The "Tardy Four" return to practice; Brady doesn't

Patriots coach Bill Belichick won’t hold Randy Moss, Adalius Thomas, Gary Guyton, and Derrick Burgess out of practice for more than one day.

The group known as “The Tardy Four” in New England was back on the field for practice Thursday, one day after being sent home for showing up late to work.  (Perhaps Thomas flew like the Jetsons to be on time.)

Of greater concern for the Patriots was the absence of Tom Brady from practice for the second straight day.  Yesterday, it was believed Brady missed practice partly because of the birth of his son.  He was at the team facility all day, but didn’t sleep the night before.

Now it appears Brady is sitting out because of his finger injury.  Brady played through the injury against Miami, and it didn’t appear to hurt his performance.  His first three quarters were nearly flawless before an ugly final frame.

Brady did visit the locker room briefly during the Dolphins game for a reported arm injury, but didn’t miss a snap.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot of concern that Brady could miss Sunday’s game yet, but his absence from practice is out of the ordinary.

    STOP STATING OPINION AS FACT!!!!!!!
Jeez could it be he got one more day off since his child was born yesterday!!?? He was in the locker room this morning! Stop creating non-stories!

He sat out because he doesn’t want any of the blame for a team that may be 7-6 after this weekend. He’s getting a head start. Frickin’ CHEATS.

    Who coined “The Tardy Four”?
Wouldn’t “The Tardy Boys” be better?

  4. I♥Patriots says: Dec 10, 2009 2:22 PM

I think Tom is fine, he seems to be the only one who cares if this team wins, so maybe BB let him have a little time with the wife and new baby.
    I hope I am right.

Hopefully BB makes the reTardy 4 stay for a double session.

Stating that “It appears he is out with a finger issue” is not stating opinion as fact.
“He is out with a finger issue” is stating opinion as fact. wah wah, this thread is called “latest news and rumors,” Florio’s a lawyer, he knows how to give himself loopholes, he speculates, it drives up site views, get a grip, it’s not that big a deal.

I don’t like the nickname, “The Tardy Four”. It sounds too similar to Favre’s nickname, “That Tard, Number Four”.

  14. sonvar says: Dec 10, 2009 3:16 PM

They could play it off due to injury but it’s much more realistic he’s out because of his child.

  15. stiller43 says: Dec 10, 2009 3:25 PM

Maybe it’s that nasty shoulder injury that had plagued him for 4+ years.
He should really get that checked out.

Allright asshat, usually it’s not fair to call people out on thEIR grammar, or the fact that thEIR reply makes about as much sense as a can of spam, or the fact that they managed to completely mangle a perfectly good Seinfeld reference in thEIR post, but in your case its perfectly okay. Otherwise you might not know. First off, you press the F5 button, not “click” it (with what exactly, your mouse?). You seem to enjoy the use of capital letters as evidenced by the above referenced, screwed-up Seinfeld quote, seeing as this is the case, perhaps you can remember to capitalize names (like Mikes) in the future. Lastly, since you seem to be a bit thick, One questions whether you will realize the satire above in regards to your misuse of the word “there”. Assuming that you’ve made it through the 2nd grade, you should know the difference and be able to properly spell it, try it next time, especially when you’ve already failed to give credit to a screwed up quote.
Now get back in the kitchen dolt, and make sure my french fries are piping hot next time through the drive-thru. Since when does Burger King offer wi-fi for its employees?

Very similar to the nickname for the entire team plus Belichick…”The RE-Tarded Fifty-Four”…or is that Bruschi’s former nickname when he was a Pats player? LMFAO!!!!

Last time I checked, he played through it on Sunday, and those two picks were not the result of the finger. This is a complete non-story.

Speculation at its worst. He could have said “It appears he’s out with a cold” or “It appears that he has a toothache”. But, no, the pot just HAS to be stirred, doesn’t it?

  24. goetta-head says: Dec 10, 2009 4:06 PM

NE, Pittsburgh, Giants, and Cowboys get waaaaay too much attention paid to them. There are other teams in the NFL ya know…

  26. Ken1313 says: Dec 10, 2009 4:25 PM

To those saying “when I am late for my job, I don’t get sent home”….there is no comparison here…..YOUR bosses could discipline you or fire you……. could an NFL coach do that? Hell no…..there would be a grievance filed by the players association…you damn well know that. But remember….the salary cap…cutting aplayer can hurt the team more than the player depending ont he player’s contract .
The players can be fined…but seriously…does a 5000.00 slap on the wrist do any good? (see Chad Ochocinco for the answer to that)
The ONLY real course of discipline is to send the player home….like a child and possibly bench him for a game.
Anyone who doesn’t understand this…doesn’t really understand the NFL

I think Mike Florio likes (is amused by) all the bashing. He lets us all do it here
This does not mean we all do not have a life. You wasted part of yours bashing those who bash Mike. This site is not what it once was, but it is still a great place to start for all things profootball.

Its really getting old, but I gotta be honest, I almost look forward to seeing these d-bags like Hap and Corn/Porn/JustBorn Florio posting the same crap over and over again. Everytime I picture Hap I just see this clown sitting by his computer, face all red, and pulling his hair out screeching to himself “I HATE THEM! I HATE THE PATRIOTS!!! THEY CHEATED!!! THEY CHEATED!!!” Then he slowly counts to ten and leans back, puts on some lipstick and stares at his defaced poster of Brady. Seriously man, calm down. You’re gonna have a stroke! I mean it could be worse, you could be JustBornFlorio or Matt Walsh. Just sit back and enjoy the season.

With the aforementioned passive-aggressive neanderthals, it’s a “Pavlov’s Dogs” kind of thing. I sort of feel bad for them, in a way…it’s not like they can help themselves.

Trust me, you’re not fit to teach English Comp 101 either, but since you came off like a pretentious bastard, I’ll point out your mistakes. You frequently made use of the word “thEIR,” which shows possession. The original poster should have used “they’re,” as in “they are,” when using the Seinfeld reference. Also, when referring to “(Mikes)”, unless you were speaking about more than one Mike, you should have used an apostrophe.

The 4 guys who were sent home were totally in the wrong.
Footballs not just a bunch of dbags like us sitting around, screwing around online and getting paid for it, it’s a massive institution trying to do something extremely difficult against another massive institution. If the team needs you there at 7:55 earn your 50g’s to 1000g’s per week and fing be there, snow or no.
Adailus Thomas is crap, pretty much since day one in NE.
I hope they sit him the rest of the way and dump his ass for a 5th round rook next year. CFL for you man.
Brady us definately off his game this year, and I don’t think he’ll start this week, or maybe for a few weeks. I think he’s injured, and not letting on. After the Miami loss he was talking about next week and week came out like it was jumbled with season. Listen to the postgame.
It’s a rebuilding year, let’s see some Hoyer.
