Eagles-49ers game moved to 4:15 ET

The Saturday snow storm on the East Coast continues to wreak havoc with Sunday’s schedule.

The latest disruption comes in Philadelphia, where the Eagles and 49ers game has been pushed back to 4:15 ET from 1 ET according to the Twitter account of NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy.

The extra time will allow city and stadium workers more time to clear snow.  The storm is expected to wrap up by Sunday morning.  Then again, it was supposed to have started by now here in New York. (Our Philly correspondent says the blizzard has started there.)

The new start time in Philadelphia leaves one less intriguing game at 1ET.  Miami-Tennessee is the only matchup of the early six games to feature two teams with legitimate playoff hopes.  Sorry Falcons fans, we’ve given up on your team.

With Ravens-Bears already having been moved to 4:15 ET, there are six late afternoon games.

Its not THAT BAD here in Philly. We have approximately 5″ of snow at this point. When did everyone in this country become gigantic vaginas about EVERYTHING?

Andy Reid will still try to throw it 40 times.
    49ers chances are improving.

The game time changed earlier in the week, didn’t it?

It’s a safety thing you idiot. There’s supposed to be 13-20 inches of snow up through Sunday morning. I’m pretty sure they don’t want 70,000 people driving down in that. I’m going down and would rather go down after the snow has stopped and the roads are plowed.

BleedGreen, make a quick trip on 76 to philly and back, then come on here and say it’s not that bad. It’s supposed to keep snowing into the night, and nobody wants to spend 5 hours in traffic tomorrow morning while they finish clearing the roads.

I am an hour north of Philly and we have an inch. Someone needs to slap the weathermen for me. They had us getting 8 to 14 inches and so far squat.

I have beer, I have chili.
I’d still rather be an Eagles fan waiting for the next game against the 49er than a Cows fan waiting for the end of the season (tonight)

Lame. Football isn’t baseball, and I can’t think of any reason a game time should be moved due to snow.
So…what would they do if the game was…gasp… played during the actual snowstorm? Move it to Monday Night? Tuesday Night? Just cancel it altogether?
I was at the New England-Miami game in 2003 where it snowed continuously for 48 hours before the 4:15pm Sunday kickoff. There was 2 and a half feet of snow on the ground. Never was there any talk of moving the game time, cancelling the game or anything else. It took me 2 hours to make what is normally a 20 minute drive to Gillette, but it was worth every minute of it.
And if you don’t have the intestinal fortitude to deal with some snow, or can’t handle leaving an hour or two early, don’t go. I guess some of us are more mentally tough and able to deal with winter conditions than others.

It snows a lot more up in that sh!thole of New England, so I guess you can expect that they have a lot more snow removal gear to deal with it.
As far as intestinal fortitude goes, Eagles fans are going to be there bright and early, shoveling out the tailgate, and will have a couple extra hours to warm up for the game

Hell….Hayward sounds like the stories everyone’s old man used to tell……”I used to walk to school in 20 feet of snow barefooted, up a hill while dodging meteors”…

Since I live in between 21st and 22nd on Market Street, I don’t need to make a quick trip to Philly. I can go outside and notice that, while there are 8-10″ now… the roads have

You’re right, hayward. This game is going to absolutely suck now that it’s being played three hours later. If it was originally scheduled for 4:15 like the one you so bravely went to then it wouldn’t have been moved either… but when you can easily move it back to another available slot that doesn’t interfere with primetime games then there’s no reason not too. But you’re right, they should ignore people’s safety so they can all drive through the snow and brag on internet blogs about being manly like you.

Wonderful, now instead of time shifting the Eagles-Niners I’ll get the joy of Seattle-TB. Thanks so much NFL.

Get NFL ticket and stop whining about how many games you can or cannot see….
