,000, and quotes him as saying he thinks the $12,500 fine is steep.

“It’s Christmas time,” Demps said, “and I don’t want to be giving away free money.”

I am a life long Eagles fan, and believe me when I say this, Demps has gotta be one of the dumbest asses in the league.

Roughing the passer call was legitimate. The call on White was weak.

It’s steep considering his salary and also how little they fined Flozell Adams for his INTENTIONAL ILLEGAL LATE hit on Justin Tuck.

Another Die Eagles fan here, and a message to Demps, You are fast becoming a disappointment. You have a boatload of promise and a boatload of stupid that may ruin a potentially terrific career.
    Don’t let the stupid win

And 30k for wearing a poncho and a sombrero. It all makes sense.

Im an Eagles fan and Im happy about the fines given to Demps. He has hurt the Eagles in alot of ways with the dumb penalties he creates. He has been called for mutiple personal fouls in his short career with the Eagles. He is also one of the biggest reasons why the Eagles didnt go to the Superbowl last year. Larry Fitzgerald abused him regularly.
That being said I think he is a good player and this will only help him get his act together. When the fine is that big of a percentage of your anual income you will make a change. And if hes not smart enough to do that then he deserves to keep getting fined.

Guess you’ll get fined for saying its xmas. Demps you suck and stop being a moron.

Soooo intentionally pushing a guy is worse than intentionally hitting a guy in the head?

Yeah that’s what I say about Flo. The more fines he gets, the better he gets his act together.

The fines all go to charity.

thanks for stealing my thunder foosball but yeah im shocked…how in gods name does that quote go unnoticed. First off does “free money” even mean? Did you not earn that money demps? Are you saying your not worth your contract? NOT TO MENTION “ITS CHRISTMAS TIME” and your “free money” is going to CHARITY based on the fact all nfl fine money gets split up at the end of the year and is divided into 4 seperate charities. ITS CHRISTMAS TIME. My god.

I don’t believe Demps will be back next year. He’s a slug. He had a chance to win the starting free safety spot in camp, but decided it was already his and didn’t have to earn it. Then he got pissed when Jones and Harris were getting playing time ahead of him. He won’t stop with the bone-head penalties. He doesn’t get it.
vox, did you ever have sex? With a partner? A human partner? Not the blow-up kind. The real kind. One who still had a pulse?

    Vox,
Just wanted to point out…our guy got fined during a blowout WIN!
Your guy was fined in a devastating, divisional LOSS. Just sayin’

  22. Vaxman says: Dec 11, 2009 8:29 AM

Yep, the call on white was bs… N the ball was tipped anyways so wtf? If anything, when u gotta have a zebra herd get together to throw a flag, and they get it WRONG!! The refs shoulda got fined, for wasting our time, n giving the falcons another 4 downs inside the 10… BS

  23. Bigdannyt says: Dec 11, 2009 8:30 AM

I love my Eagles, as for my fellow Eagles fanatics I some times wonder. Most of what I have heard all season is how Demps is afraid to hit. Now because he is a little over zealous we (Eagles Fanatics) want to crucify him. Demps is young with a lot of talent, Rome was not built in a day, give him a little more time. Any way, the call on White is questionable at best.

  24. Jason Frost says: Dec 11, 2009 9:32 AM

This brings up an issue with the fines..if you think about OchoCinco just saying he doesn’t care about fines (because a $12,500 fine to OchoCinco is a drop in the bucket relative to what he makes, and it’s a little more than 3% of Demps’ salary)..I wonder if the League has ever tossed around fining players in proportion to how much they make? I think that would be a better idea if they wanna deter higher paid players from breaking the rules…

  25. Dawkphan says: Dec 11, 2009 10:13 AM

    Hey Vox,
Did you notice that most of the Eagles fans that have posted are not pleased with Demps actions and accept the fines for personal fouls that he commited. As opposed to tha majority of Cowboys fans who accepted and condoned Flozell’s Cheap shots.
This just shows me that cowboy fans are the REAL CLASSLESS fans of the NFL as we have known all along , this just brings it to the forefront. Keep up the class !

“It’s Christmas time,” Demps said, “and I don’t want to be giving away free money.”
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, more like a spoon…a wooden spoon.
