Jekyll-and-Hyde Cardinals are getting clobbered

Last week, the Cardinals made a statement against the Vikings in prime time, building a 20-point lead against the previously 10-1 Vikings.

This week, they’re making another kind of statement against San Francisco, trailing 17-0 at halftime.

The deficit has been fueled by five first-half turnovers, including two ugly interceptions from quarterback Kurt Warner and a fumble.

For the 49ers, running back Frank Gore has 104 yards rushing on thirteen carries, and quarterback Alex Smith has completed 15 of 26 passes for 112 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

Rookie receiver Michael Crabtree has four catches for 61 yards and one of the scores.

The only negative regarding the Niners is that their lead could be larger — and that the Cardinals have the skills to wipe out that deficit quickly.

49ers are back! Unfortunately their probably 1 game short of making the playoffs this year but if you watch this team week to week you can seem them growing right before your eyes!

I’ve never been so disgustingly frustrated with the Cardinals as I am now. The Cardinals look absolutely nothing like they did last week.
But then again last year they had a similarly ugly showing and changed that seemingly, “nail in the coffin” into a Super Bowl appearance.

    And I’m enjoying this.

Just goes to show that the Vikings had a little hiccup last week against the Cards. The Vikings could play Arizona 10 times and out of those 10 times, they would win 8 of them.
What happens after that loss? We go on to crush a very good Cincy team while the Cards have 5 turnovers in the first half alone and are down by 17. Just shows who the better team is, its the Vikings.

    @ epping16
Considering they just lost to the sorry Seahawks, I’m not sure I’d make that statement juuuuust yet, especially against a divisional opponent.

Warner is not Healthy if I was the NFL I would be calling the Cardinals at half time and telling them to get him out of the game right now. Its Monday night so you know congress members are watching the game and if Im thinking Warner is still effected by the concussion then they deffently are.
If Westbrook plays next week like Warner is tonight I hope Andy Reid has the good sense to get him out of there. All the good work the NFL has done over the past 8 weeks might be ruined if the Cardinals allow Warner to keep playing.
Everyone has been extra careful sense concussions were brought up by the goverment. Even if Warner isnt playing bad b/c of concussions he still shouldnt be playing. Because the perception of the average fan will be that he is still hurt and that the Cardinals are letting him play.

  7. the bigdawg says: Dec 14, 2009 10:32 PM

growing week by week? are we talking about the same 49ers that started the year 3-1 and then lost their next 6 out of 8?

  8. capo billionair says: Dec 14, 2009 10:34 PM

Mike crabtree. I’ve been a fan since the texas miracle catch..hopefully he those sure hands can translate in the nfl…I’m a underdog team kind of guy and I’m hoping the 49ers can make a run…
But either way this game is entertaining…

Prediction… Florio cuts and pastes all of his vikes bashing articles from last tuesday to saturday and inserts the cards

  10. Route36West says: Dec 14, 2009 10:37 PM

Well they might have just lost the skills b/c it looks like Fitz is hurt.

hey Favre lover…we shoulda beat you too….Keep jumpin on the bandwagon of guys you hated the year before! Stay classy Minnesota!

  13. BradyGazelle says: Dec 14, 2009 10:38 PM

Yeah – the Cardinals are toast. Boldin has quit on the team and now Fitzgerald is hurt.

  14. Postman says: Dec 14, 2009 10:38 PM

    No Vikes-N-Favre.
The Cardinals completely embarrassed and outplayed Minnesota. Tonight’s name doesn’t change the fact that the Cards own the Vikings.

49ers just have Cards #. Same way Cards had Vikings #.
Vikes might win 8 out of 10, too bad the Cards second win is going to be in January.

    V-N-F,
What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this blog is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Madden curse has finally caught up to Larry Fitzgerald . . . just 1 catch too late to put me in my fantasy league’s playoffs.

Vikes fans, we need not makes excuses for our team. 11-2 speaks for its self. We gave ourselves enough of a cushion that we could have a game like that.
No real Viking fans took that loss to heart, certainly not the 35,000 of us at the game.

Child please! The Vikings are the most overrated team in the NFL.
Turnovers, penalties and just sloppy overall play by the Cards.

