Chiefs chasing another sellout

Last week, the Kansas City Chiefs found a way to move the last remaining 3,500 tickets to avoid the first non-sellout of Arrowhead Stadium since 1990.

This week, the task will be a bit taller.  As of yesterday, 5,500 tickets remained for Sunday’s home finale against the Browns.

Per league rules, all non-premium tickets must be sold to permit the game to be televised in the Kansas City area.

All the talk you have done about blackouts on this site, do you really think it is necessary to explain what happens if the game is not sold out?
Yes, there are new people each day, but come on. We are not 3 year olds (cept maybe vox, bob nelson, et all).
Any football fan already knows the ramifications of a non sell out game……sheesh

That’s pretty sad that Chiefs fans are so down on their team they dont even wanna watch them play the Browns. You’d think that game would sell out quick from fans who wanna see a legit shot at a win. Doesn’t matter, Cleveland is going to beat them…the $60 million highschool starting QB the Chiefs got isn’t doing so hot.

    Wrong Florio !
Teams do NOT have to sell all the non premi seats, the only thing they HAVE to do is pay the visiting team what ever 50% of the gate would be for a sell out, then a black out is lifted.
So all that F’n Hog Farmer Hunt has to do is, pry open his ck book and pen the browns a ck.
I promise you that’s what happened last week.

Pay the visiting team? I was under the impression that teams could buy tickets and donate them, about 17000 tickets per season.

  9. Dr.Drew says: Dec 16, 2009 12:45 PM

    Good luck Chiefs!

    heartstl,
The league doesn’t give a damn how any one team does it, so long as the opposing team gets it’s money.
I was just pointing out that teams do not have to go through all the fallacy of selling the tickets, the only absolute is that the home team has to pay the visiting team it’s 50%.

    hey, CowboysFever
What do the Chiefs and Cowboys have in common? Neither team can win in December. I would however place odds on the Chiefs winning in December before the Cowboys do.
As for not selling out Arrowhead. You can’t blame the fans for not wanting to pay to go and watch a bad product on the field. Better times will come the Chiefs way in future years. Good organization, great fan base, and a lot of young players with promise.

There probably aren’t going to be 5500 people who want to watch this game on TV, so I don’t see what the problem is.
