Vince Young is day-to-day with hamstring injury

Last week, Titans quarterback Vince Young injured his right knee.  This week, he tweaked his right hamstring at the end of a 44-yard run.

Young said Wednesday that test results on the injured muscle were “good,” per Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

“He’ll be day to day and we’ll see how he is Wednesday,” coach Jeff Fisher said, per Wyatt.  “We haven’t ruled
him out for the game.  I classify it as a mild
hamstring. . . .  We want him to practice.  We want him to play.  It is Monday
and the MRI was good.  We’ll take it from there.”

The Titans host the Dolphins Sunday in what essentially is a knockout game for the AFC wild-card race.

Still, beyond whether Young is able to play, he needs to be more careful when running with the ball.  He should strive to avoid contact, to realize when he needs to go out of bounds, and to understand that he’s not Mike Vick and can’t blaze past everyone effortlessly.

The sooner Young embraces that, the less frequently he’ll be injured, and the better off he’ll be.

Florio- Stop watching Sports Center, go and eat an Oreo, and then write these ill informed articles. If you were at the game yesterday or did anykind of research, you would have known that he ran 44 yards and headed for the sidelines without being touched. With your phliosophy, he would have gotten 9 yrds for the first and then ran out of bounds!!!!

Young has definitely been much more cautious this year with his running game. I didn’t see the Rams game, but didn’t he run out of bounds at the end of that 44 yard run play? I didn’t think he got hit – my understanding was that he had not been able to work out and stretch as much as usual the week leading up to the St. Louis game due to the knee injury, and the strain was mainly due to that.
Regarding “… he needs to understand that he’s not Mike Vick and can’t blaze past everyone effortlessly” – it seems to me that the problem is exactly the opposite ! :-)
He CAN usually blaze past everyone effortlessly, but needs to throttle himself and just be more careful when those opportunities arise. Bottom line is that he is becoming more of a (highly mobile) pocket passer quarterback and will hopefully continue to do so. He has a great arm, they need to develop their receivers to take advantage of it to complement what is shaping up to be a scary good running offense.

    Day to day
    Day to day
    Oh Dear Lord
    Three things Vince Young prays
To see read defenses more clearly
    Hold the ball more dearly
    Avoid contact less nearly
    Day to day

Wow Florio … looks like you put your foot in your mouth in this article . How many hits has VY taken when rushing this year ? It might really surprise you …He is what Mike Vick wanted to be , and yet VY is getting better and the other aforementioned character is done advancing his skills (easier way of saying he is a washup )…Florio, appreciate your work – however you have been posting some crap lately …

florio if you watch his runs almost all of them this season he jogs out of bounds at the end. so i dont know where you get these wild ideas exactly but its a little ridiculous. and please stop putting vick and vy in the same article. vy is so much better of a quarterback than vick ever was, not to mention what he is now.
its an insult to vy to make that comparison.

I agree that Florio is just writing out of thin air. The injury isn’t that big of a deal and why would he go back in to play when the Titans were well on their way to a blow-out?
He’ll start against Miami and he & CJ will be their usual spectacular selves. Henne & Ricky? Not so much.

    Vick is a washup.
Bashed Vince before but he is actually developing into a throwing QB and he is not running after his first option is not available, like Vick does.

Florio: I would post a scathing comment, but the topic (& subsequent errors in your statement) has been adddressed.
You should post an apology for being a dumbass.
Maybe you should strive to avoid contact on your way to the fridge to grab another chicken pot pie……..

Dumbass, avoiding contact wouldn’t prevent a strained hamstring anyway.
As many others have pointed out, Young wasn’t touched on the play and there were no defenders near him. Ever.
He probably could’ve gotten another 10 yards if he hadn’t pulled up lame.
