Big talk from Roy Williams as Saints game approaches

The Dallas Cowboys are hoping to reverse their recent December fortunes against the undefeated New Orleans Saints on Saturday. But as tough a challenge as the Saints will be, Dallas wide receiver Roy Williams had plenty to say today about how much he likes the Cowboys’ chances.

“If we pack our bags and show up in New Orleans on Saturday night,” Williams tells Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com, “we should be victorious.”

The Saints are favored by a touchdown, but Williams mocked the idea that the Cowboys can’t beat them.

“Might as well crown them, right?” Williams said sarcastically. “They’re undefeated. It’s December. We don’t have a chance.”

Williams also said he thinks the Cowboys will play the Saints again in the playoffs, and Saturday’s game is just a prelude to that.

“This is a two-round fight, and this is just the first round, in my eyes,” Williams said. “I don’t know about everybody else, but I think we’re going to see this team in the playoffs down the road.”

Hey Roy, until you earn that paycheck shut your damn mouth. You don’t hear Miles Austin ever running his mouth and he is 10 times better than you.

I can’t believe someone who has been such a bust is willing to make a fool out of himself by trash talkin’……..Detroit knew what they were doing when they traded Williams. He has been living off his rookie year for quite a few years now.

Im surprised there’s no Vikings fan responses on here saying how awesome their team is and how they would beat the Saints. But seriously look at the posts here on PFT look how many vikings fans say how good they are and not even on vikings related articles……its pathetic. But what is really crazy is the fact that I have not seen one post from a Saints or Colts fan talking sh*t about their team when they’re the ones undefeated! But you’ll see those vikings posts all day because you know they won 11 REGULAR season games, great job vikes you always be remembered for your regular season greatness

FACT- Drew brees does not have a “elite wr”
FACT-Tony Romo does have “elite wr” (or at least thats the way the cowboys paid ol roy e williams)
FACT-Drew brees turns mediocre players into great ones—colston, meacham, henderson…etc.
FACT-Tony Romo tries to turn mediocre players into great ones Miles Austin (Sucess), Pat Crayton (Fail), Sam Hurd (Fail-Remeber the Denver game! Twice to Hurd against Bailey)
    FACT-both have an elite TE
FACT-both have a solid run game
FACT-both have a solid defense ( i will give the nod to the saints this year)
    FACT-Saints have a good owner
FACT-Cowboys have an owner that will pay toget whatever player they want.
FACT-Sean Payton controls himself and is a respectable human being.
FACT-Wade Phillips is a fat slob who is a terrible head coach who was given enoromous amounts of talent that he did not put together and somehow always looks like someone stole his favorite maple bar whenever the cowboys lose. On the flip side of that he looks like someone just gave him his favorite maple bar after they beat the Chiefs. Maybe he thought they were the chefs and they cooked him one for the victory.
    FACT-Saints 13-0
    FACT-COWBOYS 8-5
FACT-Saturday will be a massacre just like it was back in 06. Remember that game ol Cowgirl fans?
Last post on cowboys got a lot of neg feedback for not having any facts in it. Just wanted to make sure this one had plenty of facts.

So I take it they haven’t yet decided if they will even be in the Superdome Saturday night? I haven’t heard any news of a potential forfeit.
I also find it hilarious they think they would see the Saints in the playoffs. The Saints have a bye, which requires the Cowboys to win a playoff game to even have the opportunity. Their last playoff win was under a coach whose been retired for 12 years.

Thats a very good point. I never really thought about it but I cant remember a single time I have seen a Saints fan comment anything other that “Who Dat.” Viking fans might be up there with Cowboy and Patriot fans. The worst in my mind are the Raider fans. Find any comment by ‘Raiderchile’ just look in the Niner posts. Raiders fans say the stupidest things and their team is awful.
On a semi-related topic, here are some things that people need to stop saying on PFT or any where:
Drinking the cool aid – What ever moron first made this joke maybe got some laughs out of it, now it just makes you look stupid.
Belicheat – No one hates cheating more than me, and Bill sure did cheat but this name is so tired it would be funnier to refer to him as Bill “the cheater” Belichek.
Forty Whiners, Squehawks, Vikqueens, ‘Aints ect. All those stupid nicknames aren’t funny anymore. We are all sick of them out side of the ten people that still say them.
Stay classy (random city) – we all know your city is the classiest but you not Ron Burgandy its not that funny.
    I will think of more.

