Panthers could host another Sunday night game

Who says a losing record doesn’t make a team an attractive option for Sunday Night Football?

This week, the Panthers will host the Vikings in a game that wasn’t flexed out of NBC prime time.  And Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com reports that there’s a “strong chance” the Panthers’ regular-season finale will be moved into the 8:30 p.m. ET slot.

Why?  Because they host the Saints.

For Week 17, no game tentatively is scheduled to start on Sunday night, and no games may be protected by CBS or FOX from being moved into the prime-time position.

And with the league and NBC permitted by rule to wait until the completion of Week 16 to pick the Week 17 evening game, a decision won’t have to be made until it’s known that the Saints would be 15-0 entering the final weekend of the season.

Other possible games for the evening slot, based on the outcome of the next two weekends, include Eagles at Cowboys, Patriots at Texans, Steelers at Dolphins, Bengals at Jets, and Packers at Cardinals.

  1. Speaking as a former resident of Bull Tail, North Carolina (population: several), I don’t want anybody televising the Not Ready For Prime Time Panthers.

  2. Packers-Cardinals will only work if both teams are playing for something. Since there is a strong possibillity that both team will play each other in the first round of the playoffs I doubt the Cards will show the Packers anything but the basics in week 17 unless they really need to win.

  3. I don’t want to see a blowout, even if it’s a perfect season blowout.
Vikings/Giants could also be a possibility, depending on the next couple weeks (or are one of those teams running up against the prime time max?).

  4. they need to show eagles/cowboys in primetime for week 17. what a way to end another season than to watch the cowboys get humiliated on national tv 2 years in a row?

  5. I believe the Eagles/Dallas game is a game FOX has chosen to own the rights to. I dont believe it will be “flexed” off of Fox

  6. Think Rick Flair will be there? I went to Charlotte for a game last year and he sat 4 rows in front of us.
    Woooooooooooooooo !
Nothing says entertainment like a redfaced Jeff Lugie was at Philly when Dallas opened a can and made patties at TheLINC.

Ummm…. Doesn’t this part of the article cover that?

  8. They’re not picking the Packers @ Cards because the Cards will make the Gay Bay Man Packers look like the bitches they are. How have the Man Packers done this season against good teams (9+ wins)? Not too well huh??

Shouldn’t you be coloring in your Barney coloring book or something? because the internet is not for unintelligent, fairweather jackasses like yourself.

Unintelligent? How have the packers done against teams with 9+ wins? Not so well. Did your DUMB ass think that maybe the name “THEpackersAREwhere?” may not be the name of a packer fan? Maybe it is the name of somebody that is not a fairweather fan of the packers because they are a fan of the suffering and loses that the packers go through. You are a typical packer fan… sacrasm goes right over your head for two reasons…
    1. you dont understand it.
    2. your head is in some guys lap so it doesnt have to get too high off the ground to get over your head.
