Bears might not make it to Baltimore until Sunday

It’s a good thing that the Bears-Ravens game already has been moved to 4:15 p.m. ET on Sunday.

As it turns out, the Bears might not have made it to town for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the team boarded its 10:30 p.m. CT flight on Friday night and sat there for two hours before the trip was canceled due to the Baltimore-area blizzard.

“We won’t know until later [Saturday] when we will get out,” Bears
spokesperson Scott Hagel told Biggs.  “They have plans and meetings later this
morning to see what the Maryland situation looks like.  We’re trying to
find whatever window we can to get out.”

A source with knowledge of the situation describes as “doubtful” the possibility that the window will open at any point on Saturday, and that the more likely outcome is that the Bears will fly to Baltimore on Sunday morning.

In other words, take the Ravens and give the points.  For amusement purposes only.

Another reason to FIRE Lovie Smith. My 6 yr old realized it was going to snow, so I am pretty sure an NFL team should know. They should have come in early Friday and why the hell would you wait. Poorly run organization.

Somewhere Cutler is sulking over this.

  3. rjgreen3 says: Dec 19, 2009 9:48 AM

We need a win and will take them anyway we can get them. If the Ravens were trying to get into Chicago under the same circumstances the LEAGUE and commissioner GOOFBALL just might move the game back up to 1:00pm

It’s the Bears, does anyone really care ?

  5. bmorefan says: Dec 19, 2009 9:56 AM

Yes it is snowing bigtime here!! We are suppose to get up to 24IN of snow. Truly sucks for the Bears to get off the plane and come right to the stadium for a game. Talk about getting prepared haha :) Ravens should win this game no matter what happens…

  6. pudgalvin says: Dec 19, 2009 9:59 AM

And the first 13 games have been with ample preparation and smooth travel.
I’ll predict 29 penalties and Lovie trying to challenge the same play twice in order to use any extra timeouts.

The whole Washington-Baltimore region is under a blizzard warning (i.e. it’s a blizzard folks) until 6 p.m. tonight. The airport might not be dug out in time for them to even make it Sunday.

Brilliant, I guess no 1 thought to leave earlier then 1130 pm EST w/ a snowstorm bearing down on Baltimore calling for 2′-3′ of snow.

    Go Raaaavveeeenns!!!!!
    Buck the Fears!!!

  10. dmitch says: Dec 19, 2009 10:14 AM

The Bears could have used this excuse most of the season.
A forfeit might keep the game much closer than it would have been.
At least Cutler will have an another new excuse (snowblindness) for those picks the Ravens secondary will all be salivating over.
He is the Santa Claus DB’s wait each Sunday morning for.
What is the over/under for him tomorrow 6?

  11. homebruer says: Dec 19, 2009 10:32 AM

Can we just forfeit? 2-4-6-8-who do we appreciate? ravens, ravens…..2 more weeks until Bears golf season begins…. thats it! im going up to the belltower.

  13. Allied Biscuit says: Dec 19, 2009 10:38 AM

oh dear christ! Are you telling me they will get their on Sunday? when they play the game? sweet jesus. everybody into the shelter!
Florio, PLEASE tell us if their equipment and bags are all accounted for when they land.
in the mean time, i’m going into a corner with a pillow to shiver, rocking back and forth.

  14. BaltimoreSports says: Dec 19, 2009 10:41 AM

Might as well forfeit to Baltimore.

  15. IStateYourName says: Dec 19, 2009 11:01 AM

They won’t show up even if they show up. Season’s over. They need to improve their draft position at this point so they can pick a bigger bust than otherwise anticipated.

More Bers organization ineptness. Everyone knew the storm was coming for two days. If they would have left Fridy morning there wouldn’t have been a problem. Run up the score Ravens

  17. rjgreen3 says: Dec 19, 2009 11:10 AM

LET’S NOT GET OVER CONFIDENT!!!! I AM A RAVENS FAN; BUT HELL WE DON’T KNOW WHICH TEAM WILL SHOW UP! THE RAVENS OR the ravens!!!!!

  18. chin 2 win says: Dec 19, 2009 11:10 AM

Lovie prayed to not lose and all he got was snow! He can’t even get that right. If you’re sick of the way our team is run join BFU and be heard!

I’m watching WBAL TV 11 Baltimore & they have a reporter @ BWI & somehow flights have been coming in & out of the airport. What’s wrong w/ the Bears, afraid to fly in a little snow?? mean the big bad people of Chicago think this is a nothing storm, I mean they are calling for 2′-3′ of snow, that’s nothing to the tough guys from Chicago!

  20. NFLMMAfan says: Dec 19, 2009 11:18 AM

Are the Bears secretly owned and managed by Little Danny Snyder?
    BWA HA HA HA HA!
The Ravens brought in 70,000 workers today and tomorrow to clear the field, stands, lots/tailgate areas. And the Bears management couldn’t get the team on a plane?
    BWA HA HA HA HA!
Now they’ll land too late and realize they can’t get their equipment trunks through the roads to the stadium.
A major Buck up! Heads should roll if itys a forfeit!

Man, it’s still early Saturday. Just drive their asses there. Talk about a soft organization.

  22. lebowski says: Dec 19, 2009 11:28 AM

So Baltimore is getting buried in a blizzard? Man, Ray Rice, that place is terrible.

  23. lionelhutzlives says: Dec 19, 2009 11:29 AM

…the Chicago radio stations are reporting the reason the Bears didn’t leave on time was due to “mechanical trouble” with the plane…then it became too late to take off due to the weather…
…you can take that info for what it’s worth…

  24. tleg81 says: Dec 19, 2009 11:36 AM

They are freaking Professionals that get paid tons of money to be prepared under any circumstance……correct me if I am wrong but does a later plane flight really equate to a sure-fire loss…..if it does they all should return their paychecks……Just take a freaking nap, get off the plane, go the the stadium, get your stuff on and go play the game the same way as if you woke up in Baltimore…….its not like they are crossing over 3 time zones!!

  25. Kige Ramsey says: Dec 19, 2009 11:59 AM

Why don’t they move the game out of Baltimore and to Monday Night

  26. Favre On HGH says: Dec 19, 2009 12:08 PM

Don’t think anyone will miss them if they didn’t show.
Put the Ravens practice squad in Bears uniforms and let em try.

  27. MSWRavens says: Dec 19, 2009 12:56 PM

“mechanical trouble”? …and no one thought “man, if we can’t get this fixed quick we won’t be able to get outta here…lets find another plane just in case!” It’s a major frickin city in the midst of a recession…I’m sure there would have been some charters available!

We have snow storms here in Chicago all the time.
It seems that a lot of pussies live on the East coast because every time it snows or rains they act like balls of fire are falling from the sky.
    Man up Nancy.

  32. mercedesta81 says: Dec 19, 2009 4:28 PM

Yes, you may have snowstorms as we do every year, but our team has enough sense to leave a few days before a blizzard is coming in, as reported all week long.
