Westbrook to miss another game

The Philadelphia Eagles have confirmed that Brian Westbrook will miss at least one more game as a result of his second concussion of the season, ruling him out for Sunday night’s game against the Giants.

The news comes hours after Eagles coach Andy Reid said he was concerned about Westbrook’s post-NFL life. Westbrook himself has said he’s worried about the long-term effects of concussions and whether concussions will end his career.

Westbrook has played in six games this season, carrying 47 times for 225 yards and catching 19 passes for 156 yards.

The Eagles do have some good injury news. Wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who missed last week’s game with a concussion, is listed as probable and has practiced all week, while wide receiver Jeremy Maclin returned to practice after missing time with a foot injury and wide receiver Kevin Curtis might play for the first time since Week Two.

If Jackson and Maclin play with even a hint of Kevin Curtis, the Eagle swill win by 21.

I think Westbrook might be done. Maybe he’s got one more season in him. Maybe.

Normally when Westbrook used to be out, I’d feel like a huge hit. Now, it’s just not. His replacements do just as well. He may be done, he may not, but I’d still love to have him back and playing.

they should save him for the playoffs, then he should retire for his own good, whether or not he can still play.

I’m an Eagles fan, and I have both Westbrook and McCoy on my team. I kinda hope Westbrook doesn’t come back this year, at least until week 17. It’ll be too difficult to decide who to start.
Damn fantasy, look what you’ve done to me…

The biggest injury help isn’t even listed here… Akeem Jordan returns which will put Witherspoon back in the middle. Akeem also covers very well which should help against TE’s. With the LB picture finally looking set the defense should start playing better… I’d love to the Eagles go after Julius Peppers in the offseason though… opposite Trent Cole- what a beastly tandem.

@jan van flac – my thoughts exactly, well put. He’s had a good career and if they don’t win out in this postseason, they never will (at least this generation of the team, anyway).

Brian: Please sit out the season.

Brian Westbrook has been the heart of this team for a long time. He is one of the best professional athletes that have played in Philadelphia, in any sport. He is smart, good natured and hugely talented. I don’t want to see that he has ruined his future. He should sit back, take enough time to decide if he really wants to chance a life long disability, and then retire if he thinks there is a chance he would suffer brain damages.
This guy deserves a chance to have a future

Brian Westbrook… Thank you for your contributions as an Eagle, retire now and God Bless.

    blah blah blah blah blah
Your going not going to win big your going to whine big
The G-Men are back the 3 time SB champions are back
The only thing that makes the egirls stand out is they are the only team in the NFC East that does not have a championship
All the rest have had the glory years some far in the past some less then two years ago and then there are the sorry ass excuse for a team the Filthy egirls
All the NFC Championship games do not mean shit the only thing that matters is one game in Feb when there is only one team in the NFC left and then and only then do you egirl have the right to walk on the same turf with the rest of the east

I hope he retires – and I say that with the best intentions for him to enjoy the rest of his life.

As a Giant fan and after watching the Week 8 thrashing we took when the Eagles were without Westbrook I would say this is bad news for my G-Men…Westbrook gives the Giants someone to focus on…Now i’m afraid they will just be guessing like they were last game…Run/Pass?? McCoy, Weaver, Celek, Jackson, Maclin…A team that used to have one weapon now has five…

Hey Big Blue fan…. How did that home loss the Eagles gave the Giants in the playoffs last year feel? I bet it felt good watching that game and then going back to your home in the butthole that is North Jersey.
Do you not remember the absolute ass thrashing that the Eagles gave the Giants earlier this year?
Also nice line, calling the Eagles “egirls”. Such a lame line, sounds like something a seven year old would say. I bet you still give wet willies and tell “your momma” jokes.
Go listen to some Bon Jovi and get ready for the Eagles to beat your ass at home AGAIN.

the eagles will win this game..they are just a better team then the giants.
This is and was since the beginning of the season likely westbrook’s last with the eagles. I’ve seen a few mock drafts and the eagles are projected to look at a complimentary running back for lesean mccoy after the first round. Actually saw one where e are projected to take C.J. Spiller late in round 1. Think of that offense two great young backs.. two great young receivers.. a young great TE.. and don’t sleep on Cornelius Ingram getting healthy next year and being a big playmaker.
The NFC East will be owned by the eagles for years to come