  21. lamename says: Dec 14, 2009 10:50 PM

How does the fact that Fitzgerald fought off two defenders to come down with that ball before he was down (at which point he was stripped) translate into an incomplete pass? It is the single most galling aspect of watching the game for me, over the last few years.
Not that it matters, now … five turnovers, sheeesh.

  22. Bob S. says: Dec 14, 2009 10:54 PM

you want to win like sf does tonite- doesnt always work but you pressure the qb with blitzes with your front four
you want to lose like giants coughlin/sheridan did last night you give mcnabb all day

  23. NashvilleSeahawk says: Dec 14, 2009 10:58 PM

Thanks Florio. You’re probably the only national media guy that realizes that they actually have football on the west coast.
Bob S. – What’s really pathetic is that you don’t even know how to spell Seattle. Now go to bed before your mother catches you on the computer. Idiot.

You win the “Rationalization Of The Year” award!
Yeah, the better team is the one that lost. Badly. Got it.

  25. mnmaverick says: Dec 14, 2009 11:00 PM

Minnesota was back with a healthy offensive line and Antoine Winfield who missed six games. That was the difference for the Vikings. They weren’t healthy.

  26. thepest94510 says: Dec 14, 2009 11:09 PM

In the first quarter Kurt Warner threw into triple coverage to Larry Fitz (the play where he landed just before the endzone). The officials ruled it an incomplete pass, but Arizona challenged the call on the field.
After watching the replay 2 things were clear: during the entire play, the football NEVER touched the ground; and, in the midst of a jostle for the ball, a niner player ended up with possession of the ball.
    Question:
After the official replay, the play was ruled an incomplete pass. How is this an incomplete pass when the football never made contact with the ground? The ball was clearly never incomplete… the ruling on the field should either be a catch by Larry Fitz or an interception by the Niners.
I can only think of one reason behind the conclusion of the play. Because the call on the field was upheld after review, it is safe to say, in the officials opinion, Larry never had complete control of the ball (so Niners ball right?). But the red flag came from Arizona’s sideline, therefore the official couldn’t rule that the play was intercepted by the Niners.
Isnt the purpose of the of reviews to get the call right? Does it matter who challenges? Should it matter?

CLOBBERED??? These Jekyl and Hyde Cards will come very close or even make the Super Bowl again!! They have too much talent!! While Tomlin already has a ring Wisenhunt will PROVE to be a better coach in the long run and Mike Tomlin will no doubt PULL a Gruden at some point in Pittsburgh! Wait and see!!

I don’t get Viking fans at all.
They’re trying to use this AZ vs 49er game as evidence that the Vikings are better than the Cards (and maybe they are) because the Cardinals are losing.
Yet they seem to have selective memory that it took a last second play to beat the same 49ers team…at HOME.

  29. Bobby McShanklebee says: Dec 14, 2009 11:30 PM

God I love Vikings fans. I find it funny how they keep coming on other teams pages and talking themselves up. First it was during the Saints-Pats game saying they would beat NO now they are putting down a Cardinals team who handed them their ass. All I have to say to Vikes fans is you better hope they don’t get behind anybody in the playoffs because just like the AZ game Favre will start chucking up INTs to evrybody

I once heard Vikings fans were whinny baby’s, now i know it for sure. Yall got beat, take it. I don’t want to hear about one or two players being hurt, play the game and shut up or leave. Congrats to the cards for winning the Viking game.

    @Mike …
Okay, we’ll wait and see. I wish Whis all good things, but Tomlin is a talented coach and time will prove that. In the meantime, to the Card fans that were razzing us for our eight sacks against the Browns … well, at least while we were getting all those sacks, we weren’t gift-wrapping the ball a half-dozen times, too.

  35. employer says: Dec 15, 2009 12:28 AM

    Same streaky cardinals team.
They have a tendency to play extremely shitty football or waaaayyy over their heads.
    Theirs no consistency.
Last years run was an aberration.
As Warner goes so go the cards.
I really like Wisenhunt, but his teams play some of the weirdest football I’ve ever seen. If they’re not shredding you they’re falling on their asses.
It’s friggin’ like watching Sybil out there.
    No threat here.

Don’t worry about Viking fans then if you don’t get them. Worry about you and your Packers. Things Vikings fans may not make sense to you, but I’m sure you aren’t all that objective when it come to your team either. The Packers lost to Tampa, does that make the Packers team a bad team?
