Comments on: Norv Turner is going to be in San Diego for a while

I as a big Chargers fan have never been big on Norv but those of you who say they will just lose right away in the playoffs obviously haven’t watched the last 2 seasons? 07 they beat the Titans 17-6 then went on to beat the defending champs Colts in Indy with no LT and Rivers also went down in that game. They eventually lost to NE in the AFC champinship who went on to win the Super Bowl. They also played that game without LT and Rivers was obviously in pain and played when most guys wouldn’t or couldn’t. Then in 08 they beat a red hot Colts team who had rattled off 9 in a row before entering the playoffs, with No LT. Then they lost to yet another Super Bowl winner Pittsburgh once again with No LT. Say what you want but I’d rather have my team hot finishing the season then the start.

Evidently you didn’t see him on the sidelines yesterday. He was anything but soft. Rivera was very vocal as well. If you could read lips, they weren’t saying have a nice day. They were fired up and emotional. Not like the over the top nonsense of a Rex Ryan.

What the hell has Shanahan done since Elway and Terrell Davis retired?
Cowher isn’t as good as everyone makes him out to be. Yeah, he won a SB, but there were plenty of questionable calls in that game.
Gruden won a SB, but that team faded fast after that.

If you are going to trash talk, at least do some research.
You need to have tall corners that can cover tall receivers. Speed isn’t the only factor to take into consideration.
The Cowboys shouldn’t have won the game. As many injuries as the Chargers have, they still beat the Cowboys.
The Chargers have a lot of injuries this year, but not at the skilled positions. That is a big difference from this year and last year, and the year before when they had injuries at the skilled positions.

I agree, aec4. The Chargers should have lost today. I can’t believe that they are on this winning streak. They aren’t as bad as their slow start, but they aren’t as good as this winning streak. I think that the Bengals have a good chance this Sunday.

much as I get a chuckle out of Norv, one can’t deny that he has the Chargers playing well when it counts most….chargers will win the west, get a bye and probably defeat the colts in the divisional round.
chargers are great in december but what happens come January….or February if they make it that far???
chargers vs vikes….certainly possible!

Is that supposed to sound insightful?
Guess there’s no “fast corners” in the NFL since
–despite having more 20+ completions
than anyone but Brees–
only Favre & Garrard have less INTs than Rivers.
Throwing the ball far downfield, yet avoiding
interceptions is about the fastest way to get a
top passer rating. No one in the NFL was within
EIGHT POINTS (!) of Rivers’ 105.5 last year.
Fast corners?!?
Next time don’t just type what your
mom says during the commercials.

Turner took over a 14-2 team 3 years ago, and hasn’t matched what Marty did with them. Sure they might get a bye, but they also play in a pretty weak division.
Don’t forget that Norv always chokes in the playoffs. I don’t understand the logic behind this. Why give him an extension now instead of waiting to see what they do in the playoffs.
What happens if they get beat in their first game in the playoffs?

Are you kidding me? Rivers has the second highest career passer rating in NFL history. Say what you want about the Chargers, say what you want about Norv and LT, but Rivers is clearly an elite quarterback.
