Delhomme out, Moore to start for Panthers

Carolina quarterback Matt Moore will make his second consecutive start on Sunday when the Panthers take on the New England Patriots.

Steve Reed of CarolinaGrowl.com reports that Panthers coach John Fox made the widely expected announcement today. Delhomme missed his third straight day of practice with a broken finger on his throwing hand and still struggles to grip the ball. A.J. Feeley will be the No. 2 quarterback behind Moore.

Moore completed 14 of 20 passes for 161 yards, no touchdowns and one interception last week in the Panthers’ 16-6 victory over the Buccaneers. It’s probably safe to say he’s going to have to play better than that for the Panthers to beat the Patriots.

Panthers defensive end Tyler Brayton will also miss the Patriots game because of a concussion. Running backs DeAngelo Williams (ankle) and Jonathan Stewart (Achilles) are listed as probable.
