Once the league leaders in style points, the Patriots are learning how to win ugly again.
And that should be good enough for another AFC East title
New England held on to beat Buffalo 17-10 Sunday, the team’s first road win in North America. Coupled with losses by the Jets and Dolphins, the Patriots are one win away from the AFC East title. At 9-5, New England is up two games with two to play.
While Randy Moss was back on the scene, the Patriots passing game struggled overall. Tom Brady completed fewer than 50% of his passes for only 115 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Brady’s biggest throw may have been his last. A nine-yard pass to Wes Welker iced the game after Ryan Fitzpatrick made it 17-10 with a quick score to Lee Evans with just over three minutes left. Fitzpatrick was pulled briefly for Trent Edwards, but Edwards had to leave the game due to injury.
After the Evans score, the Bills tried an onside kick, appeared to recover it, but a penalty forced them to kick it deep.
The Patriots had a great day rushing the passer with six sacks (three by Tully Banta-Cain), but they also struggled to keep Brady upright.
While this Patriots team still has plenty of flaws, it looks like they will get a chance to improve on them heading into the playoffs.
And their first playoff game should be in Foxborough.
Randy Moss…what a loafer. Wants to be in Minnesota.
Dumbf#@ker.
Brett Favre.
It looks like brady is a hurtin puppy, ribs finger and maybe a seperated shoulder??
hope they can rest him before the playoffs…
wait, i thought the Jets already won the super bowl. weird.
if the win was in buffalo, it still isnt a true road win.