Very nice selective reproting to create a controversy. Wonderful journalism from ESPN & you. You guy are tools.
You neglected to report this prt of Roy Williams interview, maybe because it doesn’t portray what you wanted to feed the knee jerk, pavlovian posters.
“If they were 12-1 going into this week it’ll still be a big game,” Williams said. “I look at this game as we’re going to play these guys, hopefully come out with a victory but we’re going to see them again. This is a two-round fight and this is just the first round, in my eyes, I don’t know about everybody else, but I think we’re going to see this team in the playoffs down the road.”

I don’t like Roy and every time he begs for the ball, he drops about 5 passes.
But nothing wrong with his attitude here. The Saints have not played particularly well lately, and needless to say, neither have the Cowboys.
But believe this, if the saints show up and play like they did against Atlanta and Atlanta’s backup team, That pressure of being undefeated will definitely be off their backs.
You guys act like he’s supposed to cower and admit defeat.#### that. Tony Dungy doesn’t play on this team.

  47. cobainlennon says: Dec 15, 2009 11:06 PM

You guys just need to re read what he said. He didn’t say anything that you wouldn’t want someone on your team to say. He wasn’t talking smack at all. He just wasn’t going to admit defeat before they played the game. Did anyone watch the Monday night game? Bad teams beat good teams all the time. I would almost be worried if I were the Saints being such big favorites. That never seems to work out.

  48. DJSlyBri says: Dec 15, 2009 11:19 PM

Roy is right. The Cowboys will win this Saturday. The Saints are struggling. I eamn, c’mon, they almost lost to Chris Redman, while the Cowboys just got unlucky in losing to the Chargers. If Marion Barber gets that half yard, they win by 4 instead of losing by 3 to the second-best team in the AFC. The Saints are way overrated, and have had a ridiculously soft schedule. They get to play the Panthers, Bucs, and Falcons twice, teams that the Cowboys owned this year. If the Cowboys had that schedule, they’d be 13-0 also.
The Cowboys will win the NFC East, get the #3 seed, and beat the Saints or Vikings in the NFC Championship. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cowboys Stadium hosts the NFC Championship Game because those two teams are frauds. The Saints are frauds that wil be exposed and they will be stopped by the Cowboys defense, just like the Cowboys shut down the Chargers, Eagles, and Packers, all supposedly so much better than the Cowboys.
    Cowboys 27 Saints 10

  50. Route36West says: Dec 16, 2009 1:05 AM

    I agree/disagree.
I do for some reason believe the Cowboys have a good shot at beating the Saints this coming Saturday night. Yes the Saints are undefeated now but that doesnt mean they beat every team in the league or could . They havent beat the Cowboys and a bunch of other teams so just b/c they havent lost to anyone yet that doesnt mean that their isnt a team out there that can beat them. I just have a feeling the Cowboys will win. Which will get all their fans and people in the media excited. They will all say “look see the Decemeber swoon means nothing this is a totally different Cowboys team”. Then they will start predicting them to win the division and make a run in the playoffs. So thats where I agree.
Where I disagree is I think Williams is out of his mind to think the Cowboys will see the Saints in the playoffs. If they do beat the Saints everyone will do what I said they would do and then the Cowboys will dissappoint all of them and collapse down the strech. I doubt the Cowboys will make the playoffs and even if they do they wont make it past the wildcard round so they will never get a rematch with the Saints. So thats where I disagree.

  51. Matt says: Dec 16, 2009 7:05 AM

has anyone else noticed that since roy williams isn’t drawing double coverage he has doubled his production and has become a good part of the offense… and austin is still getting his catches?? but not defenses can’t move coverage to just his side of the field?? oh probably not because half of you rejects on here don’t even watch football and just like to bash on teams that have a shot to make the playoffs because your team isn’t doing shit

Reel off about 20 consecutive winning seasons, a few dozen playoff victories, and multiple Super Bowls and you might indeed qualify for America’s Team status.
    Thanks for trying, though.

Wow, you are a real man calling someone you don’t know a loser over the Internet. Bravo, dude, you’re a real gift to humanity. You are exactly what’s wrong with this site.
If someone is going to claim their team is “the new America’s Team” based on overreacting to one good season, then they need a little education on what the requirements are.
Teams elligible for America’s Team status would linclude winning franchises like the Steelers, Patriots, Giants, Colts, and even 49ers. All teams with success across multiple decades and all teams with postseason and Super Bowl success.
Saints do not qualify, and will not for quite a long time.

