Babineux admitted to smoking pot, eventually

Some details have emerged regarding last week’s arrest of Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux, who was busted for among other things possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

According to Jeff Schulz of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the police indicates that Babineaux lied to police on multiple occasions at the time he was pulled over.

The details are right here.  The gist of the story is that Babineaux eventually admitted to smoking pot.

So regardless of whether Babineaux is convicted or pleads guilty to the pending charges, the fact that he admitted marijuana use will get the league very interested in the situation.

What? I thought he said none of the charges were true? I’m shocked. For a second I thought the man really was just trying to keep him down. Guess not.

    – After marijuana was found in a backpack in the car, Babineaux was asked if he had smoked some. He said no. Problem was that his friend, Robinson told police that Babineaux had smoked β€œat least two or three times.” Busted. Babineaux then admitted what, again, police already knew.
Probably be knocked down to simple possession. 4 ounces in 3 separate bags is enough to warrant intent to distribute, but it is also small enough to claim personal use.
Imagine league’s punishment will be much worse than anything the criminal justice system gives him.

So how are we exactly going to “see that this isn’t true” when the guy has already admitted to the cops that he was sparking up?
First class retard; read the link. He should never have been allowed to play Sunday if he admitted smoking dope to the cops. Presumption of inocence stops at a confession.

What’s wrong with smoking marijuana (besides the fact that it’s illegal in our country, in some places)? For real though, can someone answer me, what’s wrong with it?

  9. YUHaiwing says: Dec 15, 2009 10:42 PM

Kind of funny, marijuana is way less harmful than alcohol and the NFL doesn’t care at all about that. How many NFL players get drunk and do stupid things and get arrested? On marijuana you’re just silly, or do nothing at all. I understand cocaine and all the other drugs, but marijuana’s pretty tame, really.

Smoking weed is HORRIBLE people! Dont you get it that if you use weed you could end up with symptoms like 14 Olympic Gold Medals, Six NBA MVP Awards or even worse having back to back Cy Young Trophies in your house!!! Smarten up people… geez

But I thought he said he was “innocent?” What a joke. Dude, you got caught burning a J….who cares….except for the face that you were driving with over an OZ in your car! That is an EPIC fail!

    Bring on the “Just-Legalize-It” morons.
This is ridiculous, a 27-28-year old buffoon that can’t wait 2-3 more years until he is out of the NFL to smoke all the marijuana he wants to with his homie (whom he blamed it all on, and the homie blamed it all on him, no honor among weeds, eh?). But no, he can’t freaking wait… that’s called stupidity… one of the many side-effects of long-term pot use.

  16. MrNatural says: Dec 15, 2009 11:21 PM

The sad part is that the NFL openly endorses alcohol consumption and the team-physician, prescribed use of dangerous narcotics to deal with injuries and stress.
Marijuana is a non-toxic herb and no one has ever died from overdose nor became violent because of it’s effects.
I applaud Ricky Williams, Mark Stepnoski and other NFL players who chose to use marijuana, be it medicinally or recreational.
Have another cocktail of instant hypocrite, King Roger.

  18. MitchBergerSaysKissTheRingBitch says: Dec 15, 2009 11:41 PM

Big deal. Let him blaze. The guy has one of the most physically demanding jobs in the world. He probably wakes up every day feeling like he was hit by a bus. It’s better he hits the peace pipe than become addicted to pain killers. How he chooses to relax on his off days is really no ones business. I hope the NFL doesn’t suspend him but they will.

  25. downsouth49er says: Dec 16, 2009 2:25 AM

Legalize pot already and be done with this bullcrap. I’m not a smoker by any means, rather cigs, pot or whatever, but leave those who do alone already. Quit trying to arrest them or ban smoking in this place or that place, or raising the taxes on cigs. I drink from time to time and no one is raising the taxes on my drinks, and I’m willing to bet that having a drinking habit is just as bad as being a heavy smoker. The government frowns on prostitution but yet we have the porn industry. Wowww what is the difference? One act is done in a car with no camera, while the other is done in a hotel room with camera and distributed to the public. It’s a joke, anything the government can tax without public uproar is fine, but anything that is subject to a public backlash they want to make illegal. No different than slave owners, hated black folks but loved themselves some black pu**y

zzzzzzzzz….obviously I’m not alone in finding no moral law broken by this innocuous drug. Should players/employees go “4:20” on the job. No way, it’s not fair to paying customers to get less than 100%. Other than that I couldn’t imagine dealing with the punishment they receive and living with out it….just sayin

You’re no more right about your view than they are about theirs… But I’m sure that won’t keep you from writing off anyone who doesn’t see something exactly as you do as a “moron”.

Politicians love drinking booze and smoking tobacco, but they don’t like smoking pot. That is why alcohol and tobacco are legal and pot isn’t.

To anyone who says “big deal, he was smoking some dope”:
How do you feel about someone getting behind the wheel of a car and drinking while he was driving? Is that okay with you? Let’s count the raised hands that say “sure, no problem”.
NO ONE supports the idea of a person getting behind the wheel of a car and busting open a fifth of hooch. Yet there’s Babineux sparking one up WHILE BEHIND THE WHEEL OF HIS CAR!
You can minimize smoking dope, fine, but you can’t say it doesn’t impair your driving.
He may have been breaking the law by possessing Marijuana. He may have been breaking NFL rules by using a banned (illegal) substance. He may have been an idiot for jeopardizing a lucrative career in his quest to get high. But the worst offense this jackass did was to light up a fatty and get stoned WHILE HE WAS DRIVING!!!!!
Babineux is a moron for being that stupid, and anyone who says he did nothing wrong is looking at the wrong problem. I don’t care if his body “takes a pounding” all week long for months on end. Don’t get high while on the road and risk MY LIFE on your quest for a little “relief”, liquid OR herbal.

I never get stopped while driving I CAN’T Find MY CAR, do I have a car mon I don’t know.

  37. K-RoQ Smash says: Dec 16, 2009 11:00 AM

If you are going to smoke pot in the car, don’t do anything that might get you pulled over. That includes speeding, going through stop signs, littering, DRIVING WITH EXPIRED PLATES, and HAVING SUPER-TINTED WINDOWS. For Jeebus’ sake, you don’t want to give the cops an excuse to pull you over!
For years, I used to smoke in the car ALMOST every single day, no exaggeration. Stupid? Yes, but I NEVER got pulled over (while I was driving, anyway). I didn’t need tinted windows, either.
Obey simple traffic laws and you can do whatever you want in the car.

I have over 3 Million safe road miles in my life.I smoked. But after work, and not driving down the road, because thats illegal!I would rather drive down the interstate with 1000 people smoking pot than one drunk. How many times a day do we get a news flash saying, man smokes pot kills wife and kids.or Man goes home and beats family after smoking pot!Never! But i cant count the times i have seen alcohol the cause of death in family argument.Or man smoking joint causes 30 car pile up on interstate.Lets get real with this if we are going to talk about it!
