49ers-Eagles one-liners

Three interceptions by QB Alex Smith were a key reason why the 49ers lost 27-13 to the Eagles.

Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News writes that, for better or worse, the 49ers and Smith are stuck with each other.

49ers RB Frank Gore ran for 107 yards and was a rare bright spot on Sunday.

49ers CB Dre’ Bly admitted after the game that he blew coverage on Eagles WR DeSean Jackson’s 59-yard catch in the fourth quarter.

T Joe Staley, back in the 49ers lineup for the first time since November 1st, was beaten for a pair of sacks.

Jackson continues to be the biggest weapon on the Eagles offense, adding a 19-yard touchdown and 81 other yards receiving to his big 59-yard play.

Eagles RB LeSean McCoy gained 48 yards to become the first rookie in team history to top 600 yards rushing.

The Eagles have struggled with tight ends at times this season, but they were able to shut down 49ers TE Vernon Davis on Sunday.

Eagles CB Asante Samuel had an interception, recovered a fumble and rebounded from a poor performance in pass coverage against the Giants.

Said Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, “It’s an exciting time but nothing to get overly excited about. We’re going to keep putting the pedal to the metal. Obviously, you want to put yourself in a position to make the playoffs, but one of our goals was to have a bye week and to win the NFC East, and the only way we can do that is by winning the next two weeks.”

It was a nice win, but it’s hard to get excited about beating the 49ers. Right now, they’re just not a very good team. The real concern is next week – it seems like teams that get beaten by the Raiders come out on fire the next week.

    @ kevin from Philly..
yeah you’re right the Steelers looked awesome losing to the Browns AFTER losing to the Raiders the week before (im being sarcastic for the idiots out their).. so obviously no it doesnt matter, teams go into every game wanting to win that game as much as they can regardless of the week before

    Akshun,
Point taken. Still, Denver is a concern, given Andy’s history against the AFC.

I just hope that the excitement doesnt get us off the gameplan. 2 wins and a minny loss (which probably will happen since favre is old and tired) from a playoff bye. here we go…