  66. SaintsDieHard says: Dec 16, 2009 3:47 PM

    @ Bedhead
What is your definition of “Americas Team?” Most Super Bowl Wins? Well then that would be the Pittsburgh Steelers……Your 20 Consecutive seasons ENDED in 1985……..When you can name one player STILL on the Cowboys Roster that was a part of those playoff victories and Super Bowl wins THEN you can STILL qualify as Americas Team, but sorry, Yall may have been the FORMER Americas Team, but since Katrina, the Saints are the NEW Americas Team… I believe the true Definition of “Americas Team” is a team that represents America to the fullest…A team that is full of Integrity and Class, a team that has pulled an entire City and Region out of the Ruins of the Worst disaster in U.S. History, A team who’s owner takes his money and helps others, not flex his pocket book by building a money wasting Stadium that has more problems than the Team itself. A team who’s Players know how to be true professionals…..When I think of the Dallas Cowboys, I think of a Celebrity overrated QB, a Cocky Greedy Owner, Convicts, and Cry Babies……..Sorry, I’m sure in Saints fans eyes, we are Americas Team….If the Cowboys are Americas Team than I’m embarrassed to call myself American. And this has nothing to do with us playing the Cowboys this week…..I just hope we embarrass them like they have embarrassed the NFL as of late….WHO DAT!!!!!!!!

  67. Bedhead says: Dec 16, 2009 5:48 PM

    @SaintsDieHard
You are obviously not rational as everyone reading your post can readily see. WDDS–Who Dat Derangement Syndrome?
Yep, the Dallas Cowboys are in the worst decade of their existence. Longest stretch without a playoff win, yada, yada, yada. Yep, it’s not as fun as it used to be as a Cowboys fan. And yet…
    2005-2009 W-L Record: Cowboys 48-30 / Saints 42-37
Again, when you have a long track record of sustained success then you can make your case. The Cowboys did not give themselves the America’s Team title and did not ask for it. It was not given to them based on one year and it can’t be earned by the Saints with one good year. Or by you just saying it.
I guess I can’t blame you for not knowing how to act right when you’re team has success, since it’s something you’ve never experienced.

  68. Borg30 says: Dec 16, 2009 6:31 PM

Your words: “they are losers, just like YOU!!!!”
No need to call me names, man. If you can’t control yourself, then don’t post here.
Let me say it again: YEP, THE COWBOYS LAST 10 YEARS HAS BEEN PRETTY LAME OVERALL. Not up to the usual standard of success they set in previous years.
But that’s not the discussion here. What we’re talking about is some Saints fans posting here that all of a sudden, after one good season, they are now America’s Team. That’s called delusion.
Your division, the NFC South, is historically one of the worst in football and you’re the only team in it that has never been to a Super Bowl. Try establishing yourself as the best team in the division over more than one (partial) season, and then you can begin to talk.

    @bedhead,
OK, nough said, your right, I should not have called you a loser.
However, fyi, I am giants fan. I thought you were a typical cowboy fan just relying on ancient history. Your buddy vox does this all the time.

Thats funny that you say the NFC South is “historically” the worst in football when its only been in existance since 2002. Also, since its been created it is the ONLY Division in the NFL to have each team at least make it to a Conference Championship, “bad” NO, “Competitive” YES. Also last time I checked, WE CLINCHED OUR DIVISION….Only thing yall will be clinching is the REMOTE in January….And I hope the Saints are the team that helps that happen because of BITTER fans like you. You say we Saints fans dont know how to act with success, well you Cowboys fans dont know how to act with failure. Also you want to throw out Stats from 2005 – 2009, well heres one for you….LAST 5 Meetings—Saints -5 Wins – Cowboys -0 …Looks like we gotta 5 game winning streak going here, Will it be a 6th Saturday? We shall see…..I like our chances. Hey and get used to failure cause as long as you have THAT Qb and THAT Wr and THAT Head Coach and THAT Owner and THAT SORE LOSER FLOZELL ADAMS, etc.. etc.. Yall shall continue your journey down the toilet. Believe Me we’ve been there and it stinks…..WHO DAT!
