Lions part ways with Terrelle Smith

On Sunday, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs claims that, on the second play from scrimmage during Baltimore’s Week 14 game against the Lions, fullback Terrelle Smith targeted Suggs’ injured knee.

Per a league source, the Lions waived Smith on Wednesday.

It’s unknown whether there’s a connection between Suggs’ claim and the decision to part ways with Smith.

Smith signed with the Lions as a free agent in the offseason.  He had spent 2007 and 2008 with the Cardinals.  Previously, he played for the Saints and the Browns.

I am really getting tired of listening to Terrell Suggs having the balls to whine about someone trying to take out HIS knees. If it were anyone else in the league, I’d give a crap.
Hey Suggs, Tom Brady wants to know how it feels to have some a$$clown take a cheap shot at your knees?

  2. bearsrule says: Dec 16, 2009 8:25 PM

Maybe Suggs should go after him with a gallon of bleach. Preferably when he’s holding a small child. That’ll teach ‘em.

here comes Florio…stirrin’ up a story!

Wow, how bad does a player have to be to be dumped by the Lions. Ouch, is it possible to be put on IR for a bruised ego??

Dude, Rich you are a complete idiot. Suggs was blocked from behind and grazed Brady’s precious thigh. In fact it was so ridiculous that bang cartoon made a skit about it. I’ll be sure to post it for you but in the mean time, I hate your face.

    @ Richm2256 -
Ummm, Suggs didn’t even come close to taking out Tom Brady’s knees. If I remember correctly, Brady’s knees were already on the ground that play…while he was blowing the referee to get a flag. That was some of the most blatant manipulation of an official I have ever seen in a football game. He complained that a guy got blocked into an area that was near his feet and got a flag thrown for ‘roughing the passer’. Ridiculous.

    Tom Brady Quinn?

  8. straightup says: Dec 16, 2009 8:55 PM

Maybe the Saints can sign him. We need a fullback.

    Zeppelin/Bmored:
Try watching that play again, morons. Suggs was NOT “blocked into” Brady’s knee. Try knowing what the hell you’re talking about before you post.
Manipulation my a$$, Suggs was making a direct shot for that knee, the one that cost Brady a lost season the year before. The only reason he didn’t wipe out Brady’s knee is because Brady saw him coming at the last second and lifted his leg.

Suggs is a thug, a lame-a$$, and a whiner and complainer. And he’s a dirty rotten hypocrite.
What do you think people are taking shots at HIS knees for?????

Maybe they waived him because he sucks.

  11. PerryMason says: Dec 16, 2009 9:31 PM

Traditionally the Lions have always had at least one cheap shot artist on the team. The old timers here know what I’m talking about.

Detroit is just doing exactly what every bad team with no depth should be doing this time of year – constantly turning over the bottom 10 of their roster (or in their case, bottom 43), trying to find young talent that sticks.

Wow thanks for posting a video to prove our point. I’ve seen it a million times but I was too lazy to find it and post. Now everyone can be the judge. Watch as 67 trips him and grabs his arm. This was the easiest argument I’ve ever had on this site. You suck at life.

LOL, how as Suggs blocked into Brady? Dude is obviously a hypocrite and a baby!

Look at all the pissy Steeler fans spewing hate whenever a Raven thread appears. Good luck with Mike Tomlin, guys turning out to be a genius. But at least the Steeler fans have “unleashed hell” on message boards. Tough guys hiding behind the internet!

“Watch as 67 trips him and grabs his arm.”
Wait a minute; first you said Suggs was “blocked from behind” and now you’re saying someone “grabbed his arm”???
    Which one is it?
And who the hell fallls because someone “grabbed” their arm? Try watching that clip for what it IS and not with your Ravens blinders on. Suggs DOVE for those knees, the announcers saw it and the ref clearly saw it, he was already throwing the flag

  18. Hooj says: Dec 16, 2009 10:01 PM

Terelle Smith? More like Terrible Smith…..am i right??
guy sounds like a prototypical Steeler.

What happened to Ray’s comments… “He’s a man… just like me. Let us decide it on the field of battle”.
They can suck and blow with the best of’em

  21. JimmySmith says: Dec 16, 2009 10:16 PM

Maybe Suggs will go to jail on the bleach charge and then he will wish it were his knees that everyone in prison is targeting.
Do all the Ravens complain like this?

Well I guess we’ll agree to disagree because I know that 3/4 of America agreed with me that week except ones in the New England area. Including an ex-Patriot. And the fact you say the ref was “reaching for his flag” before Brady cried for it tells me I may not be the only one with blinders on.

I guess we will see another Pats or Cards retred in KC soon. We cut any good players we have from the old regime only to pick up players that Pioli’s Patsand Haley’s Cards don’t want anymore. Can we please quit eating out of the Pats/Cards dumpster?

  24. Desertman says: Dec 16, 2009 10:48 PM

i might be wrong about this:
    T. Smith = Arizona State
    T. Suggs = Arizona State
No, just would not happen. ASU alum hang together.

All you idiots that don’t think someone coming after your knees is a violation are exactly what I just said, idiots. How about someone hits you in the knee and you tear your ACL, PCL, MCL, meniscus or something. These types of things end careers every single year. If smith targeted his knee, he should have been given his walking papers. In football, you never ever try to deliberately hurt someone. It makes you look bad and the team and the Lions at this point, look bad enough.

Hysterical stillerfans. These broads get more rag-rage the further they sink in the standings. Change your pad, cellar-dwellars..oh, and give our regards to your new daddies the cleveland clowns while you’re down there!
